Good morning. 73 going to 88 with cloudy conditions today

Took the old pressure washer pump apart and pressed out the crank with bearings. Today will look at the new to me housing. It has the pistons in it but missing the crank and then clean it up and look to see if any parts are needed for assembly. Hope the cylinder sleeves can stay in place. If they need to come out will have to fabricate a puller

Stacked two loads of firewood following the plan.

Discovered a water leak in the copper tubing at the well water pressure tank in the basement. It is spraying out about 6 ft in a very small stream. This morning will stop it with a piece of rubber inner tube and hose clamp while pondering fix it myself or call plumber. Will post a picture later today

Plan to video call daughter today to give her some emotional support.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

67.4F going to mid/upper 80s, supposedly a dry day.

heading up to woodlot shortly without dogs, Mrs will be armed with pruners and line trimmer, I will get seat time in the excavator, try to get things done before it gets too hot out.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Need extra coffee this morning. 65° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 71° with good chance of thunderstorms. Found some rust spots on pole barn metal roof. Cleaned them up and then put a coat Rustoleum on the spot. Will recoat whole roof later this summer. Drew showed up with his Motorhome. Spent rest of the day enjoying each others company.
Got sad news. Both my mothers sisters passed away in the last week. They were the last of the mothers side of the family. Going to miss both of them.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.
Oh Ron, I'm so sorry to hear. Is one of these the "aunt" you spent a lot of time with? Prayers and condolences my friend.

I'm glad you and Drew got to spend some time together in person.

71 headed to 89. Got a sprinkle yesterday from the edge of a pop-up.

Ron, real sorry to hear about the loss of your aunts. Prayers said.

Took advantage of the rare calm wind and sprayed 75 gallons of glyphosate...was a 4.5 job driving slowly, trying to keep the pressure lower due to the heat, and then the tank and pump cleaning. I always take off the pump and fill with antifreeze before putting away. Then cap off the now-loose sprayer hoses with an old nitrile glove twist-tied...this is to keep the earwigs, etc from crawling up into the hoses.

Then did battle with the hornets again...still some remaining in 2 of the 3 sites.

My wife was working in the garden the whole time...we were both pretty drained at 2pm quitting time, so showered and then watched the original "Singing in the Rain" movie...we'd never seen it...what a fun movie...too bad they can't movies like that any more.

I'm worried about Buppies. I'll reach out to him.
Your hornets might have more than 1 entry? (Or are these even ground hornets?)

Do you spray to kill everything on your walking path? I've got a bermuda grass lawn, but have problems with dallis grass and other invasive weeds. I've read where you can mix a very light ratio batch of glyphosate and it won't kill the bermuda but will kill most of the weeds in a broad application. I do know that if you mix it regular strength, it will kill the bermuda too. The other alternative is MSMA which is selective and will kill most weeds. I believe they still use that on turf grass lawns and maybe golf courses. It is not available to the general public.

Drew, I found out that my close friend's father in law, wrote many of the Radio Shack "How to" guides on electronics way back in the day. He is still alive and lives down here in Texas.

We've only got a short rain shower in the last few days, maybe .01", still dry as a bone. Many around us have rec'd some good showers, it poured on me at work Thursday.

Work has been still "too many tasks" for 1 old guy. But alas, my boss told me he can hire a helper. We have a Haas cnc lathe, that someone had broken the tool setter probe tip. I got it replaced and calibrated, but I wasted a full day trying to figure out why the control would not show me the calculated positions of the tools...It is not like the lathes I've ran in the past. Finally figured out it had to have a certain G code to get the screen X Y positions to show the right numbers. Having not ran this brand before, I did not want to crash it. And my buckets of coolant were lost in shipment. But they arrived 17 days after they were supposed to be here. Uhgg.

Going to pick up auction items this morning, son is not motivated to come. Maybe I'll entice him with a breakfast taco.

Blessings and prayers for our team, especially Ron, Buppies, Drew's neck and travels, riptides daughter, and others.

I bought some key stock from Tractor supply. $4 for about 5 pieces maybe 1.5" long, but the stock is WAY too tough to be sheared if need be. The original stock was maybe aluminum, or a pewter, and this stuff was tough steel that made a lot of sparks when ground. My saw blade did not want to cut it, and was ruined by it.

Old school key stock was often made from a soft grade of cast iron.

Anyway, I got the pressure washer back together after making sure the carb's passages were all flowing. I bought this thing back in '96 or '97. It has the overhead valve B&S engine. Valve cover gasket is leaking oil, but it's been used a lot. It is on it's 2nd or 3rd pump.

I hate to say, but it looks like most everything in the picture except the bib is fairly corroded. It has a shark bite type fitting at the top, but not sure of what type setup is there at the gage (which has seen better days too). Half the job will be having all the needed parts there when someone takes it down to repair. Else you'll be down for extra time to go get more parts. Hope you get it repaired reasonably priced. Do you have lead free solder and flux?

Best course of action seems be to have plumber replace it all. I have the solder and equipment but not sure I want to mess with it.

71F and "Fair" ... at least for the moment ...

Enjoying first cup of coffee.

Heading up to around 83F for the day's high, with a line of heavy thunderstorms rolling in somewhere around 15:00 - 16:00. That may put a damper on any outdoor activities here.

That line of storms currently stretches from just south of Toledo back down through Indiana into southern Illinois.

With any luck, Drew will outrun it as he heads over this way from Ron's place.

Have a memorial service to attend early this afternoon for our neighbor who passed away last year.

Then will roll over to the campground and pick up Drew.

Was planning to head back and do some grilling here at the house but depending whether that storm makes it here by then, we may end up just going out for dinner at a local restaurant.

Woman requested that I water the tomato plants we had planted yesterday so got that done, along with watering all the stuff in pots.

Looks like the Neem oil was effective on the cabbage worms.

Thus far the two-string monofilament fence around the garden area has kept the deer out (knock on wood) Did see that the separate line with the cans on the ends had been knocked off the 5 gallon buckets ... so they have been probing it.

In years past the deer have heavily browsed the tomato plants so I'm pretty pleased with how effective it's been.

Got The Woman's basil repotted, it was heavily root-bound.

Day lilies are really starting to get going with blooms:

Good Morning
It’s 75 and headed to the middle 80’s with the typical chance of afternoon thunderstorms. They all missed us yesterday, got a little bit of a shower, but that was it.

Transit connect deal fell apart. The seller stated that it needed nothing for State Inspection, the inspection proved him wrong. He had agreed to pay for what it needed, except that when it needed something, he changed his mind. So I walked away. It needed front wheel bearings and rear brakes to pass inspection. There were other issues, but I agreed on only item that wouldn’t pass inspection. I’m not disappointed.

Did a little RC flying with son, more recurrent TSA training, a bit of string trimming, got the wife packed up for todays farmers market and then played music with the boys last night. We had to put together sets for a 4 hour show for 7/22, we will run through them next week again and should be good to go. It’s a town fair, and we have played the closing Saturday night for the last 10 years. Our job is to keep them entertained until the fireworks close the show.

Gotta hand it to Drew, packing up and seeing the sights and people in his motorhome by himself. It’s fun to see his pictures and travelogue, but I don’t think that I could do it. I have enjoyed meeting the few GM people that I have seen in person though.
