Good morning!!!!

good morning all
cloudy cold day in the low 40's
headed out late this morning to pick up my new to me car, and then not much planned today.

Ron, those trash truck auto loaders are both noisy and really hard on the cans. They really have to make those
plastic cans sturdy. Reminds me I have to take out trash tonight and throw the old pumpkins in there. Neighbor says they go down local
road and throw their pumpkins in ravine. I'm not comfortable throwing anything on someone else's property so left pumpkins out by road hoping
someone would take them home and make about ten pies. Nope. Also have to leave a tip envelope this week for both guys, one trash and second truck
does recycling.

I take my brother's car back to him this morning and then he will drive me to car dealer to pick up my car.
This makes the garden shed situation even more annoying since now I have to leave mower outside (under a custom cover) so I can put car in garage.
The best laid plans of mice and men sure went astray on this one.

neighbor told me Home Depot truck came yesterday, huge truck that would not fit down driveway and they came looking for shed while I was out foodshopping.
They never called as promised. So now I have to chase them down again.

Three Amazon packages says they were delivered and never showed up. Have to call on that today. I'll be glad when this holiday season is over.

hope everyone ailing feels much better.

25 outside this AM, heading to mid 40's.

Nice and dry here, just crispy grass. And that is alright by me.

Nothing on the agenda today and that too is alright by me. I am giving the wood pile a rest for a while.

I found the cat that got attacked by something the other night. Nice and gimpy, so he is in the house next door until we can see what ails him. Probably got into it with another cat. He was in coyote country, so he is lucky. He has always had quite a range. His brother hangs out in and around the barn. Smart cat.

Hope all are doing well today. Be safe. Get healthy to those fighting ailments.

21 currently highs in the mid 30’s mostly sunny today. Got about an inch of fluff overnight, other than cleaning the wife’s car off this morning I think the sun will take care of the rest. If it doesn’t it’s supposed to be in the 50’s Saturday.

I enjoy the conversations about trash pick up vs going to the dump (aka transfer station). It’s always a hot topic at tax time and when the new folks realize there’s no trash pick up or street lights or sidewalks. I guess not much research is done before moving in lol.
I hope we don’t lose “the dump“ anytime soon to me it really is a treasure.

Sorry for the rambling

I loved having a country transfer station five miles from my home in NC. It took everything, single stream,
waste oil, old tvs, landscaping waste, concrete waste, all dumped into large containers parked on a lower level, so trucks came in and
hauled those containers off somewhere else. It really worked well. Medical waste not allowed, all went to facility near Raleigh I think.

There is an immense land fill at the bottom of this county, called Grows. Good name, as it does grow. It is right on the banks of the Delaware and to get to Trenton on my boat from Philadelphia I passed it on the left going North every time. It is simply enormous, a mountain of trash with an army of trucks on it. When you see it from the water, you realize what a mess we are making of our environment. Sea gulls love it though.

I just want to add as little as possible to that big mess.

it doesn't seem very smart to site an enormous landfill right on the banks of the largest River in the area
and allow this list of nasties to be dumped there, called Acceptable Waste. No wonder Fish & Game says don't eat the fish in the River
sludge

I'd like an order please of some asbestos, used syringes, used bandages and sludge.
makes you wonder what gets into the River when a hurricane comes through.

Good Morning.
It’s 26 with a high of 36 under cloudy skies today.

Yesterday was another busy day that didn’t involve any tools or machinery, other than the ultrasonic tank. Here’s a before and after of a calcium encrusted shower head. I’m still amazed at how well it works.

Looks like today will start off with a trip to the clinic for a random drug and alcohol test. After that, I hope to spend some time in the shop, and have lunch with a friend that is back on his feet after a quintuple bypass. His heart surgery went well, but he lost the vision in one eye as a complication of the anesthesia.
And tonight is trash night. I keep thinking I need to make a device to hold the two toters on the back or sides of the carryall to get them to the end of the lane. It’s about a half mile round trip, which is fine when the weather is nice, but a chore when it isn’t.
That might be a project for today, but I need to come up with a design.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 4:45AM. Showers early, then clearing with ample sunshine by the afternoon. High near 55F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
Picked up a little less than a quarter inch of rain overnight, and with the main front already past, there won't be much more this morning. Still a fair amount of rain forecast for Sunday-Thursday next week, and the weather geek on the TV last night said something about snow down to 500 feet in elevation. So there might be some white stuff on the ground here next week.

Never thought about using the UT tank on a crusty showerhead, Rich. Now I'll give it a try, so thanks!

I was very surprised and pleased to find that there was trash pickup here. But when they went to the trucks with the dumper arm, I found myself picking up trash that spilled out of the bin every time they dumped it. Caught the truck driver one morning, and he explained that the gripper is worn out and the company doesn't have the funds to fix it, so he does the best he can. And I clean up the mess each week.

