It seems ironic that we spend our lives gathering wealth and collecting stuff. By the time we get a bit comfortable, our health or that of a loved one, or we lose our life partner that we shared with, keeps us from fully enjoying it. A lot of our friends and family that we shared life with are gone. Kind of feels like an empty victory. I don’t think about it much, but occasionally reality knocks.
On a brighter note, most of us still have our sense of humor and enjoy playing with our toys.
Same kind of thoughts at times. 🤔

One of our daughters has had Margaret and me on her family plan for our cell phones for a lot of years. A couple of times she's asked if we wanted new phones, but we didn't need them. I had to replace the battery in mine once and it seems that batteries have to be frequently (daily) charged in both in recent times, and I recently mentioned about wishing I could hear sounds and voices on mine better. So day before yesterday, she called to ask me to meet her at a nearby T-Mobile store. It was an interesting experience for this old man. A cute little girl (to me, at least) had us pick out the phones we wanted. Then we sat down at a table with the new phones and old ones all laying out together and that little girl working on her little digital screen and I think without even picking up phones transferred all our phone numbers, photos, etc. from the old phones to the new; incredible technology to me. And it's been something of a learning experience for both me and Margaret to use these new, slightly larger phones. I had told our daughter that I have no need for all the fancy other stuff; just need a PHONE in case I should have car trouble or such. The only time my cell phone has been used in recent years is when I go the store and Margaret calls to add something to my shopping list, or I find something on the list and find there's several sizes, flavors, or such of that item on the shelves and I have to call her to ask which one she wants.:) But Margaret does use hers instead of a computer for Facebook, shopping, etc.

And then yesterday, after I finished mowing the yard again, I realized that our new phones had to be paired up with the system in the car. Now I've done that before, but this time I ran into a problem. So the T-Mobile store is close and I went there to see if that young lady knew how to do that, also, and I had a couple of other questions, too. Well, I got there before she was due to be at work, but the guy who was there answered the other 2 questions I had, then went out to the car with me and very promptly paired up both our phones with the car.

Aaah yes. Technology has left this senile old man behind.

Good morning! 73˚F heading to the mid 90s, 98% humidity. Park Cedarcide today, so have to really watch hydration. During the summer we have gone to one day a month working in the park instead of one day a week. I may skip July and August unless a cool front slips down it will only get hotter the next two months. We are still waiting for the date of the official opening of this new park.

Since the longest day of the year has past I'm looking forward to less sunlight every day.

Good morning.
It’s 52 with a high of 77 forecast with clear skies. Yesterday the Tempest and Davis came to an agreement that we got.41 inches of rain.

Yesterday was interesting, departing on the hot side of the cold front and landing on the cold side. It wasn’ quite 50 when we got out of the plane. And it was an interesting ride across the front, much worse coming home. You definitely would not have wanted to be applying lipstick!

When I got home son and his fiancé were there, they made a vice dinner for us and invited his brother and wife to join us. They wanted to ask about having their wedding here. Nice conversation and a great visit. But I got nothing else done.

Today should keep me busy.

Morning all.

A great morning here - currently 53F going to 84F by afternoon. Cool and crisp now which is fantastic. Low humidity.

Wife made it half way on her 4 day bike trip from Cincy to Cleveland on the Ohio-Erie trail.

My youngest son is off work today so we are heading to the farm to clean up some trees with dead branches. Cut off the dead wood and haul to burn piles. Probably take 4 or so hours. I also need to trim some lower hanging branches that prohibit easy mowing.

I cut and he loads into tractor bucket and drives to the piles. This is where a grapple would be handy. But, we have to do this once a year or so and it seems a waste to get a grapple for such limited work. Besides - I don’t mind using the chainsaw when someone else does the lifting.

My son has grown and is 6-1 and 230. He is strong - so we’ll be rearranging some stuff in the barn.

Should be a good day.

Be safe.

no worries here Paul...:)
No, I never starred in one of those "reviews" in New Hope.
But oh did our little river town have drag queens. At one point early on I was told half
the town's population was gay, primarily because of restaurant wait staff living in apartments over the stores
downtown. What a place to grow up, thankfully enough miles out of town where the only priority was finishing farm chores.

still a big crowd downtown during the summer and Fall, see and be seen, like walking the boardwalk at the beach.
And then like migrating elk the tourists jam the main road South to get to Peddlers Village in Lahaska, big shopping spot.
Intersections get all backed up, better to go way around on back roads.

Mo, nice to have strong sons. Best wishes for wife's safe and fun trip.

PT done, still in a lot of pain, therapist wrote up report today recommending steroids, which thankfully
almost always work for me. Just try to take as little as possible. Guy across from me had a whole new shoulder put in and
he was doing better than I was.

With a pocket full of $5 off coupons, I'm headed out to local nursery to see what kind of fruit trees they have. Landlord coming on Sat
morning where I am plying her with fresh picked beets and greens. Figured it might be a good time to ask her for permission to plant a dwarf apple tree.
Lot of years experience pruning apple trees so why not. Have to spray them a lot but there's organic sprays for that. And with just one or two trees, you can do it
all with a 2 gallon sprayer.
