Added a 1.5 inch memory foam topper to rv bed yesterday, made a huge difference, but what a pain it is to make those beds.
I think I might try sleeping on it tonight actually. Need to test the heating in the rv anyway, though unless it's really cold I travel with two
small electric heaters with thermostats. Almost silent heat vs all kinds of noise with stock hvac. Campground supplies the AC, might as well use that vs
my propane tank for heat.

Pleasant dreams, Drew! I'm pretty sure the 32 year old foam pad for the VW camper is gonna need some help, too, so if you like your topper, would you mind sharing make and model with us? I've also purchased a propane powered heater for it, and special ducting that's supposed to make it quieter. I'm not optimistic about how quiet it might be, though, so I'm thinking about an electric blanket to use when there's electricity available in the campground. Never used an electric blanket before, though, so not sure how warm they actually get. Will they keep you toasty down into the 40F temperature range?

Good morning!
49°F and going to a high of 50. 40% chance of rain. The 40% chance of rain just became 100%. It is raining now.

At trip to town is in the cards for today. I need to replace the batteries in the block heater remotes. It is better to do it now than to wait until the batteries are dead, then scramble to find some.

Have a good day all

Morning everyone! 52 here going to 54. Will be painting a bedroom this long weekend. Then if there’s time I have a yard full of downed leaves to pick up. Glad to hear everyone is getting better.
Jay did you travel rt.2 or the pike on your trip? Glad you had a safe/good time.
I have 3 days of training in Boston next week so that will be all that’s accomplished. Will be spending more time commuting then training.
Have more work needed done at a few relatives houses but they will have to wait. Ordered a set of spacers and tire chains for the B2650, hopefully no more slipping this winter. Need to get the blower mounted...yeesh it never ends! Lol. Keep safe everybody!

47 looking at 77.

Where are the skunks when you actually want one? Been on a 20 minute armed patrol again with flashlight...no signs of 'em...just a coon to run off.

Irv, sorry to hear about your issues with dad.

Good to hear your health report, Jay.

Nice looking job on the guitar, PJ. Strange, but nice. :)

RNG, are you already up, or not in bed, yet? Or middle of the night bathroom break, maybe.

I think I will start up my tractor for the first time in 5 or 6 weeks and bring a load of firewood to the porch to get things ready...also need to clean the chimney and woodstove.

34 degrees this morning, going for a high of 65. We have a frost advisory, but I don't think I have any frost; just dew on the grass. The indoor temperature was 3 degrees below our normal setting, so I turned on the heat for the first time this season just to keep the wife happy.

Well, I missed it again. Two hours after my original post (above), the temperature went on down to 31 degrees and the FROST on the grass is very obvious.

Looks like your getting taste of New England weather.

Coffee is done brewing. 37° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 50° with mostly sunny skies. Slept in this morning. Got pond finished yesterday. Need to get some bird seed for the feeders. Give both dogs a bath. That should be enough for today. Colors are starting show on trees.

Irv, good to hear from you. Coming up on 8 years and over 100k post on GM thread. Thanks. Best wishes for your Dad. Prayers sent.

Drew, we had a 2" memory foam in out motorhome. Made a terrible mattress very comfortable. We also got a mattress cover that kept cold and heat from coming up threw mattress. Many RV's do not have heat under beds. That make them very cold at night. I could not find the one we bought. But I am sure they are still made.

Jay,glad to hear you are feeling better.

PJ, nice guitar.

I'm sure I missed some. Everyone have a good day.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning. It's 54° this morning, forecast for 71° this afternoon and continuing winds. More rain is in the forecast starting Tuesday so ... fingers crossed. The 1"+ we got yesterday won't break our drought or end our burn bans. There are presently 155 out of 254 Texas counties under burn bans.

We're holding our "neighborhood night out" this evening at our VFD this evening. Always a great event and hopefully .... cooler temperatures will bring out neighbors we rarely see.

Jay ... glad you made it home safe. You did make me hungry for some good "chow da" though.

PJ .... very nice guitar build.

BEF ... glad you got your GDO installed without incident. Bananas are loaded with potassium.

Drew ... you can get inexpensive Sunbeam electric blankets at Wally World. They're nice to turn on, 30 minute before you go to bed, to warm everything up.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 81F. Winds light and variable.

Very nice to be able to wake up and switch on a light. Power got turned back on at about 1:30PM yesterday. It's so easy to take the modern conveniences for granted, but civilization is such a thin veneer.

Fixed some broken uprights and restacked a couple of firewood pallets yesterday, all set to move them to a more compact location. Chance of rain on Tuesday, so they also need a tarp spread over them.

Gonna head out on the red bike in a little bit, get some breakfast, then try to ride for a couple of hours. Then back here to move some pallets.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!!!

An overcast 49ºF for today’s low temperature; 50ºF presently; and I anticipate today’s high temperature ~60ºF with mixed sun and clouds. Plan for today: Dump run, the final string trimming and switching out the string trimmer head for a chisel blade and start the never-ending battle with shrub and sapling encroachment.

Welcome back Irv!!!:) I am sorry to read about your Dad. Dealing with an aging loved one’s depression and/or dementing illness is rarely pretty. Hang in there. My + thoughts and prayers.

RNG- I really like that flightradar24 site. The PG&L outage site is scary sad.:( Criminal neglect reckless endangerment seem to fit. I hope and pray that those w/o the knowledge and resources as you get the support they need.

