Forgot to add in Harry Update.

Harry demolishes tennis balls, unfortunately.

yesterday, he yakked up a bunch of fluorescent fuzz.

no more tennis balls for Harry.

I had a short piece of Manila rope, so I made a tug toy out of it. At least it is natural fiber.

aren't all the doctors saying everyone should eat more fiber?

RS, garden looks great.

Thanks.

Time to plant!

Getting close I think.

Actually could have had it in a month ago. That would have been ideal. Maybe next year ...

Biggest problem with planting anything is predation by critters.

Anything that we put out now will have to be caged until I can get the electric fence up.

Had the hummingbird feeder hanging on a shepard's hook, coon knocked it over but fortunately it didn't break the glass.

Need to get that refilled and hung back out ... this time on the roof overhang.

Glad you got to enjoy visit with family ... (y)

Only tough part is backing out on road. I am not looking for a third ding.... :cautious:
and a big phone pole directly across street on other side.

If possible when you return, I'd back into the driveway ... so when you go to leave next time you'll be facing forward ... ;)

SOP at Fedex was to not go down driveways ... if you could avoid it.

But if you had to, then back in ... so you could pull out facing forward.

RS, garden soil looks nice and fluffy, hides those rocks well!

Yup.

Fortunately, the actual garden area isn't too bad rock-wise. Still getting a few though when it's tilled.

Completely different story up at field in the compost/wood lot ... up there it's Rock-a-palooza.

What happens to the fabric next time you till?
I would think it would get all wrapped up in the tiller.

Fabric will have holes punched in it using a modified weed burner torch so it doesn’t fray.

Holes will range in size from a couple of inches to just over 5”.

The small holes will be used to plant seeds, the larger ones used for plants in pots.

Three spacings will be used: 6”, 18”, and 36” between the holes.

Rows will mostly be 12” on center, probably grouping several rows together, then an open space to walk between.

Now that the garden bed has been prepped, I don’t anticipate having to till again until I want to amend the soil further. That might be measured in years.

So the fabric could be left down until that time.

That’s the theory anyways …

15 mealworms put out for bluebirds. Checked nest box 3, three hatchlings inside. Not sure if the 4th egg is still in there or not.

Distilled water drained from Kubota, refilled with antifreeze.

Woman returned from shopping trip with a butter pecan iced coffee … and maple-frosted cinnamon roll …

Good afternoon for a drive along the old C&O canal along the Potomac river. Picture is of the old RR bridge that crossed the river. It was replaced but this portion leading up to the river is still standing.
