I am Thankful for ALL of you (and for my awesome Tractor).

38 degrees and at 5am out the bathroom window it was amazingly clear and pitch black (western night sky exposure) and I could see AMAZING stars and clusters and detail usually not visible to naked eye (before I turned on the night light to brush my teeth). The night sky on a clear dark night HAS to be one of the biggest benefits to large acreage in rural areas. No Light pollution and God's amazing handiwork startlingly visible.

What a beautiful sight it was.

Please travel safe everyone, LOVE your friends and family, all of them, even the ones you dissagree with or find odd. Love them all. And be GRATEFUL for all your BLESSINGS.

Second cup of coffee poured. 27 degrees this morning. Headed to mid 50's with lots of sun. It's Turkey Day. Wife is up getting turkey ready. Headed to youngest sons home for Thanksgiving Dinner.

36 degrees here, have a near hernia from going out and lugging in the huge daily paper.

What does today mean for you? A day off work or school? A chance to sleep in? The prospect of spending time with family and friends? The opportunity to spend (or save) on Black Friday tomorrow? The possibility of a calorie overload? Possibly all of these?

As for me, when I first awoke today, I said the same short prayer I always do upon waking up:

"Thank you Lord, for the gift of life."

We all have much to be thankful for, not only for what we have, but for many things we don't have.

Thanksgiving dinner has been delayed until next week. The USCG boy is flying in next week so thats when we decided to have our dinner.

41 F this morning, but going to 70 F by this afternoon. I had great success smoking our ham and a few racks of ribs yesterday. My grandson helped me strip the membrane off the back of the ribs and cut them to fit into the smoker. Then, he helped me rub them down with mustard and dry rub. He was a mess, but had a smile ear-to-ear. For dinner, we ate one of the racks of ribs last night. I told my wife that I'd warm and cut the other ribs for Thanksgiving. She told me NO WAY! We had plenty of turkey and ham for Thanksgiving. She wanted me to save the ribs for US! I guess they turned out pretty good.:thumbsup:

The trees are swaying pretty good right now and the height of the wind storm is not here yet. It may not be a good morning or good day out here. At least I have a generator and house generator panel if the power goes out. Will get a good soaking from the rain as well but the wind could be a real problem. Was going to do my big burn pile today but will wait for a calmer day.

Driving home from work last night, around 2am, I came upon an accident, with what looked like the "sheets" it appeared like it was a 3 fatality roll over, not sure since it was foggy and the lights where bright.

Makes you think, some families holiday will be forever tainted.

On the way home last night, we passed the Tanger outlet mall in Howell, Michigan. The early bird shoppers were backed up onto I96, probably a mile of cars waiting to get into the shopping center.

Good morning. It is 43 here and sunny. Just a few chores to finish up today and I'll be good to go for winter. No shopping for us today. Nothing out there is worth fighting that crowd. Have a great "Black Friday"!

Morning - sunny and 3 C here this morning. Supposed to hit 7 C with SW winds. :thumbsup: We had a 25cm snowfall on Wed. which played havoc with the province. Hit 3 hours earlier than expected and not many were really prepared. Even the city works crews were late getting out.
