Way back in 1994 (the year I bought this place) I had a contract with the oil supplier to supply furnace oil to me. I wanted to go immediately on the 'will call' plan, because we also had wood heat. They said "no" we'll put you on the 'degree plan' which to this day I have no idea what the criteria is. Long story shorter, after one time pumping 50L ( about 10 gallons) they took me off the degree plan, but didn't call and say anything, 2 months later we woke up to a cold house and no oil. (We had run out of wood).
I called them up and told them to get down here (80 mile drive round trip) and get the furnace going, PDQ. We've got a contract and you (the supplier) just breached it. I gave them 1 hour to do the deed or I was calling my lawyer. 45 minutes later they were here, filled the tank, relighted the furnace and checked to make sure the pipes weren't frozen.
I figured that the lawyer threat would let them know that I wasn't going to take any B.S. from the biggest oil and fuel supplier in Canada.
I am still on the will call plan 26 years later, with $1200.oo worth of credit in my account.

Boy! That was a job clearing the lady's roof...my part was twofold...be a safety watch (in case neighbor got hurt or fell off the roof) and help shovel the snow that had fallen on her deck and walks.
I'd forgot to mention this morning that I had to replace a shear bolt on the snow blower...fortunately, it was the easier one to get to...anyway, that's done too.
Time for some chow and a beer!

it's trying but not doing so well, but when sun does peek out, the reflection off all the snow is blinding.
Ken, I'm assuming you are plugged into St. Mary's? Hope they call you soon.
Some very cold weather coming next week. I'm ordering gardening tools to get me in the spirit, tomato cages, weeders, etc.

Good morning, Kenmbz no sun here only the liquid variety. What was 4 feet on the ground last Friday turned into 2 feet of packed snow yesterday and I had the 1/2 mile of my road plowed to the pavement. Started to snow again this morning with more on the way. Is there such a thing as too much seat time?
Sodamo, thanks for the postcard comment but I think you have an incredible place after looking at the link. I have never been to HI. and it is on the bucketlist before I ....well you know! The photo is my guest house I built in 1978 and only have friends and family there and never to be rented.
Mostly-gas, Thanks for the welcome. This forum is welcoming compared to the "green one" with it's less than amiable persona, enough said! I plan to stick around and take part and enjoy the camaraderie I have seen here.

I found this road in 1973 and try not to take others since. I found it when I came to the fork in the road in my younger days and took it! (Yogi Berra)
50 miles to the nearest city in either direction from here. I see more animals than humans (have wife) on a daily basis and would have it no other way.
Vaccine PFFFFTTT. Big clinic the other day 50 miles away with 900 doses given. Ran out and turned away many who waited in line 5 hours. Heard later they gave county jail inmates the vaccine to all who wanted it. We are in the eligible age group (old) and are on half a dozen waiting lists. Think kicking the sheriff in the balls would get me a vaccine?
