Great photo and glad you have good memories. Tough hike. The park Service added a new parking area a few years ago.
Wasn't my photo. Just a picture I found of the same view. The hike up the east side was wonderful, especially liked the couple of places we had to climb up between the rocks chimney style. Was sort of a "rite of passage" for the children.

.73 inches of rain and much more to come and temps are dropping fast, in the 40's tonight.
Came home wet and cold and turned heat back on in house. Ahhhh.

had a good lunch with local Quaker K-8 school board members, they want me back on the board, and I'm glad
to do it. Restaurant in Peddlers Village, Lahaska was absolutely full, mostly older folks not wearing masks.
Even the young employees of the Giant Food store weren't wearing masks, which surprised me. I did...and will for another week or two.
Then a nice pizza out with an old friend. Spinach, broccoli, garlic and tomatoes in what turned out to be a white pizza. Next time
I'll order red. Brought some home for lunch tomorrow.

Nothing at all planned for tomorrow and supposed to be wet and windy.
Maybe I'll try to sleep in.

Corn is looking good Don.

No rain yet, some very heavy rain is missing us about 5 miles to the north. I’m hoping we get a couple of inches but it’s not looking good right now.

TXDon, is there a possibility of a second corn crop? Or do they plant beans right after the corn?
No, the fields will only grow corn. They harvest after the stalks turn brown and the corn is hard in late July. They then mow the stalks and plow them under. During harvest the corn husk fly through the air and sometime are taken many miles away by warm whirlwinds. They land in our yard every year and we are about 30 miles away.

Buckeye - you need us to put up some one way signs in your house, as a reminder to yourself.

Another .2" rain this evening.

45.7F and cloudy @ 22:15, headed down to ... 46F ... ??? ...

We're at 0.68" since midnight and calling for more rain tomorrow. Still no signs of any washouts ... (y)

Don't think I got enough sleep last night before I woke up this morning, ended up taking a late afternoon nap for 2 - 3 hours.

I did get the mealworm feeder from up top moved down here near Nest Box No.1 during the break in the rain. Put out 10 meal worms in it, they were gone in pretty short order (< 1 hour) Refilled it with another 10 just as The Woman was getting home.

Also got hopper feeder and two sunflower tube feeders refilled before she arrived and put out 10 mealworms in the can for the bluebirds in the back. Rechecked that one, same deal: picked clean in less than hour ... so I put out another 10 just before dinner.

Did manage to get the second actual mealworm feeder all put together before she got home. Will put it up tomorrow if there is a break in the rain.

Be interesting to see if there are any results from the aerating and soil amendments after this rain. I did notice today there was no standing water in the low spots in the lawn.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Good evening all. 65F for the start, 1.1 inch in rain gauge, overcast, light breeze. Moderate wind day, no rain during day despite forecast, partial clearing late morning. High temp was 76F. Bike ride this morning on the Peugeot, was going to weed eat after lunch but fuel line started breaking right and left. had to go track down replacement fuel lines, and actually found some. Got then picked up and on the weed-eater, but not running right. May have fuel lines crossed on carb. No nap again :(
