Gstrom99,
The grape vines I have do not produce any real grapes, but do drag down trees.
Thick and woody, many the size of my arm and are invasive. Leaves look like grape, but not grapes.
picture from the web, but this looks exactly like what I am dealing with:

Yeah, I've had my share of those too. Are there vines that are NOT wild grape? I never researched that.

What I found on mine, is that they produced small dark fruit (like 3/8"), but WAY up there in the tree and hard to see until the vine is pulled down at the right time of year. My woods had wild turkeys that apparently LOVED them. I was always trying to decide whether to cut them to save the tree, or leave them for the critters.

I have lost so many Ash trees, the trees win for now.
I have lots of poison ivy in three spots (so far) and those vines get big too. Birds love the seeds.....
I also have thinner, ropy vines that choke trees. I cut those too, but not aggressively.

Our turkeys seem to wander properties and I only see them a week here or there during the year.
They seem pretty healthy and large :)

Since I grew up 5 miles from Ken's woods, have plenty of experience with those grape vines
aka monkey vines. My father would take a clipper and fresh cigar and go spend hours in the woods
cutting down those vines.
just have to be real careful it's not poison sumac, which is usually hairier and thinner. You can't get within a foot of that stuff
without rashes.

had a pretty awful time at church at business meeting. One guy said afterwards he has been there 20 years and never seen such
emotion and anger. I had one lady yelling at me, another walked out, but most were all just fine with being conservative and safe.
One lady burst into tears saying she hadn't been in Meeting for two years and somehow that was all our fault since we required masking.
I had to stop the meeting three times and go into silent worship to calm folks down.

oh boy will I be glad when the disease that cannot be named gets out of town. I'm hoping within the next month.
Kinda wish I drank. Roy have a Jameson for me please, I need it.

Wild grape vine.
I’ve been clearing them out of my woods, they killed a lot of trees.
