Good morning!!!!

71°F and cloudy with scattered rain this morning, going up to 91° today with more storms expected.

A fairly windy storm moved through yesterday just after I got home from work. Temperature dropped 13 degrees in about two minutes. I didn't hate that. We got some much-needed rain from it, too.

The Wife and I go back and forth over asphalt on the driveway. Part of it has been paved with chip and oil by the county road crews her grandfather knew when they had some leftover material. Unfortunately, it fell into disrepair over the years, and now has patches of loose gravel here and there ... which frequently wash out into tire-eating holes requiring constant vigilance to keep them level. I want to just asphalt the whole thing, but she's afraid the slope is too steep for winter ice on a smooth surface and wants to rock it like we did the top area by the garage. As expensive as new asphalt is, I suspect she's going to win this one.

That's quite a trip, mostly_. It's about 400 miles across Kansas. Did you ride roads or trails?

It was 43* this morning, it made it into the low 70's yesterday. Today looks like it's going to be in the low 80's with a 20% chance of thunderstorms later in the afternoon.

I think I'll start on painting the water shed today. I painted it a few years back and got it done in one day. But it was a 14 hr day, I'll make it a two day job this time.

Hope everyone has a nice hump day.
CWB.

It's cool in Texas with lots of rain. That's unusual...another hot day here though, but with thunderstorms all day predicted, a little cooler than yesterday's scorcher. 78 on thermometer at 5am, so not starting cool at all.

Hope you all have a good day.

Duplicate.

Well Drew .......... it IS about our turn for some rain and a bit cooler weather.

74 degrees this morning and our rain continues. It’s so far been good soaking rain. Prior to yesterday we’d had two 1/4” rains in 65 days.

It’s 82 now, going to about 85 today, hit 95 yesterday.
I’m trying to get ready for Carlisle GM this weekend, but it looks like rain. Got the car cleaned up and ready to go in case the weather gives us a break.
Happy anniversary to the Farmers.
Prayers for all.
Hope you guys have a good day. Heading to mow grass.

Randy, good luck at the car show. But if the rain in Texas is headed our way, may be a washout. Who knows....hope for the best and plan for the worst.
Apparently some flooding going on in Texas, major rain storm.

All the hard work done for the day. Second set of clothes wet but mostly from hose. Headed out after resting to water shrubs planted this Spring.
And look at the tall clover in the lawn by the road and wonder didn't I just mow that two days ago?
We've had plenty of rain to keep the grass green, just not enough to sink in much further.

Bird, prayer for your daughter and you.

Drew, we are thinking of how we can cut out work in our yard. We have 20-25 shrubs- trees that all need cutting or pruning. I am voting for the heavy equipment cure. Have fun and take care in the heat.

hope today is a happy one. Ed

Ed, I have two big azalea bushes in the rear of the house that desperately need pruning, and two in the front that need yanking out
with the FEL, but I figure they will just have to wait. Maybe for a cooler day too...
Hope your a/c is keeping you cool as a properly chilled cucumber.

Good morning to all! Low of 52 this morning at 06:00. Going up to around 90. Super dry, humidity was at only 8%, probably drop to 5-6% by this afternoon. No chance of rain. The sun is intense without any humidity to diffuse it, much better and tolerable in the shade.

Rick, glad you finally got some worthwhile rain. It's a shame that there's so much flooding going on near the gulf.

Drew, glad you didn't melt yesterday :D. Amazing that the weeds / garden can tolerate that heat as well.

Bird, prayers for your daughter, hope everything goes well.

Ron, thoughts, prayers and well wishes for your appointment next week.

Thomas, make sure you have your running shoes on when dealing with the nasties...

Lenny, congrats on the move and cooler weather, condolences on the 'furniture shopping '

RNG, there are policies in place about 'rough housing', not sure if ther were any reprimands issued.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Out to the farmers, have a nice day together.

The knee is tolerable, still swollen and a bit of pain. Only took 3 phone calls and 3 days for the ortho Dr to call back....first appt available is next Monday...hopefully better by then. Just taking it easy in the meantime.

Prayers and thoughts out for everyone this morning, have a great day!

Be safe

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!!

It's a long story, but we are alive and well in Centerville, SC on Lake Hartwell by way of Owings Mills, MD for good reasons. Brogen is doing well at the kennel so far. They have not yet introduced him to other dogs; hopefully he will be a "good citizen." The "7 hour drive" from MD to SC took 11 hours. In the age of laptop computers and smartphones and the need to constantly change forgotten secret "decoder ring" security settings has really messed with my ability to contact the outside world. Now I need to access my e-mails.

