Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High near 80F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Still no rain in the 10-day. None in the WU monthly calendar, either. I went out all the way to July.:(

Hope some materializes for you in the coming days ... (y)

What ever happened to your land plane project, RS?

Still there ... along with all the other "rainy day" projects ... ;)

Have been letting some of the parts "season" outside to break down the mill scale ... next step for those will be to wet sandblast them with the new attachment for the pressure washer. But that won't happen until it gets warm out again (temps > 75F)

I do have the one side panel up in the shop I need to check to see if there is any more welding left to do on and finish that up if so, then get it outside so it can start rusting.

Still have to cut the 1/4" plate for the other one and bend the runner and get it welded up. Might try the cutting torch on that ... to get a little practice in.

Didn't seem like I got much done yesterday, just filling up the other half of a pallet.

Hate to say it, but I'm all too familiar with how that goes ... ;)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Same to ya ... (y)

RoyJackson said, "I watched "Hacksaw Ridge" last night....for those of you not aware, this is a biographical movie about Desmond Doss...the only conscientious objector to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor."

Yep, Roy, I've watched that show at least twice, and I'll probably watch it again if or when I notice it coming on TV.

RS, pic of the barn owl box please.

Sure.

I'll grab one later when I go downstairs to work on it.

what size will the opening be?

The opening is an oval, 4 1/2" wide by 3 3/4" tall.

do you have internal steps/grasping points?

No - apparently they are not needed.

The exterior has three 3/8" slots cut into it (on 1" vertical spacing) below the opening to allow the adults to grip before entering, which are the width of the opening and 1/8" deep.

A set of plans for this nest box are available (hopefully) at the link below:

Barn Owl Nest Box

A fuller set with much info on barn owls (31 pages) are at the following link:

Build a Barn Owl Box

These plans (the second set) contain a template for the opening which can be printed out and used to mark the panel for cutting.

61°F and 0 inches rain.

Just kinda putter around this morning. This afternoon we are invited to a vaccinated friend’s house. They have vaccinated relatives visiting we haven’t seen in a couple of years. In years past this would have been a small party. Tommy makes a really good chili.

Water filter has been dribbling out all night, but ever so slowly. Hoping I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

RS, thanks my version was three 1/2"x1/2" internal oak steps glued and screwed in on 1 inch vertical spacing.
Something for the chicks to grab on to pull themselves up and out the entrance

rain has stopped for now. First of my driveway daffodils starting to bloom, should be very pretty next two weeks with
forsythia as backdrop. Then I planted about a dozen calladium bulbs that came in, on the house's shady side.

speaking of Studebakers, look what this month is on Hemmings calendar.

Did a little gobbler hunting yesterday...opening day, but no luck in the thick fog...my son got one at a different farm.

Apples are in full bloom and smell like heaven.

Eating lunch at a grill we heard about online, At Mt Holly springs PA. Very good.
The place we like to eat at around the corner apparently closed last year.. we actually thought about eating there till we saw it looked closed. Glad we came in here. Nice owners running the place.

We are in the middle of apple country. The trees are all blooming. Very pretty.

That does look a bit like my 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk; just a different color.

Wngsprd, he only wanted to lower the price $500 and it would take $10-$12k to get it in satisfactory condition.

78 and bright sunshine.

Deer? Has anyone contacted you're local TPWD Biologist? We work year round with ours .. to control our doe over population.

They are the ones that issue the deer trapping permit. We also do deer counts for TPWD. Our wildlife committee is in close contact with them. The resident are given a list of landscape plants are the deer do not eat. It's an on going battle since we do not have a perimeter fence and have 5,300 acres. A bait laced with a birth control would be good.

My concern with that would be them attempting to fledge too early. Don't really know though ... could be they're inclined to hang around until the parents stop providing food.

Have some daffodils here that still haven't bloomed I think. However forsythia has been in full swing, some even appear to be dropping their blooms.

Then I planted about a dozen calladium bulbs that came in, on the house's shady side.

Haven't had any of those in a long time. Might have to consider planting some on the front of the house to go along with the blue-green hostas ... once I get the Japanese yews removed and the retaining wall built for the planting bed there.
