We had about 15 minutes of snow here, but because it had rained earlier, the ground was wet and the snow melted right away.

I very much doubt we'll have snow again this year, and I can't say I'm disappointed!

13 degrees F and it looks like we got abut 3 inches of white stuff out there. Clear now so looks like it will be another nice day...

Meant to get up to 5*C/41*F later! Ooh, I'll be looking forward to that... Not!

First cup of coffee is almost gone. 70 breezy degrees this morning. Heading to 84 this afternoon. Checked the temperature at home this morning. 2 degrees heading to a high of 17 with snow today. That's why we headed to south TX for the winter.
Off to a flea market this morning. Then sit in shade and enjoy the great weather.
Good Morning All.

It was 36 at 0500, did not seem to get as cold as we feared last night.

It sure was nice to sleep in my own bed again last night. I have had extensive travel in the past. From mid-2004 until the end of 2006 I was gone from 0400 Monday until 11pm Thursday every week. But my big girls really seemed to miss me after only 36 hours or so.

I am so proud of them they went from helping me feed/water/hay their horses, to doing it 100% this week. I have been gone from early am until dark every day, and gone overnight one night. They are danged fine good girls and I love the stuffing out of them...

Roy, I am in your corner praying one of those jobs comes through, and I'm on your wife's side hoping you get the permanent job. I was self employed June 2008 until June 2011 and when Congress cut my budget in August 2010 it HURT. I did not work at all from mid Sept 10 through the first week of January 2011, and then I only worked 177 hours TOTAL from Jan thru mid June 2011!!! I may not love my current job and pay level, but I am addicted to paychecks.

Dean - Thanks for the well wishes. I know the Lord has a good plan, I just need to follow it and it will all work out well. I ended up only driving a 280 mile loop (althoug in some INCREDIBLE Traffic :mur:) between driving to work Wed. and home last night.

TopPop52 - I hope you get settled. Maybe we should try to schedule a "Mid-Atlantic TBN Garage build" even at your place this summer...

JDgreen227 - I lost a child who was just under 7 months old and it was very hard. I actually think it would be worse the older they get. I almost lost my son at 22 a few years back when he was in a serious motorcycle accident. A good friend of mine lost a daughter who was 28 I think in a horrific accident last spring and it has devastated him and the regrets he feels are dragging him down. Your friend will not even notice the cold, it won't come close to the cold he feels inside. If you can, love him like a brother because he will need it even if he does not ask for it.

JMurray - Buy a tractor, even a toy tractor! :D. Maybe then the "Post *****" charge will fade away over time.

If I keep posting like this (all combinned into one) instead of each comment seperate, I'll never reach 11,000 posts...

Be well all,
David

When my job located me to Florida, back in 1981, I worked in Sarasota on Clark Road. We rented a house in Nokomis. I later worked and lived in Bradenton.

My grandparents retired here in the early 60's. My parents came here in the mid 80's. I'd like to retire here, but between the real estate market up north, and my wife's desire to be close to her family, I don't see it happening. Oh, well, maybe I can talk the wife into a cab tractor......:)

I don't think it was more then a month ago...

As far as why I'm posting so much....you folks know I do contracted QA work and my last contract ended in Sept...a bit earlier then expected (client company reorganized some departments). The last quarter of the year is dead for contractors...companies just don't hire 'em in Oct, Nov or Dec. Like sales guys, contractors have to enjoy the good times and plan for the lean times.

Anyway, gave me a lot more time on TBN...since I've been a member since 2001 and took a year off, my average annual post count was a bit over a thousand...now it took me a month do do a thousand (approximately).

BTW, I did two really good phone interviews yesterday (2012-01-18) that might produce some results. One was a permanent job at a former customer, the other was a really cool contract for a company based in CA that has some long term work in the Mid-Atlantic (PA, MD, VA) area. Personally, I'd like the contract job...but I know my wife would prefer I took the permanent one...if either are actually offered.

Good luck!

23 degrees and a high of 29
Looks like a few inches of snow coming it, then freezing rain through Saturday. Well, the chains are on the tractor, topped off with diesel and I guess I'm ready. Won't plow until after the freezing rain though,
