Very nice weekend....got most of my chores done and we had a good time, overall. Other than some much needed rain, the weather was great.

46 this morning...heading to a high of 74 today...looks like a very nice week ahead of us as the temperatures go.

The local Roadrunner, that has taken up residence here all summer, was enjoying my freshly cut yard to chase grasshoppers. The coyotes are howling in the woods this evening. Watch out Roadrunner the coyote's after you . . . .

Not camera shy like some swans we know . . . .

Yesterday, this was as close as they would let me come without going for a swim.

I forget David, did you already tell us the name of the boat ? Is it Mary Celeste ? :) I guess everyone else must still be eating.

I'm having a hot cross bun for breakfast. A single sweet sticky bun is about as close as I can get to join in with the spirit of your continental breakfasts.

Good morning. A busy day ahead, all the remaining lambs to be moved, then get the ewes in for a sheep scab jab. After that they have to go onto clean ground, only problem is that I still haven't finished fencing the cut hay field. Why do I always leave things while the last minute ...

If you and the rest of the gang need something else now to get that image out of your head, how about a bit of trick shooting ? Most of this is the usual stuff, however I was impressed with the "Dropping it in" trick . Boat propulsion also looks fun - anyone else fancy trying this ?

surprise rain last night, surprisingly heavy, 1.47 inches as of this morning. The lawn continues to grow and grow; getting to the point where I'd sure like it to slow down.

busy day planned today, lots of errands, then work on the downed tree some more, then mow the orchard.
Thinking about selling my way too heavy solid bottom HR Long grapple and replacing it with an open grapple. My grapple is over 800 pounds way out front; should have been 400-500 max; just too heavy for an L. It works wonderfully, just so heavy it makes the Kubota hydraulics seem even punier. Interesting that my local Kubota dealer had the exact same almost new grapple out front on their yard several weeks ago, looks like someone did the same thing I did, and it sold quickly ,so maybe I should just take my lumps, sell it, and get the right tool. Less weight out front is safer and better no matter what. I have the oem solid bucket, so if I need to haul dirt or mulch I can.
Saturday, picking up 500-1000 pound tree logs, I was thinking there would be no way for me to do this safely without a grapple, particularly working by myself. This is when I sure wish I had a dump trailer; now I have to grapple the debris out of my trailer without wrecking it. I saw one picture where someone lifted up their trailer with their FEL forks to dump it...my rear gate prevents that. Besides I have to get the debris over a two foot high concrete block wall into my burn pit. Trying to pick up the same heavy stuff as few times as possible.

great pics of roadrunner Don. I've never seen one, only in cartoons...very cool.

RS, pics of splitter please, sounds very interesting.

They looked like they were being careful but I hope they really are...amazing. My favorite was boating by shotgun propulsion.

Can any of you reloaders tell if those empty shells are reloadable or if they had been? Can you do that to a shotgun? (sorry if stupid question)
how does one recycle used shotgun shells?
Centerfire ammo I assume is not reloadable, but someone, Roy?, educate me please.
Pretty sure they don't make "clays" out of clay anymore but those things used to be almost toxic to animals. wonder about the fish in that lake...
My next older brother used to shoot skeet off our pool deck next to the front fields, one of those gizmos that flings the clays up, nothing fancy like this video.
I wasn't particularly good at that, noise rang my ears even with muffs, and I decided to stick to stationary targets. Have enjoyed target shooting all my life but getting a bit rusty now. Need more 22s before I use up what I have, which isn't much. Next time I go downtown I'll try the little sporting goods store

Isn't a 22 long high power hollowpoint the largest round most of us need most of the time?

60 high of 80 today and we have high allergy alert. For some reason I already knew

Shot gun shells are reloadible rimfires like 22 and17 cal are not. A 17 cal will kill lots of things if you are a good shot and close enough to prey. 22s and the like are fun to shoot and more economical to shoot than say a 270 or 30-06

Lever action guns can also be lots of fun to shoot and come in 22caliber as well. Lots of cowboy competitions with lever action rifles

58 (yes!) going to 84.

I hand rubbed spices and then cooked a pig shoulder slowly (7 hours) on the grill yesterday and made bar-b-que. Myla made chile verde and we had friends over for a delicious dinner. Lots of left overs :).

My Tundra has its first appointment with the dealership today to gets its free 5,000 mile service...primarily just a tire rotation. I've asked to get the free 10,000 mile oil change now, too...just can't bring myself to wait 10,000 for the first oil change...was planning on doing it myself, but they agreed...very nice people there for every encounter I've had. Somehow Toyota knew when I hit 5,000 miles...I got an email within an hour...do they use the truck computer and satellite?

Don, great roadrunner pic.

David, are you on the Danube?

Good morning all. 52 here this morning going to 81, dry here too, first chance of rain is Saturday night. Ended up going up on skyline drive yesterday. Left right after breakfast and got back after 1:30. Nice and peaceful drive. Then last evening two of wife's nephews come over with a friend for a swim and pizza. Afterword they sat and sang songs for the boy and he loved it. Good day. O and I slipped a nap in too. Great day. Don't know what I will get into today but I am very sure I will find out soon enough.

Drew Can't reload rim fire shells (think .22) because he primer can't be easily replaced but both center fire rifle and shot shells can be easily reloaded and it is cheaper than buying new.

David, Glad I am not there. I would need a crane to get me off of the boat, the gang plank would not hold me. :)

Have a great day Ed

   / Good morning!!!! #49,759
Ed, thanks. I misspoke, meant rimfire not centerfire.
all that .22 brass out there not getting recycled,
pack out what you brought in and melt them
down for a candlestick holder.

72 going to 82 today. I wouldn't mind some clouds to work under.
David/Sodamo, enjoy every bite. I had a cup of coffee in my hand while perusing that row of dessert
goodies, just like on a larger cruise ship, and my hand almost went through the screen reaching for one
of them...

53 this morning and headed to 85 today. Made it to 83 yesterday.

Yesterday was a stressful and unproductive day. Electrical issues in chicken coops. Did get it straightened out though.

Now for today. I think I'll spend it on the tractor cutting the last dozen acres of hay. Then it's time to haul.

David. That trip wouldn't be helpful to the weight loss attempt.

Drew. I've been giving some thought to a bucket mounted grapple. But I deal with a lot of hay and manure also.
