Good morning!!!!

58-72 today. Other than hooking up the driveshaft on the MMM (PITA), and mowing, I didn’t get much done yesterday. I hope to do better today, but we shall see.

I’ve been paying bills this morning, not my favorite job but a necessary evil. At least most of them are automatically withdrawn and the rest are online, I’ve written three checks in the last fourteen months.

I’ve got to order white stone and sand for a couple of small projects over the next couple weeks. We have to decide what flowers we want this year.
It will be a joint decision, she will say what she wants, I’ll say what I want, then we’ll compromise and get what she wants.

Have a good day.

67F and partly cloudy @ 10:00, supposedly heading up to a high of 81F for the day.

Woken up this morning by the drumming of the pileated woodpecker. He's been going at it - almost continuously - for at least the last hour and a half ...

Weeded and cleaned out the hosta bed on north side of the shop yesterday, along with screening a bunch more compost/soil.

Drove down to the south end on the trail over by the pole barn, one more tree down across the trail there that will need to be cleared. Lots more down in the woods.

There were around 6 - 8 deer lounging in the shade on the north side of the barn:

Put the forks on the Kubota and moved a pallet around back and then went over and got the MMM out of the barn and brought it over here to the house.

Will grease that this morning, and the FEL before I take it off, and then get on the mowing.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Hump Day ... (y)

That's exactly how landscaping decisions are made at our house as well, Randy. Then, she tells me where she wants them, and I dig the holes.

Biggest lawnmower I've ever seen, Paul. I hate mowin', so I understand.

I used to mow with a Toro 580D, which also had a 16 foot cut and folding wings. The advantage of that was that you could mow with any combination of decks folded up to fit in tight spaces. The disadvantages were that it was another 80hp engine to maintain along with two batteries, 30 gallons of hydraulic oil, and a fairly complex control system. I.e. if it sensed wheelspin it would raise the deck on that side. That was all done with hydraulic logic rather than electronics. All things considered, it was pretty reliable, and I maintained it myself, Toro maintenance is insanely expensive at the dealer.
I had the chance to buy 2 of the progressive mowers from a local sod farm that stopped growing sod, as they sold the development rights for preservation. Now they just rent the land out to grow crops.
The bonus of buying both was that a got a large skid of spare parts. So I kept the better of the two, and sold the other as well as the Toro.
I pull the progressive with a Kubota L6060, and now mow in air conditioned comfort listening to XM radio.

Going to be a nice day today. Thinking of putting the snow blower away and getting the mower out even though that is surely tempting fate. Looking out the front window it looks like it snowed. White cherry blossoms.

A friend of mine sent me these lyrics.

Hard On Equipment / Tool for the Job

Corb Lund

Album Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier!

He's been roundin' off bolts since the age of fourteen
Was that a five eighths or a nine sixteenths?
He's got a metric socket that don't quite fit
Well it'll wiggle just a little but it ain't quite stripped
The safety guard's gone from his grinding machine
He got a stiff paint brush he only kinda got clean
He's the hired man, my neighbor and a cousin in law
He's a jerry riggin' fool, he got the tool for the job

Well it's vise grips for pliers, and pliers for a wrench
A wrench for a hammer, hammers everything else
It just don't seem to make much difference
I sure do like him but he's hard on equipment
I sure like you son, but you're hard on equipment

His corners ain't square and his floor ain't level
And he's always had trouble with the old tape measure
His doors don't close ‘cause the jamb ain't plumb
And he's a Goddamn menace with an air nail gun
They love to see him comin' at the lumberyard store
Fixed the leak in his roof with a two by four
Drilled holes in his boards with the wrong kinda bit
And when they don't line up he blames the government

He got the whole front yard full of fix ‘em up cars
Three don't run and the rest won't start
Everything's fine with his rebuilt motor
Except of course for the couple spare parts left over
Baler wire tie downs goin' down the road
On two bald tires and an oversize load
He ain't never read a manual ‘cause that's like cheatin'
He don't mind a little grease on his hands while he's eatin'
He's got busted up knuckles, his thumb got bruised

You don't think he was talking about Me? Whats wrong with baler wire?

Chris

Love it, fits so many people, sometimes me.

Paul, local Toro commercial dealer in Doylestown was owned by a classmate, Frank Shuman, who inherited business from father, there
by the airport. The lawn in front of their office was always perfectly striped and deep green.

Tooth pain steadily increasing to dull strong ache where the root canal is needed. About two minutes before I called dentist to remind them
to call me if cancellation, they called me and I'm on for next Tuesday. I wish it was today, guess a couple of tylenol are in order. I have a lot of other
aches and pains competing for attention but now that upper molar is making sure I know he's number one...
Yup, got it, no need to keep making your point.

bought a few more small plantings for mulched gardens around house and will plant them this afternoon when things dry up.
Also need to change oil in snowblower and put that away for season. It's only got a few hours on it but want to get the break in oil out of there and
whatever metal is in it.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

BEF, did you save your landscape cloth? Our 6' wide similar material is still in good shape. I cut a lot of holes in it for planting last year...just hope my wife wants to plant similarly spaced plants this year...otherwise???

Wind has blown it up some, but will use same for the 3rd yr.

Wife wants to expand garden this year (I’ve been trying to go smaller). Will lift the grass off to left and till another 6 ft.
