Drew- Independent, honest, client-centered broker-agents like you and my late Dad can be hard to find nowadays. Background heroes; only appreciated by their clients and families. I respect and thank you for the +'s you helped create.

BEF

Sure wish you best of luck with the LTD and SS.
Went thru that with wife. Pretty much self education, no help offered anywhere unless you pay an attorney.

We knew my wife would never return to work while on STD.
Applied for Medical, but not eligible for SS due to work years as Fed employee, short 2 quarters. Even had to submit SS info to LTD insurer. So as the calendar runs, STD runs it’s course, wife gets out of hospital, employee med plan dies, Medical kicks in, LTD kicks in. All with lots of back and forth between me and whomever.
So the next year, wife gets one of those SS notices that tells you about future benefits. This time she qualifies for SS as her STD payments qualified for the 2 quarters. 🤙

So we apply for SS Disability which is denied. I learn this is near automatic, most use an attorney to appeal. Funny thing is the attorney submits nothing different that beneficiary submits so I just refiled myself. A drawn out process that tells you up front that when approved there will be a lump sum back payment. Of course this is what an attorney gets 40% of for doing nothing. SS Disability included medical eval by some appointed Dr. Don’t think he particularly liked me as we showed up with my foot high box of med records and xrays. Of course I was very observant of the physical tests. Made it a point to be cordial and polite, but when wife performed a task differently than an uninjured person and he didn’t take note, I made sure he did, even if I had to explain what she did that was different. I will admit, I was coached by wifes attorney. He and I got along great.

Eventually SS was approved and came with a nice lump sum check and eligibility letter. Found out that letter gets used over and over, so safe guard it.

I dutifully faxed all this new SS info to the LTD insurer. No response, but about year and half later Wife gets letter from a different person at LTD insurer basically accusing her of fraudulently over collecting due to her SS payments and demanding back payment. Of course I fired off a response with copies of the faxed documents stating that any error was on their part as they were properly and completely informed in timely manner.

After some negotiation we negotiated a settlement where they withheld about a year’s worth and then resumed payment minus the SS amount. That SS deduction remained constant.

This year, wife aged out. Got a letter from SS notifying her of the conversion. Amount didn’t change. Smooth. Letter from LTD insurer of termination about same time as last check.

I do tease my wife that she must not be disabled anymore.

As I said, GOOD LUCK. and patience.

Why did you switch to Apple?

Good question. My son likes his, has great battery life, my battery was toast. My Android phone is old.

I think I’ll be ready to go back to work in 3 weeks or so. Seems like a waste to file SSDI for such a short time.

Good evening all. 76F for the start, mostly cloudy, windy. Wind kept going all day, Clouds cleared out late afternoon, high temp 91F HI 96. Cleaning lady prep to start day, bike ride, on Trek, less aero, puttered after lunch, nap, tried out new Weber kettle by grilling brats for dinner :)
Don did you get your mom's well water tested yet?
RNG enjoy your research.
Drew, nice pics, good luck with porch, hope it stays dry!!
Claye, nice to hear from you.
Buckeye. sorry to hear about the lease. sad to see companys treat people like that, but car makers have been that way for years.
Buckey, been through more interface changes than I can shake a stick at, Unix vs System V vs DOS, Windows 3, 3.1 etc. Accomplishes nothing drives users crazy :(
Hawkeye,good to hear improvement.
Buckeye, good luck figuring it out. I was getting a headache from all the acronyms. I am getting 6-7 days battery life on a Galaxy J7 Android phone, by turnning everything off I don't need.
prayers for all.

70 right now...high today is to be in the lower 60's...and rain this morning.

Had a scare on the way to work yesterday... On the drive down, I felt a pressure in my chest that radiated up into my jaw. It abated, then had two more episodes during the drive in. When I got to work, I had another episode. The production control manager called 911 and I went to a local hospital. They couldn't figure out exactly what it was, but it wasn't a heart attack.
We all think of the classical symptoms of pain down the left arm, sweating and such...but those aren't the only possible symptoms.
Anyway, I feel OK this morning and hope I don't have any more episodes like the ones I had

Hoping it’s not serious, Roy. Maybe just a bit of stress.

Very nice anniversary dinner with wife. Got our senior flu shots first at Walmart.

A couple of friends arrived at restaurant just prior to us and invited us to join them. Made for a nice evening visiting. They have been married longer than us. They also have one of Kalani’s pups from her second litter. We finally got to treat them in return for something they did awhile back. Kinda took them by surprise, but am sure they were pleased. We are.

Good morning. We are supposed to be having a break in the weather today, which should let me get on and point up the very last section of wall, by our utility door. It is already raked out and only about 4 sq yards, all I need now is for the rain to give it a rest, like the forecaster promised.

Roy, not the best way to escape from an audit, hope you are feeling better today.

A few years ago I started boycotting retailers that put Christmas decorations out before Thanksgiving. I no longer shop at Lowes, and it sounds like Walmart should be on the list, too. Any others?
My wife says you need to add Laura Ashley's soft furnishings store in Nantwich, Cheshire to that list. If that's destroyed your plans for this week, maybe Randy knows an alternative place to get those cushions for your Vanagon :)

good morning all.
Thanks Jay. I was pretty unusual for an agent because I started out as a company underwriter, and then an insurance trainer.
Made for a wonderful arrangement with carrier underwriters, they slowly realized I could quote them chapter and verse on anything insurance
and with an exceptionally low loss ratio, I was also a good earner for them. Most importantly, particularly in a town of 2000, you knew everyone fairly well
and there was no question of saying, well call this 800 number and good luck. The fact that my partner was fire chief and I usually drove the first engine out or was first-in nozzleman was not lost on local folk. Unfortunately most of Bucks County is so expensive now I couldn't buy a retirement farm within an hour of my old home.
So I'm living a champagne life on a beer budget in Beaufort County NC. For a while yet...

64 going all the way up to 93 today, going to present challenges for painting.
Biggest problem is dripping sweat on oil paint. I wear a headband but I still seem to drip...
Try to position myself just off to side of paint line and not drip over wet paint. Such a problem...;)
This is gloss oil paint, with some plastic in it, something I don't normally paint with but my it's pretty when all done. Two years later of cleaning ladies mopping it,
yup that's the booby prize for doing my house, 75 feet of porch, has left the paint without any sheen.
Plus anything hit by the sun on the edges has peeled like mad. Lot of scraping yesterday, arms are sore but have to keep going while furniture
is off porch. I admit I never put it back after hurricane, knowing this job was coming. Honestly would have loved to pay someone to do this but finding
good help is, well, you know...

Thomas, take the day to reminisce, then don’t look back again. Too much in front to worry about behind.