Looks like I'm headed to Oroville to pick up a package today. That's an hour and twenty bux of fuel I'll never see again. I found a message scrawled on the delivery slip telling me I had to sign in person at the PO. I guess it's too much to ask the postman to come to the front door and knock. No Christmas tip for that knucklehead.

Amazon is now warning that purchases won't make the Christmas delivery deadline. So much for 2-day Prime shipping.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Morning, 28 right now going up to 40 and might get some sun.

Spent a few hours with Comcast getting the old cable modem up in the apartment. Not fun dealing with them and their automation.

Hauled some more firewood up to the rack by the door.

Light flurries yesterday, but only while I was driving to store.🤪

Buppies-please rest and get better

Drew - have fun with the new car!

Randy - hope your leg gets better soon.

Fedex keeps saying my new garage lights are out for delivery, day after day, but they don't show up.

Stay safe and be well,

This guy keeps hanging around scraping up all my trees.

Drew,

In a previous life I worked for a small company that made industrial waste water treatment filtration systems for pc board manufacturers, plating shops and other polluting industries. It was amazing to see the volume of pollutants discharged into the water systems of our country. Eventually we were bought by a large trash to energy company that had a major operation not far from the Merrimack River in Mass. I too wondered how much nasty stuff wound up in the river. Oh, and the stench of the trash mountain was unbearable in the warm months.

We have great recycling and trash handling at our transfer stations...individual bins for cardboard, paper, can/bottles/plastic, used oil, paint, anti-freeze, batteries, old propane tanks, metal, etc. On my many visits, I've observed most people using one or more of the recycling bins when they bring their trash.

Where I used to live, they made the largest city park out of the landfill...it is the highest point in the city, used for sledding in the winter, fireworks on Independence Day, and has a huge playground, skateboard park and lakes for the rest of the year...Mt. Trashmore...

Good morning! 23° now, allegedly going to 40° today. The snow from yesterday was light, but didn't completely melt. Warm up this weekend and rain.

Hope buppies & Toppop are doing better.

I have had some things on order from Amazon as well. It seemingly is taking forever to get delivered. Starting to wonder if delivery is worse without Prime.

The joys of tech support. Got a call yesterday, guy gave me a serial number, I showed him where to get the technical information he needed to troubleshoot his problem. His description "it just stopped running". He wanted to know where to start. I wanted to say "does it have a rod through the block" but didn't. Gave him some suggestions. He called back later and said the information i gave home was wrong. He gave me the S/N, which was COMPLETELY different than the previous call. A mere 14 years difference in machine age. Turned out he had a blown fuse. Check the obvious......and get the S/N right!

Last year, this Thursday was an odd day. Some highs, some real lows.

The usual morning of a blood draw first, my right arm in the elbow area was getting to be a real mess. Sore and black and blue. Then the ****** Youth made their appearance and trashed everything in the room.

Dr. Deb A was on vacation. She had someone from her department covering for her. Turns out he wasn't as invested in her "program" as she was. The volume of sludge coming out of me via the NG tube had dropped dramatically after the fun times full of barium. It had also changed color. Instead of looking like ink, it was more like a dark green.

Vitals continued stable, my heart rate had dropped a bit more. Still high, but getting closer to something considered not terrible. Temperature remained at 97.3° or so. BOL was sitting at 95%-96% even as the flow was ratcheted down each day. I was still getting those miserable shots in the abdomen with blood thinners and my fingers on my left hand were abused several times/day to check for diabetes. The blood sugar numbers were falling daily. My potassium was a concern, but hey, that is normal, it is how I live, low potassium levels, so they were giving me something to boost the potassium level.

The doctor covering for Dr. Deb A showed up along with Dr. Deb B. The blockage had moved again. It hadn't shrunk, just moved. It was decided to allow me to have some water and ice chips to see how I handled it. If ok, then there was a chance the NG tube was going to be withdrawn. That went fine. Then the suction in the NG tube was turned off and I was allowed some more water and ice chips. Again, no issue.

Early evening, the decision was made to remove the NG tube. And give me liquids, jello, etc. Which they did. And kept giving me water. The water was awesome as my mouth/throat were so dry after having NOTHING by mouth for over a week. It was also the evening I had a nurse's aide that was truly the only nurse I can speak ill of. I don't think she liked me and I didn't like her. That will come to a head next week. Just gonna call her B for b*#&@.

The "experiment" failed miserably. My stomach was simply not ready to function correctly. I ended up bloated and in a lot of discomfort. Before the night was out, I had a new NG tube installed and they were sucking sludge out of me again. I was crushed mentally. B blamed me for drinking what they provided too me. Our "relationship" would get worse.

By midnight, I was seriously down over the turn of events.

Everyone stay safe out there!
