Don, I saw those bubbles too. Wonder how many years/centuries of air is under there?

Good Morning
53 and won’t top 55 today. Foggy and grey with intermittent drizzle. Clearing some this afternoon.

Yesterday’s trip was in the clouds the whole time, with low ceilings and visibility, but above the minimum requirements. Fingerprinting was a huge bust. Our appointment got pushed back twice, so sat around for 4 hours to jump through the ID hoops, only to have their scanner not work, and they no longer have the ability to do them the old fashioned way with an ink pad. So I’ll have to go back another time. The site is only ten minutes from the airport, but at least an hour from home, so I really don’t want to make a trip just for fingerprints. That pretty much killed the day, warmed up leftovers for dinner, and watched “puppy culture” DVD’s required by the dog breeder.

Today will start with breakfast with the professor, then some shop time. Looks like Fed Ex delivered my filters from Messick’s, but they are for stock, except the HST which I hope to change today.

The time to pick up our puppy has slipped until Monday the 26th, as our daughter is moving and elected us to watch her dogs while that happens. The breeder said that it would be better to bring the puppy home to a quieter house without the other dogs. So We will have to wait another week.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:00AM.
Sunny. High near 55F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.

Got something of a late start yesterday (watched too many Prius videos), and just as I was about to get started chopping on a dead tree, the contractor buddy said he's on his way with the roller. I was a little worried he only had one ramp to get it off the trailer, but he somehow managed without tipping the thing over. More balls than brains, that one. I used it the rest of the afternoon and got the driveway and most of the decomposed granite and gravel around the house rolled flat, too. Had one hitch when I shut the engine off and then couldn't get it started, but kept fidding with the controls until it lit off again. Still don't know what I did, so at the end of the day I parked it where it could be winched back onto the trailer if that became necessary. Only real problem was getting stuck for a little bit on a steeper section of gravel.

The more I tried to get up the hill, the slipprier it got, but I eventually worked my way over to where it wasn't as steep and got the heck out of there. Not not a very good idea to try the roller on the hill out back. It would make it down OK, but then be stuck there. The machine was pretty interesting. It used a single cylinder Diesel engine that was loud as all get out. Vibrated really bad at low RPM, but smoothed out a bit when reved to operating speed. The steering was articulated, meaning there is a hinge in the middle of the chassis so the whole front of the machine steers, not just the front wheel. It was like nothing I've operated before, and almost impossible to steer in a straight line. Kinda like riding a dirt bike, in that you get happy just getting the thing to go in approximately the right direction. After four hours of vibration, I was more than happy to get off. Still have a little to do, but with four days of rain on the way, I get to keep it for a while and give the driveway another round of compaction after it gets a little wetter.

A pork chop on the BBQ and a little TV finished off the day. Gonna try and get that tree taken down and get a burn pile going this morning, then keep it fed the rest of the day.

Happy hump day, folks!

Rolling up hill is best backwards on roller. If stone is wet drum will pick up chunks of stone with it leaving divots

Good morning! 50 and foggy….likely the outlook for the entire day.

@Looking4new - Surplus Center sells an electric diverted valve to do what you want. Tap into the lines to the outrigger cylinder, use the normal ports for the outrigger. Use the activated ports for the thumb plumbing. You need a switch to activate the diverter valve when you want to use the thumb.

Not sure what today will bring, but will find something to do.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Good morning to all! Low of 26°, going up to 44°. Mostly cloudy now, supposed to be sunny? Chances of showers / snow tomorrow and Friday, we'll see......

Helogabals, please keep all that white stuff over on that side of the pond..... nice view though....

RNG, that act looked like some fun! Don't know anyone with a roller.... wish I did. I just have to get by with just running the tractor back and forth a thousand times.....
I still have to order the gravel for here.... I have to stop drooling first....

LFN, I saw somewhere there is a foot activated switch that works a diverter valve to control a thumb..... gets plumbed into the boom or bucket control, similar to how a third function works. Can't remember who made it....

Ken, sorry to here you got sick.... take it easy and get better soon!

Drew, you reminded me of a time when I was replacing a filter at the 'old' house..... I forgot to turn the water off, started unscrewing the filter housing, and FOOOM !! 😲 Blew that filter right off, cracked the housing when it slammed the floor. I was soaked instantly! Learned a lesson real quick!

Paul, sorry you couldn't get the FP's done. I used to have to get mine done every 4 years, never had a problem over the years, aside from having to go to the big city to get them done.
Sorry about having to wait another week for the puppy.

Dennis, strange dream for sure.... watch out for some guys in black suits....
Sorry about the bad nights sleep.... BTDT many times.....
Maybe a nap? Hope you get to tell your boss the big news today.

Didn't get to Costco yesterday, so that's on the agenda today. After school gets out, I'll take the 2 GS's to the store so they can pick out B-day cards for their father.
Didn't get out to the shop either..... still need to weld those edge-tamers together..... before the snow gets here....

Everyone have a great day!
