Scott, have they removed those staples, yet? I had one stuck, and it felt like the doc was pulling my whole scalp off...others came out easy.
Ct, 58 to start going to 65. Intermittent light rain, heavy humidity and generally nasty day !

I got a 3 mile walk in earlier this morning in the fog with a slight drizzle, now wind is picking up a bit and rain a little more steady ! My granddaughter Livy is 2 today, and our youngest son and DIL are having a party for her, just down the street from us. Looks to be mostly like an inside party, unless the rain lets up !

wngsprd, it will be a week this tuesday since my accident, and they told me to get the staples out after about 10 days. So probably this coming friday at my primary care physicians office !
Kathleen says its looking much better, so I will take her word for it since I cant see it without using a mirror ! I am hoping that I dont have the same issue as your staple removal !

Thomas, safe travels into Vermont !

Hope all have a safe a blessed day !

The honey wagon came and went. $260.oo

The rain is off and on. It is hard to work between the rain drops, but we are getting it done.
I have 4 more buckets to put in the basement and that will be all 16 face cords in. I am going to see if I can get another 500 rpm out of that little one lunger. 500 rpm may throw the wood about 3' farther, I hope.

55F down from 68F when I got up. It was raining hard just before first light and has been raining steadily ever since. Not much color in the leaves here but leaves are falling. I'm having trouble keeping up with the grass. I hate leaving grass clippings on top of the lawn but that's what we have.

Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Chris

Greetings GM'ers !

53F and overcast @ 15:00 with the possibility of some showers. Only calling for a high of 54F but we already hit 55.4F, probably late last night, after midnight.

The cold front has come through and from the feel of it Fall is finally here.

Have been pushing to get a number of things done outside before the warm days were gone ... so I opted to forego posting here much in the last month or so.

Up until around the end of September, we were looking at having the driest September since they started keeping records. Then we got 0.13" on the 27th, 0.06" on the 28th, and finally another 0.06" on the 29th and finished out the month with a total of 0.71" for the entire month. Not sure whether that made the record books or not ... but it was close. The average rainfall here for the month of September is 3.5".

Despite that, the lawn stayed green and kept growing ... probably due to the huge rain (>5" in less then 24 hours) we got near the end of August.

One of the more recent projects has been to get the edge of the lawn where it meets the driveway down by the house graded and grass seed sown after having sprayed it to kill off the weeds.

Used screened compost to fill in the low spots:

And then used the spring from an old junk queen mattress that The Woman had stripped the covering off of after raking it out and compacting it to grade and smooth the filled area, towing it behind the Cub. Worked great!:

After that I ran down to TSC on the 3rd or 4th and got a 50# bag of (coated) Kentucky 31 Tall Fescue and got the seed spread and watered in using a 2 gallon watering can with the Water Buffalo.

After the seed was watered in we got it all covered it with straw on the 4th or 5th:

Then gave it one more watering before the rains arrived the night of the 5th/early morning of the 6th.

There may still be one low area that will need a little further work, have to get some significant rainfall to really tell whether there is still standing water.

We got 1.29" from that last rain event and have even had a little rain since.

Hopefully start seeing some new grass in the next week or so.

Yesterday, it was still nice (shorts weather) so I cored the front lawn and got it mowed. Even with the 1.29" of rain the yard was just barely moist enough to core.

Since it appears the nice weather is mostly gone, the focus in the coming days will be on getting stuff put away and tidying things up outside before the really nasty weather gets here.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday !

Summer is gone and winter is coming on. Realized there was a large lump on my left side when I was waking up then realized the cat got cold during the night. :)

Our county got some bad horse news.
