43°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 66° today. Chances for a few storms this week, but temps in the 60s.
We had a beautiful weather weekend here, sunny and low 60s both days. We spent most of Saturday in the garage building new dog agility stuff for The Wife, followed by assembling the new garage storage cabinet. This is the heavy duty stuff that will end up in the pasture once the fence is installed back there. For now, it's in the back yard.
Sunday morning we assembled the new bike rack and got it all set up on her car. We had already planned on taking a local ride, but this inspired us to head over to the MCT Trails and take a longer ride. We took the short loop (10 miles) for a total of just over 13 miles. Not too bad for the first ride of the year.
We finished Sunday with a trip to the new Applebee's restaurant in Breese IL to celebrate recent birthdays of the youngest stepson and his girlfriend. She just turned 21, and he's 22 now.
David, I just use the "Like" button to show I like a post. I couldn't care less if it's associated with points.
Mostly_, I remember vividly the Taum Sauk Reservoir failure. Fortunately, it happened in December when there weren't any campers in that area. Otherwise, it would have been much more catastrophic. We used to camp and canoe on the Black River near Lesterville MO a couple times a year back then. That was a beautiful river until that flood. It was never quite the same after that.
We pay for trash pickup at our place through private contractors. We had the big one that most use for a long time, until they decided to triple their rates over the course of just a few months a couple years ago. We switched to a smaller contractor and couldn't be happier with their service. They'll take pretty much anything that's not obviously hazardous.
Like others, glad to see we survived the contentious conversation.
