Veterans here on TBN may not be aware that you can now get a free pass to all National Parks. My Son who spent 13 years in Army was not aware of this. Sent him this link.

Thanks, ronjhall, Looking into this briefly. So far determined I'd need another online account, passport photo and other things to get the ID card. I was not aware of this either! Thanks again!

BEF, we are due north of the city a couple of miles. Our house is on the hill facing south and we can see some of the buildings.

We used the Monks book when we first got our dogs. I remember the part about rolling them on their back and getting their throat in your teeth and growling. That's in there isn't it?

I remember those clam strips. Last summer we ate at a burger joint up in Maine. I ordered the clam platter. 36 bucks. It was good but I probably won't order that again. Probably shouldn't be on my diet anyway.

I heard there was a good BBQ place in Ephrata.

"I heard there was a good BBQ place in Ephrata."

I can't tell you. Except when we are on vacation we eat plant based so we don't eat out much.

Good morning! Low of 39°, heading for 61°. Sunny, but windy. I believe it will happen today, already really breezy.
No rain in the 10 day.... not even a chance....

Buppies, hope all goes well today. Hope a positive outcome is in store.

Drew, on my very first date with the wifey, we got lost in the pine barrens on the way back to Newtown from Wildwood. Not really lost, but got side tracked off the Garden State Parkway because of an accident/ backup. I thought it was going to be our 'last' date too, after that....

Those were the days.... parents, six kids, luggage and supplies, all crammed into a '65 Pontiac Bonneville. After being stuffed in that car for the ride, the phrases "are we there yet?" or, "how much longer" were very frequent.

Cris, glad the fire was contained to the woods and no house damage. Scary stuff. Glad your brush pile got taken care of though.

Need to make a run into town, then? Might just regrease the tractor after doing all that loader work. That can keep me out of the wind. Might do some horizontal mining in the far side of the shop. Need to clear off a bench so it can be removed to make space for the dust collector. It got pushed to a 'back burner project' since last summer. Not yet a priority.......

Everyone have a great day!

63F and "Fair" @ 09:15, heading up to around 84F for the day's high.

Alerted The Woman that the large, dead ash tree on west side of the house has broken off at the base but is still standing, leaning up against an adjacent maple. Not real sure if there is any good way to bring it down. Definite hazard for sure.

Got all the contact cement removed from motor fan cover, finished sanding on it and got it primed. It was a mess:

IMG_2445 copy.jpg

Had to rub so hard with my thumb to get it all off that I actually separated the thumbnail from the meat. Getting acetone in that was not pleasant ... 🤬

Got new gasket for electrical junction box on motor cut and installed. Had to unwarp and straighten out gasket paper first by wetting it and placing under a chunk of 4 x 4:

IMG_2446 copy.jpg

Removed contact cement (and some rust) from motor pulley. Final clean up with a wire brush will have to wait until I have the motor under power again:

IMG_2447 copy.jpg

Warning label on cover for the junction box on motor had been painted over ... 🤬:

IMG_2448 copy.jpg

Was able to soften that up with some acetone and rub it off with my thumb ... which involved additional pain and discomfort:

Then got it installed.

Got some masking done on the motor itself after that and got it wiped down with acetone. Still some more masking to do today and one final check to see if I got all the contact cement off and then it can be shot with primer.

Added another can of the Rust-oleum Black Appliance Epoxy to the Menards order as I'm not sure if I have enough left to shoot the motor and its fan cover.

Will pick that up tonight after I drive down to Wooster this evening and pick up a bunch of equipment parts a guy had posted for sale.

Agenda for the rest of today:

Head over to barn with the Stihl blower and get Cub cleaned off, then replace air filter, check oil, etc. Get it rolled out near the overhead door.

Probably more saw work after that.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday ... (y)

Sounds like you are suffering for your art.
Great watching all of this come together.

We go for days with out too much going on. Today we have 2 state foresters out back investigating the fire. They told us that cigarettes don't start forest fires. I guess Smokey the Bear was wrong.

The movers are across the street packing up.

The cable guys have cars parked all up and down our driveway.

My wife ordered A new Iphone. So she is hanging out waiting for the UPS lady. She splurged and got us all upgraded to Unlimited and they talked her into trying wireless internet. It's got to be better than DSL.

After all this excitement I'll probable need a nap this afternoon. :giggle:

Take it easy.

had a lovely drive over to Pemberton, went down RT 29 (River Road) on NJ side and what a treat. All the roads were paved nicely, so smooth didn't even have to wear
my headphones, and lots of pretty views of the Delaware River on the right side heading South. Much nicer than PA side, and once again, NJ roads are in better shape than PA. I think PennDot is either woefully underfunded or simply incompetent.

picked up the Gravely and brought it home, spent 15 minutes shuffling vehicles around in driveway, got it all done and sitting down trying to stop sweating.
Warm out there but no complaints. We sure do need some rain though.

headed out to wash off the Gravely and water the veggies. Might just find another strawberry.
But first the shorts went on and hot bluejeans off.
