good morning all
after two weeks on the road, sure was nice to be in my own bed, have a bidet seat on my comfy toilet, etc, etc. and a super long hot shower where I could sit and wash my feet without turning into a pretzel.
going to be a busy and fun day.
First food shopping, then home to run wash and put stuff away and then a contest between washing the rv, which is truly filthy after two weeks and
going to local nursery to stock up on veggies. I also have to blow the leaves out of the gardens and then fire up the JD mower which still has the bagger on it, and
clean up the lawn. Not much growing, some colorful weeds which I don't mind.
forsythia is a bright blaze of yellow, daffodils are just starting to bloom and lots of tulips are coming up, but none blooming yet. It's been a mix of warm and cold here for last two weeks but I think I brought the warmth home, should be nice from now on out.
Buppies, hope your back heals quickly. I'm scheduled for a burn and scrape in a few weeks too. You and I are both fair skinned and as much as we like the sun,
it sure doesn't like us.
Kilroy, the PA turnpike is the master of expansion strips, bump, bump, bump, bump, bump, bump
However, it was a much nicer drive than route 95 in SC and Route 4 crossing Florida past Orlando in Florida.
just about all the stick on hangers in rv failed on this trip, the brand name white ones advertised. So I replaced them with nicer black metal hooks which
so far have been holding up. Shows how terrible our highways are and how rough riding the suspension on an E450 is. If I keep this rv, I will replace the shocks with
Koni FSR model and Sumo air helper springs. The rv came with Mor-Ryde suspension upgrades, whatever they are, which is a start. Really needs a steering stabilizer to
control strange steering motions when I hit a big bump.
with the exception of a broken valve stem, the rv was without fault for the trip. Probably 10 mpg average, 9 in the mountains. And not all that comfortable to drive.
My family did not think I could still do this, had to prove to myself, a little, and them I could. My wrists and hands are very sore from all the steering wheel gripping.
I can't wait to go get my hands in the dirt.
