48 going to 82 and sunny. I think I'm getting spoiled.

Pop, that's quite the mower.

Thomas, sounds like your wildlife is getting popular.

BEF, did you save your landscape cloth? Our 6' wide similar material is still in good shape. I cut a lot of holes in it for planting last year...just hope my wife wants to plant similarly spaced plants this year...otherwise???

Warm weather brought in our 1st hummingbird of the year...same date as last year. We've been enjoying activity on our front porch...Carolina wrens have built a nest over our front door, using some winter greenery decorations as a base. Now that the female is sitting on eggs, the male perches on a tall plant and dive bombs "our" favorite chipmunk (Choco) that lives at the end of the porch...the wren leaves all other birds and squirrels in the yard alone, just doesn't like chipmunks.

Took a nice springtime hike among the redbuds, dogwoods, wild apple and wildflowers yesterday and then roasted coffee. Back to the firewood today.

No arguing that. I've ran a lot of tractors with AC cabs but never owned one. In no way I would dispute what you are saying. Duly noted sir.

Yep!

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:15AM. Mainly sunny to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 74F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
I keep hoping for rain in the 10-day, but so far no sign of it. Hope in one hand, spit in the other, and see which one's got more in it...

Welcome weld.man and blacktruck. The more the merrier!

Funny poem, Chris; funny video too, Paul. Thanks. I needed that! 😄

Biggest lawnmower I've ever seen, Paul. I hate mowin', so I understand.

That's a good feelin' when a problem like that gets taken care of safely, huh Rick?

Got all the downed trees bucked yesterday, and I'm probably still shy of whats needed to fill those last three pallets. But with the ground in the wood yard clear of trees, but covered in sticks, it was time for a little clean up. Opened the grapple all the way, then back dragged with the lid tines, floating the FEL so it would follow the contours of the ground. Made a nice line, then used the short tines on the bottom to push it into a mound, grabbed it by closing the grapple, and then on to the burn pile. I was surprised how clean the ground got, and really happy I did it all from the comfort of the tractor seat. My back was even happier.😄

Looking for more wood, I couldn't help but notice all the dead standing manzanita in that area. It's been dead almost three years now, and is all bleached to gray, giving the place a kind of haunted look. I love manzanita in the wood stove, so I figured it was time to try out the root part of the root grapple. Eased up to the first one with the tines digging in, felt a little resistance, and out popped the bush, root ball and all. Broke it up a little so it was easier to grab, ran the root ball over to the burn pile, and started a new pile for the rest of it. On the next one, I just grabbed the root ball end on, then curled it so the bush was standing straight up, maybe 20' in the air. Ran it over to the pile for later processing with the chainsaw. Kept on going for an hour or so and cleaned up about 4000 square feet of ground I couldn't even walk through before. That grapple just paid for itself!👍

Got a fair sized burn pile now, but we'll have to see how the wind blows before I fire it off. There's a little poison oak in it, and I wanna make sure the smoke blows in a safe direction.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Roy, I have never been inside my ego chainsaw, be interested to hear how easy they are to take apart. At least it should be a simple electrical switch, not like the convoluted linkages you find on some 2 stroke saws.
Doesn't look difficult to take it apart, but troubleshooting electronics is not a skill I possess.
I'm hoping it's just gunk in the trigger/trigger lock assembly

62°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 79° today. We hit 84° yesterday. Some storms taking their time moving towards us across Missouri should arrive sometime this afternoon.

Saw a sizeable white cloud of something at one end of the pond last evening. Walked out to see what it was, and found some of the petals from the blooms on our ornamental apricot trees had blown into the pond and congregated at the west end.

I had thoughts similar to many others here, David ... the things you see when you don't have a scoped rifle in your hand.

Nice work on the dead tree, Rick. I surely would have hated mowing anywhere near that thing.

That certainly is some mower, Paul.

Mornin, raining here, works for me as they put out a warning yesterday for wildfire watch.
Got 5 beds raked, still quite a few to go, but maintaining them better last year, means less raking now.
Was three dump carts full for all 5 beds, last year it was 6 for each bed.

LCR-don;t you love when a tree does the expected. That area looks real nice after the cleanup
Paul(PopG) no thats a mower!
