Lenny, place looks nice.

My wilson 3G/4G amp came. Need to try it out.

So much to do, and dont feel like doing any of it.

I have one that I purchased a while back that I was waiting till this move was over to install. We'll have to compare notes. Verizon is weak here but AT&T is strong.

Laid it out with antenna inside on a shelf pointed towards a tower, strung cables down hall to house antenna. Gained 10 db give or take.

Good evening all. 74F this morning, overcast, and light breeze. Wind picked up to moderate, brief showers and periods of drizzle, winds shifted from ENE to ESE, partial clearing after lunch, and high of 94F (forecast for 98F). Bike ride this morning, and nap after lunch. Kept waiting to get dragged over to stepdaughter's house to do something but didn't happen.
Lenny, I agree that is 1 nice place, hope your move went as smooth as Don's did.
Ed nice mill, should crank out a lot of sanity projects :)
Prayers for all.

I'm on the search for some WHITE sweet potatoes. They are called for in this July 4th recipe.

Farmers' Market Parfaits - Plant-Based Vegan Recipe

So far I am striking out. I did find some slips on Amazon but even with Drew growing them they won't be done in time.

Has anyone tried WHITE sweet potatoes and are they similar in taste to the orange sweet potatoes. I might have to make a substation but the red, orange and blue theme would only excite RS.

Wife and I had some awhile back. Pretty much by accident as we never had before. We don’t recall that they tasted same as the yellow ones but definitely sweeter than the usual whites. We liked them and would get again.

Plenty of sunshine this morning and a gentle breeze soon to follow. Forecast looks to have a high confidence of zero rain, so at the moment no panic about how long it will take before hay is ready to be baled.

Lenny, that's a really nice house and grounds you have. I'm sure you will have aquired a few wind turbine parts over the years, just set one of those up as a blower and the leaves will only be problem for those in the next country :)

Ed, you did it ! Hope that and the lathe bring you many years of sanity preserving fun.

good morning all. Leg cramps got me up early so off I go.
But first, the ending of my corn saga.

one ear of corn. That's what I got that was edible out of 3/4 of an acre of organic corn. Even with the Super A, I clearly did not manage this well, first time,
and the weeds took over.

but even if the weeds hadn't taken over, I had a problem. Starting off with ordering too many kinds of corn, which is a really bad idea due to cross pollination.
And I surely did make some mutts, attractive as the yellow and red corn is.

Now I bet your first guess would be that the red of the Indian corn moved over to the adjacent rows of yellow non gmo corn.
that's what I first thought, until I studied the husks and remembered that all those ears came off the first row, the Indian corn row.

So....guess what, the yellow corn was dominant here and messed up the Indian corn, not vice versa. One ear of "normal" Indian corn, so at least I know
what it was supposed to look like. Next two ears over are Glass Gem, which if they had ripened all the way, if they were going to, was supposed to look like little
gemstones, not yellow and grey corn. Oh well. Yellow corn was old but that one ear, well, I ate every kernel off it.

No bugs at all though on what I shucked. Lot of stink bug looking bugs in the fields now, plus the Japanese Beetles swarmed in a day ago and are chomping everything.
Sprayed yesterday, spraying again today. They just hate getting sprayed with that insecticide soap. Gives them a permanent wash job.

A grand experiment, not to be repeated for sure.

heat warning up again today

Good morning all, 66 going to 86 with am fog and a 30% chance of T-Storms. Hope to take it easy today. Got most of the shipping grease off of the mill yesterday, likely used half roll of paper towels. I am a blessed man, wife is as happy about the mill and lathe as I am, it was her idea that I get them. Think I'll keep her as long as I can.

Lenny, Pretty place and I would bet it will be a happy place. Good man to be doing what you are doing.

Thanks for the comments guys, Prayers for all in need, have a great day. Ed

Think I'll keep her as long as I can.

words of a very wise man

Looks like a wonderful creative tool to use in smaller spaces, great job of shifting gears figuratively Ed.
It's good to see you and Don doing so well. Don't think I'm too many years off from doing the same thing.
Except I'd be building birdhouses in a little wood shop.

It's almost like a painter getting a new set of oils to work with. Ed gets to start making all kinds of cool stuff at home, and there's a thread here
for that, Shop Time. Lot of talent in that thread, I'm really out of my league there. So I watch and drool at the neat machinery.
Plus just learning about new tools is interesting.
Once I stop learning, I'll probably take up watching tv again. ;)

Poured first cup of coffee. 62° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 72° with some rain in afternoon. Got most of my shopping done yesterday. Trip to Menards this morning. Garden pond maintenance. Then cleanup in yard from rain/winds last few days. Some NASCAR in afternoon. With over 1" of rain in the last week grass has turned from brown to green.

Good Morning All.

68 and sunny going to 91. Very quiet outside this morning...very nice.

Ron, that's a real pretty place. My grass is green, too, and growing so fast you can watch it...my yard has lots of clover in it, and glad to report the honey bees are about.

Phobes have nested again in the same nest...5 more eggs.

Road closed nearby, river washing over the bridge...makes for a very long detour for folks living over on that road.

Today is the 3rd anniversary of roasting my own coffee, so I'm planning a special Wingspread Blend-o-licious roast. It will be roast #613.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Thanks for all the praises! I try not to be a "proud parent" but do love this place. It's going to be harder to go back out on the road for my job in a couple of weeks.

Got all the doors cut and rehung in the cottage and a washing machine drain installed in that garage. Smoke detectors replaced.

Have to start working on the internet thing now. The xfinity rep installed a XB6 cable modem which turns out to be on a bad modem list.
The house is 69 ft long interior 2 story's and the cottage is 60 ft away and the signal wasn't very good where the tech located it on one end of the house. I moved it to the central area and seems to be better but not impressed yet. Anybody recommend a good router/modem? And a broad view of setting up full coverage?

Plans for today...Maybe scoot to TSC for trimmer string, check game cam, good wipe down inside of pickup...darn pollen, take the day as it comes.

Enjoy the day all.

I got my own Xfinity 3.1 modem and a high end Tri-band router from Netgear. Works great and easy setup. I have 2 Netgear extenders. One in shop and other in barn. Not as fast as from router. But works good for iPhone stuff.
I looked, my Model router is R8500. Current model is R9000.

Good morning! 76˚ heading to 90s windy.
Drew you need to drink more water during the day if you are having leg cramps at night. Farming is a battle, you fight insects, wild critters, weather, dust and dehydration - and none can be fought with a tractor. But the tractor is excellent for reshaping the land and vegetation control.
I took a walk in the community garden yesterday to see how it's operated. Looks OK it all organic with a water spigot at each bed. Lots of veggies growing and one lady even gave me a handful of tomatoes. All the equipment used in the gardens is in a large building and is used by everyone. One downside is that it is on the other side of the neighborhood 6 miles away but it would make a good bike ride or golf cart ride. (Can you go 12 miles on a charge?). Most people have a timer on their drip irrigation so they can go on vacation. I think there is a waiting list to get a 20' bed I'll have to send out an e-mail today.

Got the new locks in - coded push button or key.
While I was weed eating the gate Whipper escaped yesterday. She just ran to the front and then went to my wife who caught her and I carried her back to prison.

Ellen’s son in law had a birthday party yesterday, I missed the off shore race boats in OC, to attend, I came out on the short end! LOL
I’m sitting in the church hall now at someone’s 50th anniversary whom I don’t know.
Prayers for all, have a great day, hot and humid here.
