Chicago pols thought they ran/owned the whole state.
Unfortunately, they do. No different than any other state with a big city. As Chicago goes, so goes the rest of Illinois. T'was ever thus.

Been here the entirety of my 57 years. Not expecting it's ever going to change, at least not in my lifetime.

Got the valve off the resin tank and capped the tank, only two bolts ... came out pretty easy:

She's a little crusty:

Separating the control valve assembly from the valve itself is looking like it will be a little tougher ... bolts are pretty crusty and rusty.

I did manage to get the cap on the rear of the brine valve off and having it soaking in some vinegar. Probably go check it an hour or two and see how it's coming along. May let it soak over night.

Great attitude, Ron. Unfortunately, passing is just another part of life. A few years back we were scheduled to host a neighborhood gathering. A former neighbor passed very unexpectedly just days before. I got several call, people expecting we would cancel. My response, Heck no, Jim would be honored we take the opportunity to raise a glass in his memory.
Some would call this a "Wake".
I had to chuckle
every time I go back to Washington NC my neighbors greet me with
Hey instead of Hi.
We were always taught hay was for horses. Any of you told that?
I think it's a Southern thing to say hey versus hi.

quiet evening in

"Hey" has always been an informal greeting around here, and in spite of being "southern" Illinois, we are definitely not Southern.

That said ... Salutations, Buppies!

In the real South, "Hey" is used to get attention and "Hi" is a greeting. That must be an Eastern coast thing.
I've gotten in the habit of saying "Howdy!"

Eeep! We got some snow here today as well. Miserable, rainy weather all day today, and we had to close down the Rental cottage. No fun!
yuck.

Good morning! 50˚F heading to the mid 80s with a South breeze and no clouds.

My wife mowed the yard while I edged and trimmed in the perfect weather yesterday. Knee was a little aggravated last night but was finally able to fall asleep.

This week (Thur-Sun) is the Estate sale. I can offer just a little limping help. Already have two of the three trailer sold the 8' and the 16'. Hope the 10' sells this week along with the hundreds of other items.
Weather was nice. I got the dryer torn apart, and parts ordered. $65ish. New felt bearing for rear part of drum, door seal, belt and drive pulley. Hope that remedies it.

Then went to help chaperone the youth group.

Work was easy today. Students on break. Tomorrow too.

This attack on Israel, is a heinous thing and will have far reaching consequences. I'm not at a loss of things to say, I just can't say them here.

Angry, sad, and mad.

I'm praying.

Very Worried about who's been coming across the southern border...Not too worried about those who came through Ellis Island.

Good evening all. 52ºF for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. Light wind with moderate gusts, partly cloudy sky and high temp was 88ºF. Putter to start day, then bike ride. After lunch mowed back yard and pulled sandburrs. Fixed porch light, only 1.5 years, at least it was not ants in timer again. After dinner pulled more sandburs.
Bill glad food was salvageable.
Randy(wag) good to hear the opposition will listen to reason :)
Ron good to hear you got some NASCAR and got some more yard ornaments in. Nice woodpecker
Drew glad you have an easy day.
Frits good luck with drain pan.
Billy sounds like you lie the roasted coffee. Hope mowing and trimming went well.

Ken sorry new medicine caused pain. prayers sent. Nice pic of son. Neat pic of Grans Salle bar.

David hope you got the dog's area so grass won't trickle while they use it. HH sounds good.
Bill good luck deploying the new tarps.
Drew glad plumbing changes done.
RS good luck with softener project. Not too surprising about cost change but you assume all risk on valve function definitely not good. The misdiagnoses on well doesn't inspire confidence either. Hope the Valveman can fix you up.
Frits did you make it or repair it? Nice tractor pic
Dennis glad tire change went so smoothly. Nice you were able to help wife shop at Costco. Hugs are always nice :)
Thomas sorry knee acted up, has it been reading TBN and getting ideas? You might want to make an appointment to have knees looked at. I did Dr gave me anti inflammatory and all pain gone :)
David great pic
RS I watched several oil change videos on F150, each one left out some important tidbits.
Dennis cats are such opportunists.

Phil...do you use leaves for mulch or do leaves rot away before next year?
I have 3 piles I turn over numerous times with the tractor during the year. The 3 year old pile is broken down enough to use as soil around the yard. The second pile is last years leaves and the third is current stuff.

Poured first cup of coffee. 41° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 50° with some late afternoon rain. Had a heavy frost after I posted yesterday. Got everything moved to cellar and yard ornaments put away in barn. Starting trimming back Hosta's and other plants today.
Cleanup crew hard at work.

Morning all!
41 going to 58/59.
12 years on this site as of 2 days ago! Time really does fly!
Not sure what will get done today. Neck is acting up again. Might tinker in the yard a bit.
Need to pull the beets out of the garden and decide if I will till in the manure now or wait till spring. Wife wants to wash three windows that don't open and need to be done with a ladder. Breakfast out with the widowed neighbor this morning and then a stop at the in laws to check on a few needed repairs in the apartment.
Lay low and go slow kinda day I think.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Randy(wag) good to hear the opposition will listen to reason :)
Good (Tuesday) evening. Pretty much a "groundhog day" from yesterday... Low of 4C, High of 16C and it's presently 12C, calm and partly cloudy.

Same sort of day on the 'pre-poll' station as yesterday. Sure, there's the (very) odd, passionate advocate for their cause (both sides, to be fair) but as I said yesterday the bloke in charge of my opposition & I get along great... today I even took him up on his offer of a mid-morning coffee from the local café.

Short story; the opposition bloke in charge needed to attend his Shire's Council meeting (way down south, leaving at around 1130) but had arranged for someone else to fill in for him. When that bloke arrived, he explained the 'arrangement' we'd agreed to and he was more than happy with that. THEN he asked a favour... could, when we 'pack-up' at 1600, store his opposition's signs & a box of the opposition's paraphernalia, in my ute overnight? (bringing it back tomorrow morning)

Sure, why not. (y)

Well, I'm off to bed soon so that's about it, take care all.
