Good morning!!!!

43°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 66° today. Chances for a few storms this week, but temps in the 60s.

We had a beautiful weather weekend here, sunny and low 60s both days. We spent most of Saturday in the garage building new dog agility stuff for The Wife, followed by assembling the new garage storage cabinet. This is the heavy duty stuff that will end up in the pasture once the fence is installed back there. For now, it's in the back yard.

Sunday morning we assembled the new bike rack and got it all set up on her car. We had already planned on taking a local ride, but this inspired us to head over to the MCT Trails and take a longer ride. We took the short loop (10 miles) for a total of just over 13 miles. Not too bad for the first ride of the year.

We finished Sunday with a trip to the new Applebee's restaurant in Breese IL to celebrate recent birthdays of the youngest stepson and his girlfriend. She just turned 21, and he's 22 now.

David, I just use the "Like" button to show I like a post. I couldn't care less if it's associated with points.

Mostly_, I remember vividly the Taum Sauk Reservoir failure. Fortunately, it happened in December when there weren't any campers in that area. Otherwise, it would have been much more catastrophic. We used to camp and canoe on the Black River near Lesterville MO a couple times a year back then. That was a beautiful river until that flood. It was never quite the same after that.

We pay for trash pickup at our place through private contractors. We had the big one that most use for a long time, until they decided to triple their rates over the course of just a few months a couple years ago. We switched to a smaller contractor and couldn't be happier with their service. They'll take pretty much anything that's not obviously hazardous.

Like others, glad to see we survived the contentious conversation.

Yesterday after working in the yard and garden, I lay down in the grass and looked up at the half moon in the bluebird sky...I told my wife I needed a new 3 point implement...a 3 point recliner chair I could enjoy for a nice rest. She said to ask you guys whether you've ever seen one?

Otherwise, I'll need to ask RS or RNG to weld up a 3 point frame, LS to make a furniture frame, and Randy to upholster it...and of course, Rick to market it with his Cha ching company.

An optional beach umbrella and vibrator system .. would help marketing. Cha Ching!

PJS posted, "We pay for trash pickup at our place through private contractors."

That reminds me of something that happened when we lived out in the country down in Navarro County. There was NO official or governmental garbage collection, but an individual had his own little business; no compactor, just a trailer that he used. And where he had to take the stuff, I know he had to pay to go in there to dump it, so I really didn't see how he could hardly afford to do the job. And then came a day when his mobile home burned. I knew he was short of money, so I just paid ahead; paid for a full year of his service in advance. He rented a vacant house that had an old barn, and he kept picking up the garbage. And the very day that my one year paid ahead service expired, he disappeared.:) I never knew what happened to him, but when the place he'd been living was sold, I saw that he had quit taking the trash to the dump. That old barn was stuffed FULL of garbage.😀

Not quite Ron's shirtsleeves weather for a wimp like me, I'm still wearing a beanie hat and had a thick fleece under my jacket.

Check, thought of you and your maple syrup yesterday when I was out with the chainsaw. I thought it had started to rain, then realised the "raindrops" were sap from a birch branch that I had cut off overhead earlier to allow me to fell an adjacent alder. How much syrup will you get from 3 gallons of sap ?

How many of us oldies thought how slender those connectors were when they first came out, after the 25 way D's ? :)

The yield from Maple sap is 1 to 40 after you boil it down, so I will need 40 litres to get 1 litre of Maple Syrup. More than halfway there already, and several more warm days to come! (1 U.S. gallon = 3.89 litres.)