It's freakin' hot down here, and it is not much cooler up in MA from the weather reporting.

Ted- I am sorry to read about the knee. I hope there is no serious additional damage to the MCL.

Randy- I am happy to read that Ellen's Mom is doing better with the med change. Some medications are "disinhibatory" in nature for some individuals. Anti-depressants and anxiety medications seem to be the worst offenders.

Like previously posted; a lot of "stuff" happens in our personal lives and is shared here. I believe that I have caught up for the moment. Life is never boring nor should be.

I anticipate being on the road for about another week for good reasons. It's interesting to visit other regions of the US. I am already missing home and Brogen. By the time I get back our place will look even more derelict and abandonned than the usual state of disrepair. At least my rock crop harvest will not rot in this heat.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

Bird, prayers for your daughter, hope everything goes well.

The surgery went OK . . . . thanks to all of you . . . . and I don't often go into much detail of mine and my family's problems, but in this case, perhaps it might save someone else from a terrible situation.

A dozen or more years ago, our youngest daughter was getting pretty heavy, so she tried one of the surgical cures. There are quite a number of different ways to do weight reduction surgery. As far as I know, most people have no serious problems with it. The procedure she had done was two tiny holes in her belly through which they ran a string of some kind to tie off part of the stomach. I guess all of the methods simply make it impossible/uncomfortable/etc. to eat too much. Anyway, it seemed successful, and I don't know enough to properly explain the problem, but she was quite happy with it for awhile; lost weight, looked great, etc. for 6 or 8 years. But then she started hurting bad, bellyaches, vomiting, etc. almost every day. So she lost even more weight, and her doctors had no explanation for some years in spite of repeated colonoscopies and such. So she's been in misery almost all the time for more than 6 years. But a colonoscopy recently led the doctors to believe she just basically has no stomach left; food goes straight through into her small intestine. So they've been looking inside the intestine; today they went in to exam the interior of her abdomen, but the exterior of the intestines. I know she was concerned that they were going to find cancer. Well, the doctors tell us all her insides are beautiful, with one exception; her stomach capacity is one cup or less; food does go right on through instead of being digested in the stomach. For now, they've told her to eat no more than a tablespoonful at a time, but several times a day, of course. They may have to install the plumbing to insert nutrition another way in the future.

As I said, most people seem to have no problem, but I'd think long and hard before I had weight reduction surgery.

Bird, glad to hear it went well. Sounds like quite an ordeal. Wish her well.

I don’t know much about that procedure? What happens to the part of the stomach that is tied off and “unused”? Is procedure reversible?

   / Good morning!!!! #77,755
I know of someone who also has problems after weight reduction surgery.

I go in tomorrow for a followup look procedure from my surgery last fall. Edit, Dr just called and rescheduled.

Got some mowing in. Nice to mow when dry for a change.
Gonna take a break from mowing and get back to straightening up the shop for a bit, then perhaps a bit more mowing.

They have assured us that the procedure is NOT reversible. As for the part of the stomach that was tired off, I can't really say. I think it just shrunk/atrophied or such.

Glad surgery went well. Hope that her health improves now that they know what was causing her problems.

Bird, that sounds like Senior Women Stomach. They eat like birds and only a few ounces at a time...;)
Hope there's a way to increase her comfort.

thunderstorms popping up as expected. Just took a ride to garden and picked some more okra, really does grow like a weed.
And I sprayed all the tomatoes and peppers with foliar calcium, to help with tomato bottom rot. I was using Miracle Grow Tomato fertilizer and thought
that would do it. Nope. Have chucked half a dozen tomatoes away already. Earlier today I soaked the ground with longer acting calcium and tonight I applied
it topically. Can't do it in the sun or you burn the plant.

Big problem in the garden. When running the rototiller what pops up but a baby rabbit out of a hay pile. GRRRR.
Shooed him/her out and then Mama Rabbit was back last night I think looking for baby rabbit. No sign of either today.
They are wrecking the beans and seem to love sweet potato leaves.

I need to get about 100 linear feet of 2x4's and make the bottom of the netting secure. They are slipping right
under now.

I hope Andrew/Freedom Lives is doing ok with parenting and his summer.

Bird, Prayers for your daughters comfort and healing.

Drew, rabbit goes well with veggies in a pot.

Have a good evening. Ed
