I've never been in your part of Canada, but I have driven across western Canada to Alaska three times, and flew up there in a little Cessna once, and I much prefer the cold weather. You can always bundle up to stay warm, but you can't take off enough clothes to stay cool in the summer.

I'm with you Bird. I do not tolerate temperatures above 80° anymore. I can do things in temperatures to 20°. Below that I have so many clothes on I cannot move.

Oh, so true!

ronjhall, my hands tell me when it is too cold to work outside. I cannot work with gloves on unless I am handling either cold steel or firewood.

Buckeye, that picture sure brings a smile to one's face.

had a lovely day outside, tilled the entire potato and collards patch, collards are coming along nicely. Plus installed electric fencing around the entire field, will run wire next week.

My next door neighbor, the fireman, got a really nice lesson/reminder of why doing nice things for one's uncle can
sure pay benefits. His older retired Uncle lives across the road, and often needs a hand with machinery. My neighbor took my tractor over once with the finish mower on it and did the Uncle's whole property, which clearly made an impression.
So what shows up? How about a brand new 3 series JD with loader and disc, which nephew, would you mind storing under your shed?
I don't think he minded at all....

that collard variety is a NC yellow cabbage collard btw.

Happy Birthday BEF's DAD!!!

28 is a pretty big party if you're the cook.... :)

Drew, that looks like Don's work tractor model. Disk on! Nice looking garden pic.

Rick, spring cleanup. My burn pile is so big, I'm afraid to burn it...Might invite the local VFD with some food enticement.

My buddy bought a pellet BBQ pit at lowes for $600, says it does a good job but he needs to take notes about what temps and for how long on different types of meats. It can also cook with radiance heat IIRC.

Had to make 3 stops to get wood for the chicken run. Local place had no small pressure treated sizes. FWIW, Home depot's price on 2x4x8' pressure treated was $3.67 while Lowes was $4.37 and HD's wood looked a tad better visually.

Finally got home about 2pm. Cut the individual pieces. Putting it together with wood screws. I predrill the 1st side and screw into the 2nd piece of wood. It takes much longer, and much more strength. Got the 2 main sides done. Then picked up the barn a bit. Took 3 ibuprofen and now it's 7pm. Need to get back out there to finish the ends and top.

Thanks for all the bday wishes for dad. I told him where everyone was from.

Grandkids and great grandkids were in the truck bed.

Was a noisy day for him, but he enjoyed the attention. He would take his hearing aids out when it got too bad.

Everyone has gone. He's sitting in his chair going back thru all the cards he got. One plays Happy Birthday when you open it, including cows mooing to the music. He didn't hear it before, he couldn't believe it was from the card.

Had 8 not here, oldest brothers wife was in hospital and got out today, his son and girlfriend up in MI, my 2 sons at college, and my nephew and girlfriend in ID who moved into their new house today.

Good evening all. 69F for the start, light wind, overcast skies. Did not take long for heavy rain to show, had to run out and roll up truck windows :smiley_aafz:. Morning ride canceled due to weather, so energy conservation and puttering for the day.
Buckeye, great looking group :drink:
Drew, amazing story, how do you like the new tractor?
L4N, no gloves when doing snow removal?:confused2:
David, why did your wife wait so long to become officially retired;)
Lynn, sorry to hear about the firewood fiasco:eek:
PJ not the phone call I want to start my Saturday with!!:2cents: Any progress on guitar project?
Randy good to hear your mom still has her sense of humor
prayers for all.

As of her birthday her long term disability insurance from previous employer expired, her Social Security Disabilty converted to normal SS retirement. Can’t say we are going to miss the periodic medical documents updates as she achieved maximum medical improvement many years ago. Of course we haven’t really thought of her as disabled for a long time, she has just evolved other ways of doing things.

mostly_gas, I've got a heated cab. I usually plow with the window open.

sodamo, it is not disabled, it is differently abled.

Yes I am a George Carlin fan.

17 above and it will warm up to 23 °F. Wind W 7 mph. Snow in the forecast. Less than an inch.

I scraped the driveway off yesterday and may do it again today.

Other than the snow it is a conserve energy day.

Have a good day all

30 going to 67.

Glad your Dad had a big crowd and enjoyed his birthday, BEF. Drive home safely.

Buppies, hope you're feeling better today. Maybe a big Tech victory over Liberty will help.

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

Good morning all. No clouds for the sun to hide behind this morning, sunscreen for me before I go out again.

It is definitely springtime around the ponds, ducks have been pairing up all week, slowly making their way into the rushes whenever they catch sight of me walking by. Two oyster catches have also made an appearance, yesterday they were so besotted with one another that they didn't care when I drove past not more than 10 feet away. I hope they don't let a fox get so close before thinking about taking to the water, or their courtship is not going to have a happy-ever-after ending.

Randy, I really admire your mum's sense of humour

PJ, I almost feel sorry for your boss, he must be living in constant panic that his company will fold if he is not there to supervise. Next time he goes away, tell him to look at this thread for reassurance - he can be sure all is well at work once he sees you have time to get onto Good morning ;)

BEF, it's great to see your dad still enjoying life and obviously loved by so many people
