Hardest work will be getting to the barn. Some big drifts. Kubota will handle the rest. I'll be warm in the cab. Was just out on the porch, still snowing and blowing. I am just thankful we have power, it would be miserable without it.

Changed back to snow around noon, most of yesterday's snow was gone, but everything is wrapped up again.

The snow has finally stopped.

Spent about 2 1/2 hours plowing. Got lucky county beat me to the road. Which is fine with me. I still dropped the blade on the way to the landlords. They tend to do that every couple of years. Laughing. :). Saved me about an hour.

Then about another 3 1/2 hours crusting chicken coops. Only two left.

You guys take it easy with all that snow. Ours started melting today. :).

Drift hanging off the roof. At one point it is at least 5 ft past the gutter.

I hope all of you buried in snow just take it easy this morning. And that you have power...
One brother reported in from Virginia, 32 inches of snow and 8 foot drifts. Like Buckeye, my brother isn't sure how to get to the barn to get his tractor and FEL; he's going to try to bucket out a little. No cab and blowing, drifting wind. Doesn't sound like a lot of fun...

32 degrees going up to 38 today. On Tuesday supposed to hit 60 here. This coming weekend starts four days in the mid 60's.
Very concerned my "degree cooling days" for my fruit orchard are going to be way low at this rate.
If it doesn't get cold enough, long enough, no apples in September.

Not one flake of snow last night. I think the rest of you got plenty for all of us.

-1 degrees right now...high of 29 today.
Wifey's birthday...I'm taking her to dinner this afternoon.

BTW, we watched "The Martian" last night. This is the movie about an astronaut accidently left behind when the crew had to abort the mission. It's an excellent film and I highly recommend it.

It's odd Thomas and Roy that you guys aren't buried in snow versus this storm which swung out to sea and missed you.
I wonder how the Street Dept of NYC is doing...

too bad we can't use that snow for something...though snow melt in the mountains does drive hydroelectric plants in a fashion

22 going to 34. Clear as a bell now, been a bright moon on the snow this morning. Saw 2 deer cross the field in the moonlight...well, actually just saw the tops of the 2 deer.

With highs in the 30, and a couple of days of low 40s this week, snow will hang around. Should get to 15 tonight.

Never lost power, thankfully.

Went snowshoeing yesterday with Coco before the snow ended and it was knee deep. I'll go measure for CocoRaHS reporting in a half hour...will be interested to look at the reports from across the state.

I have a FEL bucket full of firewood...guess I'll need to bring some onto the porch, so then I'll be motivated to plow the driveway...no cab here, either. Sometimes the farmer across the road plows ours when he does his...guess we'll see how much he liked my wife's brownies that I took to him last year after his generosity.

It's not really odd, or too uncommon actually. Nor'easters, such as just WV, MD, VA, PA and NYS; hit every few years (last one I recall was February 2011...you should remember that one).
Since the "target" area is normally mid-altantic and coastal New England, they don't normally hit the areas further inland (in the NE)

Here's some info:

Just noticed...this is my 20,000th post on TBN.

Must have been mountain range and jet stream of cold air was our saving grace...also fingers cross.

Oh boy do I and that's when I made the decision to retire further South. We lost power in that storm too and that's when I installed
a backup gen. Memories of wading through huge drifts on the back porch to get to the wood pile as the house got colder will remain with me.
