Good morning!!!!

28° and frost

called boss and said I’ll be training from home today and tomorrow. He started to protest that was too much, so I said I’m on sick leave then, I’m not coming into office with this cough and crud.
I also rescheduled another Dr visit for this afternoon, they didn’t want me coming in coughing.

I’m pretty sure this is the reason for me being light headed yesterday. It’s happened before, It just wasn’t obvious yet I was coming down with something.
Anyways, think I’ll keep the retirement ongoing.

Tested negative for gator bite.

Good morning! Good working Tempest is reporting 37˚F with a high of 50˚between 2-4pm with a North wind 11-13 mph, and lots of sun. I like the Tempest because it not only reports the current weather but forecast each hour of each day 10 days in advance and is the most accurate forecast compared to others.

The lightening detector is an accurate predictor of bad weather moving toward you reporting lightening up to 25 miles away. Any other weather station I have had would always get spiders after a few weeks and be inoperable, but since the Tempest has no cavities or moving parts I don't have that problem anymore.

No problem in the test to get the I-pad screen onto the big screen in the conference room yesterday prior to the class for Wednesday.

Good morning, low temp 20 and the high to 30°F. Wind NNE 5 mph. Mix of sun and cloud.Tonight a 60% chance of flurries. Friday night it officially starts. Snow for the next 3 days.

Kioti seems pretty proud of their parts. $66.oo plus shipping and tax for a 3 position center off rotary switch. It has an internal resistor for the low speed.

The Dodge has been marking its' territory for the past week. I finally remembered to call the garage and took it there yesterday morning. They were extremely busy, so I left it. They will get to it whenever they get to it. Right now I don't need it.
I just hope it is only a coolant line and not the rad.

I need to replace the power cable for the pump on my furnace oil tank. The tank settled on the one end and now the cable is about 1" too short. I use heavy duty extension cords mostly. I've got another one downstairs that will do the trick at 9.5'. Where the female end would normally be it is wired right into the pump.

Old man winter can rear his ugly head, I am ready, more ready than I have been in previous years.

Ron, last summer I saw a whole bunch of your sandhill cranes up north of Thunder Bay. I didn't know they came this far north until I googled them.

I guess I had better get below and feed the stove.

Have a safe day all

Good morning, 35 now high of 39 today. Cold and rain is on the way and maybe a little snow as well. Going to pick up groceries this morning using our 20 percent off plus 5 percent for senior day. Also need to fill up with diesel at the same time. Reminds me I have to treat the equipment with diesel tanks to prevent gelling. Also will order 5 more Leland Cypress trees to plant on property line. Submitted a claim for Cody's recent Vet treatment and submitted now his medical records to Healthypaws pet insurance. Also need to setup lab blood work appointment for upcoming DR appointments

36F now and cloudy. It may rain after lunch.

"I’m headed up to Bangor, ME overnight" I wish I was going with you. I'd like to see what the midcoast is like this time of year. Safe travels.

My wife and I have been cleaning the leaves out of the bushes (mostly my wife). There is talk about the right time to put up Christmas lights. Now is too early for me but there are some in the neighborhood who have them up.

Like my neighbor says "Be Good"

Chris

Bill, feed the stove, stay warm.

Don, it would be fun to track the accuracy of Tempest weather predicting vs Wunderground and local news.
I wonder what metric it evaluates? Rate of drop of barometric pressure?

couple of hours before it starts raining but still only 36 out, just isn't enticing me to get outside and suck up the leaves. Front tree still dropping,
I just go out and blow them out of the flower beds into the lawn and then maybe pick them up. Maybe not.

Frits, I bought a bottle of Power Service diesel supplement with antigel in it yesterday to take to brother in VA. He has a 50hp CaseIH that likely has pretty old fuel
in it. Best thing he could do is drain it out and start over but pretty sure he won't do that. Just doesn't put enough hours on it. So a cetane boost might help.

question for you all. Need to bring in my wood glues from unheated garage, no heat for winter. Can't be good to freeze that stuff.
What else should come inside? Need to check my collection of sprayers too.
what about all my Makita cordless batteries?..
Guess they should go to the basement also.
car wax stuff?
guess I'd better take two buckets

Yep. Time to put the (rear) blower on. I have been procrastinating, because I don’t like doing it. There are three sub tasks. One is removing the backhoe, two is putting that stupid three point hitch contraption on, and three is hooking up the blower and connecting the PTO shaft. Each one is no fun, and of course I waited until it is below freezing! Last PITA task before winter, Fortunately.

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:45AM.
Sunny. High 67F. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph.

The winds yesterday on the way back from Lompoc were mostly light and variable, a far cry from the day before. That involved a leg from Mecca Beach on the Salton Sea, and a crossing of the Tehachapi Mountains. The morning started clear and calm, but by 10 AM the winds had built into the mid 20 MPH range at Mojave, CA, making it "interesting" on the flats approaching the pass, especially when getting around the big 18-wheeler trucks. A few years ago, the winds were strong enough approaching Tehachapi that they broke the plastic windshield off the mounts, leaving it free to slide up my arms. So I opted to cut back to the south and cross the Tehachapis on the I-5 Grapevine, going into the wind instead of having it hit me from the side. Once over, the ride on CA166 to the coast was smooth and I was able to make good time again.

saltonSeaSunrise2022.jpg

The camp at Salton Sea was very well attended, with maybe fifty kindred spirits gathered from mostly Southern California, but a few from Nevada and even Arizona. I chopped onions and jicama for Saturday's meal, which garnished the carne asada tacos prepared by our host. We took other meals at the Bombay Beach American Legion Hall, which had drastically improved the Friday night steak feed, and at the Ski Inn, which was under new management. Nice to see the improvements coming out of Covid lockdown.

After I got home yesterday, I gathered up the mail, fed the hummers, unpacked, and got the motorcycle washed. I noticed that the wind had knocked over a few chairs on the back porch, and pushed the BBQ out away from the wall. The winds haven't triggered any Public Safety Power Shutoffs yet, probably due to the rain that fell two weeks ago. It's interesting to note that "only" 360,000 acres have burned this year, as opposed to more than two million from last year. Unless we get more rain, though, fire season is still in effect.

Not sure what's on the agenda for today yet, but catching up on email will likely produce a few step'n'fetch its to keep me busy.

Not in a 900 sf cottage I can't....
getting a housecleaner best thing for me. Not just that house is a little cleaner, not much, but
that I have to pick everything up at least weekly.
headed out to garage with a couple of empty buckets to see what I can bring in. About a week late for this....ahem.
