I too have tinnitus, but do my best to ignore most of the time, kinda of a low level ringing. Sorry to hear your’s is more troublesome Drew.

Also been long time Paypal user, almost extensively on ebay, but have also used their invoicing. Only a couple of minor problems in past but all resolved.

Did get my backhoe dolly assembled. The 8 inch castor wheels really nice, 2 zerks in the fixed, 3 in the rotating. Solid tires. Work quite well. I bought these many years ago at a surplus place with just a hope that I’d have a future use.

Dolly needs a modification or 2, but actually worked great. Very stable and I can roll the bh around.



Need to rethink my center support for bucket and frame. Initially it kept frame too high due to cross support to remove under tractor, bucket support too short. Not going to fix until frame is modded for my LS.

Good evening all. 75F for the start, clear, calm wind. Wind stayed light, sky became partly cloudy, and high temp was 95F HI105. Woke up at 4 finally went back to sleep shortly after 5 slept till 8 . Took a while to wake up eat breakfast and bike this morning. This afternoon changed oil and rotated tires for trip on the truck. Started 1:30 and finish tool pick at 8:30. Cartridge filter had a small o ring was a pain to get off and on.Also took of wrong panel at beginning of job, will go a lot smother next time. Oil was real dirty after 5k miles, no wonder salesman told to us 5K for oil change interval. Clean windshield, vacuum floor pack and ready to leave No computer and poor cell phone while at lake.
Drew, good luck with your tinitus Mine is not bad just pops up from time to time especially whaen I don't wear earplugs :ashamed:

RNG, thanks for the paypal tip. I have used it for many years without any problems but until you mentioned it, I hadn't looked for the section on pre-authorised payments and found some in there that I had never knowingly approved of. For now I have manually de-selected them, but I'm now having second thoughts about the convenience of paypal.

I am another one with constant tinnitus to which their is no magic off switch, nor any volume control. It has taken a few years but I have slowly come to terms with it and am now simply thankful for the reduced hearing I have left, rather than dwelling on what it was like before.

In my youth the BBC had a monopoly on what could be heard on radio and for the most part it was targeted at an older generation. Instead we used to listen to music broadcast all the way from Luxembourg and later on, pirate radio ships. The same songs got played over and over again, reception was awful, fading in and out with lots of hiss and crackle, yet I listened for hours. Now the internet lets me hear an almost unlimited quantity and variety of music and I can play it through much better amps and speakers. I can't hear conversations like I used to, but if I'm honest, listening to music is better now than when I was young.

Don, you mentioned hunting a compact truck and were thinking about a Ranger. It allows you to order tan cloth seats, hard to find anymore. Usually you just get a black cloth interior. Ranger is a nice looking truck.

Buppies, sorry it's been so dry your way... grass is greener than normal for late August here after the 4 straight days of rainstorms we had.

RNG, thanks for the Paypal tip...have used it a good bit with never a problem. I don't use Facebook, but will go look at the paypal settings and turn off anything I can.

TxDon...that tinnitus prescription list is long. I don't take any prescriptions, and looks like my occasional ibuprofen is not on the list...although aspirin was not on the list, but Bayer aspirin was. I only notice my tinnitus when my surroundings are very quiet.

Sodamo, great sign...I don't have ringing, more like crickets. Nice job on that dolly.

Finished my ceiling painting and shelf assembly in my wife's surprise craft and storage room.

Have about 1/3 of mowing left, and string trimming today.

Sorry to hear that I'm not the only one to suffer from Paypal's casual attitude toward financial security, but happy to spread the warning. Now if I could only get the ringing in my ears to stop, but it looks like I'm in good company there, too.

Speaking of hearing, I use earbuds on the motorcycle to listen to music and satellite radio, and the model I have was discontinued. The foam tips provide about 33 dB of attenuation, more than most regular earplugs. I was having trouble getting replacement tips, so started making my own by punching a hole in regular foamies and using super glue to attach them to recycled cores from old tips, but they were never as good as the factory ones. About two months ago, I ordered a half dozen new pairs from the company, and never got them. I'd called several times, only to get voicemail, and emails went unanswered. Finally last week I tried again and got a person on the line. I was told that the company had been sold, new people were in certain positions, a new computer system was in place, and general chaos ruled. The tips I ordered were also now discontinued, but I was told that those from one of the current product line would work. Earlier this week I got tracking info for a package, and with a little luck it'll arrive today before I leave for the weekend. With even more luck, the tips will work, and not come off in my ear like an early pair did...

There's a safety interlock on most motorcycles that prevents the starter from engaging when the bike is in gear, unless the clutch lever is pulled. That last bit, about being able to start the bike in gear with the lever pulled, wasn't working on the red bike, so yesterday I decided to find out why. Turns out the wire going to the switch was too tight, and the plastic housing of the switch had pulled apart. It didn't help that the plastic was old and brittle, and the little prongs that kept the thing together had lost their spring. I got it working again, and used a zip tie to keep it from coming apart, and stopped by the shop yesterday afternoon to get a replacement. Nope, not today, and apparently, not ever, as BMW has apparently discontinued the part. It is used on over a dozen different models, ranging from the mid '70s to the mid '90s. I was able to find a place selling them online after I got home, and have two on order, and I hope they don't come back and say they can't fill the order...

Drew I had to just learn to live with the ringing in my ears sometime worse than others but for the most part I'm good until my wife turns the TV or Radio down and then all I hear is the ringing lol. She also accuses me of selective hearing.
