My insert has a variable fan as well. We updated windows, doors, and added insulation. Doesn't take much to heat the house anymore. So even when the fan is on low on the insert it will run you out of the house if the outside Temps are mid 30's or higher.

So, it only gets used when the temperatures are gonna be below freezing for a few days or power outages. I just run an extension cord inside and run it off the generator.

Thomas, NOW you tell me it was "do nothing day" ! ..... too late....

I got up to the saw mill a little later than I thought I would.... could be due to the fact it was really, really hidden..... the original owner (50 years ago) started the mill out in the middle of no where.... over the years, residential properties went in surrounding the mill.... I thought the directions were wrong and turned around twice, after missing the street into the subdivision the first time.

The fourth time in, sure enough, there it was in the middle of a residential area.... go figure.

BUT.... well worth it! I was like a kid in a candy store! I ended up getting double the amount of wood I was planning to get, at less than what I was expecting to pay! They had a few stacks of cut off 'drops' that were 4-6' long.... perfect for what I needed. Got them 1/2 price of regular board foot price.
An amazing place... the owner took me on a tour. He is the son of the original founder. He had some trees / logs there that were 36" in diameter and 60' long! I will be returning there for sure!

Then when I got home, the neighbor that I put in fence posts for last weekend, called and asked if I could spread some roadbase for him. Took the tractor over and spread 16 tons of gravel (got the gravel addiction taken care of)... then cut in a drainage ditch along the drive so the stone doesn't wash away again. He is going to need about another 20 tons to complete the job.... next weekend maybe... (should need a gravel fix by then):D

Finished up the day with a slow cooked chuck roast, carrots, and mixed baby potatoes. The batch had some of those purple potatoes in it.... very strange to mash one of those and see bright purple inside:eek:..... they sure are tasty though!

Time to bed down for the night....

Antenna prep finished.

Removed and power washed the Yagis, reoriented to the cross polarized configuration. No improvement, signal strength the same.

Will mount the Verizon panel at top of pole turned about 90° left.
If that works than I’ll try the cross polarized set to my Mobley. That will leave the bottom antenna should I decide to get a cell signal booster.

Enjoyable pizza at a distance party with 4 of our friends, checking out the progress of their house being built.

Back in the '50s there was no such thing as a 'snow day' from school. There was a 'hurricane day' when hurricane Hazel blew through. I was in Grade 2 and we got out an hour early.

We had some snow days in the late 50's and early 60's, but I lived directly across the road from the school, so I could have always made it.

good morning all. 33 going up to 45 today in sun and clouds, should be a nice winter day.

I think it took more than a foot of snow to shut down our schools here back in the 50's, busses all had chains and I know the drivers did
not enjoy putting them on and off. I had to plow our 1/4 mile long lane anyway first before thinking about school. That bare steel steering wheel on the JD B
was sure cold. And the chains were a real pain to put on. Now I look back at that and think how much fun it would have been in a heated cab tractor.
With finger tip hydraulics instead of pumping the lever endlessly.

Simply because I think we all have gotten "softer" in our outlook, and for some more ready to sue, our school administrators today are more likely to call a snow day than they used to.
7 years ago when I moved to NC PA had six feet of snow that winter. That just isn't happening any more. Famous last words.

no plans for today

Coffee is cooling in first cup of the day. 31° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with chance of snow. Yesterdays trip to Port Huron went very well. Lighter than usual traffic and dry roads. Both aunts were glad to see each other. Celebrated my uncles 87th birthday while there. Going to put chipper on tractor today. Go to neighbors and help do some more cleanup of his woods.
House Finch.

LS, gravel fix.

David, hope Verizon works out for you.

Drew, I remember when you bought lotto tickets to big lotto amounts. You were going to buy everyone on Good Morning a new tractor if you won. Is the offer still good. :D

Buckeye, special prayers for your brother.

Looking, never had a snow day in the 40's and 50's either.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

31 right now...light to moderate snow falling. The high today is mid-30's. As far as accumulation...probably not the 6" from last night's forecast.
Right now, there's not enough on the drive to use the blower....walks will need it though. Hope this snow is drier then yesterday's!
