Good morning, the low was 39°F and going to 48. Wind NE 11 gusting to 19 mph. 30% chance of showers or drizzle.

Off to town today and possibly get the hydraulic pressure test gauge.
The wood conveyor is put to bed for this season. That was the biggest fall job I had to do. All the rest are piddly little jobs.

I've been bitten by a dog once in my 75 years on the green side of the earth. It was at work and two weeks after I got bit the dog got run over by a tractor trailer. It couldn't have happened to a nicer dog. Boo-hoo. There was no damage to the trailer.

I have a bunch of 8mm home movies of the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway that my Grandparents took on their trips up from Florida and back down, that I have had transferred to digital media.

Have a safe day all

The Blue Ridge Parkway is very close. We see The Peaks and Sharp Top from here.
Down the road is Centerville Rd which crosses 122 (to Big Island) over to 43 (to Peaks & Buchanan.
We walk around Lake Abbott quite often and up to Sharp Top. One evening wife & I at top of Sharp Top someone pulled the light switch. Dusk to pitch black! I told wife I can tell "down" so we held hands and made it.
Now I carry two small flashlights on keychain! That was an experience!
Sort of like this :

wow, If I was going down at dark I’d take the road. We passed many people hiking up the trail, one guy ran up and down.

Good Morning.
It’s 55 and cloudy, a high of 75 and good chance of thunderstorms late in the day.

Yesterday’s trip to Hilton Head went as planned, good weather and a smooth ride. But it did use up the whole day when you figure it’s an hour drive each way to the airport, and we stopped for lunch (dinner) at Mission BBQ on the way home.

I did spend a little time in the shop picking up and tinkering with mixes.

I don’t have a definite plan for today, but I have mountains of paperwork to wade through as well as work on some new documents and manuals. I also have more fun things that need to be done……

"I just got bit by a dog and _______ is on his way to take me to the emergency room."

Fortunately, it doesn't appear to be all that serious ... and the ironic part of it is that it was by a "vicious" pug/terrier mix ... that probably didn't weigh but about 15 lbs ...

Moral of the story: People that have dogs that they can't, or won't control, shouldn't have dogs ...

Hope everyone is having a better day than we're having here.
No the moral of the story is that people who can't control their dogs need to be sued or they will never change and the dog will continue to bite.
My insurance specifically added an Animal liability amendatory endorsement that EXCLUDES bodily injury caused by specific breeds of dogs. The breeds include Akita, Cane Corso, Chow Chow, Doberman, DogoArgentino, Mastiff, Pit Bull, Presale Canario, Rottweiler, Staffordshire Terrier (all), and Wolf or Wolf hybrids. Also all Animals with a history of biting as verified via public records or the filing of an insurance claim.

I hope their insurance does not have the exclusion or they carried special liability coverage.

Morning all, gray, 53 or so.
Didn't get tree done but did take the big saw out to clean up some more and moved a lot of stick and branches.
Got tire filled on walk behind blower. Had to use a tie down ratchet strap as bungees were not working.
Forks on tractor to move all that brush and some old stumps.
Wall papered the Halloween display, molding for frames has not arrived yet.

Eric- did you steal all my squirrels? We have none here, but Fox screaming in the night might be a cause:rolleyes:
LS-enjoy retirement!
Feel better Thomas- hope the meds will work a treat.
Spent quite a bit of my childhood on boats and many in the family owned a few, I would always see the bills from the ongoing repairs though, so never owned my own;)

Stay safe and be well,

This is the moon, too bright for camera to adjust, a few days back as 6:30am

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 6:15AM. Light rain this morning. Scattered thunderstorms for the afternoon. High 61F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
Looks like we might get a few showers today, but since late Saturday afternoon, this storm has given us about 5.5" of rain. And lots of wind. The satellite internet was down most of yesterday, and the bucket under the skylight in the van stayed dry. No more rain in the 10-day, so maybe we'll get another week of fall. Some interesting stats from the NWS this morning:

rainStats.jpg

Oroville, CA — The Lake Oroville water level has increased by 17.44 feet to 647.86 feet above sea level since 5:00 PM on Friday, 10/22/2021, when the level was 630.42 feet.
The level has to rise 252.14 feet to reach full at 900 feet.

Lots of road closures due to flooding and downed trees. And then there's this, not far from here in the Feather River Canyon:
slide.jpg

Also got notice that the Dixie Fire has finally been contained at just shy of 1,000,000 acres.

I stayed home, inside, and read a book, stoked the fire, and made a pizza using some of that pepperoni spice. It was hot, but didn't taste much like pepperoni, though the pizza was good. And there's leftovers. 👍

If it clears off this afternoon, I'll take a walk around and see how much damage the wind did, and see if I can find the stuff that blew away. Not sure what else is on today's agenda.

Hope everybody's week gets started in the right direction.

Dang! unbelievable the responses on here.
I had to go back 37 posts or so to find the original post pertaining to the dog bit.
Only one person knows what went on prior to the dog bit or who the owners are,
they may be relatives or good neighbors.
As was posted it doesn't appear to be serious.
Why in the holly heck the outcry to sue and how much they could get, dang people slow the heck down
till more of the story comes out.
Damn