BEF and Randy thanks for sharing your porch pictures. Both pictures show a lot of time and effort.

BEF- Nice job on the fence removal. I am happy that your Son’s condition was diagnosed and treated.

Phil- We took the MA turnpike this trip. The Fall colors were pretty decent once we got ~ Worcester hills. The Fall colors must be amazing along RT2. The colors are actually pretty decent here despite the lack of rain.

“…… I think I will start up my tractor for the first time in 5 or 6 weeks”- Billy I should add that to my list for the weekend. I have a lot of wood chips to move around creatively. I also need to drop the tiller and add the rotary cutter. “… also need to clean the chimney and woodstove.” On my list as well. I can actually vacuum out the entire chimney down to the woodstove’s top bricks with my Rigid shopvac after I “brush” out the chimney.

Rick- I hope that you get that much needed rain. That burn ban map is scary.:( I hope the VFD event goes as planned.

I appreciate the +’s. They help. I really think I am over this respiratory event. I have an appointment scheduled with my PCP/NP this coming Wednesday and hopefully will get the pneumonia vaccine.

I hope that everyone is having a decent start to their weekend and no one has any unpleasant surprises.

My + thoughts and prayers.

helper hard at work with several jobs pointed out, now I can come in and sit down. Lot of bush trimming and crawling under big trees and cutting out dead branches,
stuff you put off until it just looks awful.... I trimmed bushes around the house, don't mind if someone else is there to clean it up, all that bending over.

I think we are all on the same rv bed page. I used a heated mattress pad, not a heated blanket. The foam topper went on first, then the heated mattress pad, then bottom sheet, etc. Have same thing on my home bed, works wonderfully and heat comes up from the bottom quickly. I usually sleep set on 2, turn it up to 4 if legs are cramping, it helps...then I turn it down.

this is the one I bought, not expensive, but it has a "short queen" which is what I needed. Lots of different sizes and thicknesses but since my rv bed/mattress has to fold when the slide comes in, did not want too thick a pad underneath

Good morning! Had coffee. Chilly 54F cloudy here.

Love electric blankets. But for inside our home with the thermostat at 68F, I like the vellux blankets. They are the fishizzle.

My electric blanket preference is to put it underneath me, for temps down into the 50's in a camper, but to put it on top for colder temps. I don't get much camping experience anymore.....

We got very little rain out of the front passing through. Enough to water the grass for a day, but not enough to start filling the cracks.

Good morning! 51˚F heading to 66˚F, cloudy, no wind.

RNG our bedroom in the cabin usually got down to 40˚F in the winter, it had no heat on that side of the dog run cabin. We use an electric blanket and I also had a night nap to keep my head and ears warm. Drew's idea of a heated mattress pad sounds even better but you sill might need the night cap, unless you have a lot of hair.

Jay good to hear you finally got over you respiratory problems.

Eric, looking forward to your project and how you do the overlaps of the seams and figure out the angle to cut with the pitch. Will you build a frame first and customs make each panel - see there you go you got us all involved and heads are already spinning.

Off to the Garden and might pull the okra to make room for winter greens.

Kyle we had 1.5" rain with the cold front and it's starting to green up again.

Very nice to be able to wake up and switch on a light.

My sister got back home last night after 42 hours out.

LA is burning now, Saddleridge fire

might pull the okra to make room for winter greens.

Don, if your temps are anything like Bird's, your okra won't be happy.
Mine has slowed way down, it likes it hot and sunny for sure and it was in low 40's here this morning.
I'll leave mine in until two weekends from now, then I pull/clean out the entire garden.

Was going to visit the PA Dutch area east of Lancaster today, but the sons late night at the ER changed our plans. Was looking forward to eating.

Never used an electric blanket. Could use one now, chilly this morning.

My GBS started while camping. The night before both hips ached really bad in bed, couldn’t sleep. Same thing the next night before going home, hips hurt really bad. Definitely need a thicker mattress in RV.

Trying to decide where to put a fire pit in back yard. Ordered 42” metal ring from Home Depot. Need to get blocks to put around it. Not sure how far from house, or if I should put it under the trees.

After I get GDO done, it would be nice to get power to the barn. Right now I use an extension cord from the shed. I monitor current with a killawatt meter plugged in.

I need Thomas’s mason to build my fireplace and chimney. Behind the snowball shrub is the chimney foundation that was never finished. Built up to hearth level, with a wood stove chimney stubbed up from basement. My pellet stove sits on the hearth area inside. I don’t want a fireplace now, should box and put a small roof over the outside.

My cheap Sunbeam electric blanket stays on the bed year round. In winter I turn it on 'pre-heat' for 25 minutes, then dive in and shut it off. Nice cozy sleeping.

70°F and .1 inches rain.

Partial success with backhoe, removed from shipping crate and resting on dolly but boom still in shipping position and supported by floor jack while still strapped to forks. Quite unbalanced otherwise. Rain started just as I slid away shipping crate. By the time rain had taken a break my visiting friend had been visiting long enough for a couple of beers. Decided best to just make sure it was stable and wait until today.
Great visit with friends, 1st of many while they are here.

Attending funeral services for a local friend this morning. August was 84, something of a throwback to plantation days, paniolo, sugar foreman/superintendent, pig hunter, great story teller. Suspect the church will be full.

Back to backhoe this afternoon . So close.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
