Good morning!!!!

68 and foggy, 78 later with off and on rain today. Like all in the East, turning cooler this week.
Breakfast, church service, Sams pick up and putting a pork roast in the pressure cooker.
Low energy day I’m thinking.
Have a good one.

Good morning to all! Low of 45, going up to 78 today. The wind kicked up big time yesterday, kicking up a bunch of dirt / dust, so limited outdoor activities.
There are two cold fronts coming across (reason for wind), dropping the high temp tomorrow to only 56. No real chance of rain.

The fuel pump did finally arrive yesterday.... after being scanned in and out of the USPS regional distribution center 14 times, starting at 2AM on Friday morning. ???? It was a small bag, so maybe kept getting left behind? Anyway, got that installed and garden tractor project is now completed.... for the time being..... tires were very cracked and slowly leaking air, so a new set is ordered.

BEF, have you ever considered a tooth bar for the BX? They make a considerable improvement in the digging capability of the smaller tractors. If you have any more digging to do, might be worth it. The grading looks good!

Drew, I/we are very happy for you! Sounds like your plan is coming together!

RS, the size of that Rhode should keep you busy for sure!

Our first tree to change colors here has always been a Honey Locust we have on the N side of the house. It has started changing a few of its leaves to yellow this past week... definitely a sign of cooler weather.

The parts came for the table saw, so maybe tackle doing that today. The neighbor needs help doing his 50 hr service (now at 65 hrs), so might go and help him today, if not tomorrow.

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 97F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph.
AQI 9 and 52, inside and out. Most of yesterday was below 50, with sunny blue skies, too. We're under another Red Flag Warning, and the power was shut off at 4:18AM. Winds have already swung around to the north, breezy in the 15 MPH range with a 25MPH gust in the wee hours. Supposed to stay that way most of the day, then gradually calm overnight into tomorrow morning. Last night's fire recap seemed confident that they'll be able to hold the lines, and there were a lot of aircraft over the southern hot spot most of the day. Hope they can keep it up today as well. High 90s through mid week, then cooling a bit toward the weekend. Fall is struggling to get a toe hold out here yet.

That's the biggest rhododendron I've ever seen, RS! What color are the flowers? I'll keep that stiffener in mind, and sequence the welding to balance some of the distortion front to back with it.

Don't think I've ever seen a tree that red before, Phil. What kind is it? Gonna be a colorful ride for you tomorrow if they're all doin' that!

Just a few handfuls of leaf litter and charred pine needles in the gutters yesterday, but a lot of silt in the bottom. I'll wait for cooler weather to give them one last good cleaning before the rains start.

Air purifier is on track for delivery Wednesday; better late than never, I guess.

Still getting the blinking alternator light on the van, so started reading up on possible causes. The one in there is from NAPA, and I found several reports of early failures with the same symptoms. Turns out that most any alternator from Subaru will fit on that engine, and some of them make a lot more amps than the one that's in there. I even found one company that makes "performance" alternators with up to 500 amps output. I don't need to weld with it, but it would be nice to get 80 or 90 amps at idle in case I need to charge the house battery in bad weather. Subaru wants upwards of $500 for a replacement, and I think I found a rebuilder with a good reputation that can supply one for only a fraction of that cost.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

!

I was just spreading top soil for my MIL that was dumped at least 2 yrs ago. The BX has a tooth bar for it , but I wanted to back drag and it was off. I didn’t have the engine reved up high enough, that helped. First time I used the BX.

I read that spraying dish soap in water will kill moss, but the long term solution is lime.

70F, "fair" and very breezy @ 11:30, headed up to a high of 79F for the day.

Weather forecast revised again, now calling for rain tomorrow ... but that's the only day in the ten day forecast at present. A little rain would be good. Still not calling for any lows in the 30's during the period.

Have not yet heard what is on The Woman's agenda for the day. I'm sure she'll be snappin' and poppin' here in a bit though ...

Need to go measure height to gutters on pole barn, also check inside to see if truss spacing will allow dump bed to be raised all the way up. If so will have to re-jigger things around in there.

Beyond that probably continue to haul mulch down for northeast planting bed and get it spread.

Possibly plant some more hosta, east, west, and southeast planting beds.

Refill bird feeders. Possibly relocate those off the lawn, a little closer to the house.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day.

That's the biggest rhododendron I've ever seen, RS!

Yeah ... same here. We have another one in the second circle that is probably close to as big around just not quite as tall ... it's getting to the point where I need to trim it back as it's starting to intrude on the driveway.

What color are the flowers?

Lower left in the picture below:

New-Arrival-Beautiful.jpg

We have a couple of white ones, and one red one as well.

I'll keep that stiffener in mind, and sequence the welding to balance some of the distortion front to back with it.

Sounds like a plan ...

Hope you get the charging issues on the van sorted out.

RS, the size of that Rhode should keep you busy for sure!

It's getting to the point now that I can actually get into the interior.

There's one large trunk (2 1/2" diameter) that is somewhat separate from the main plant. Might try to dig out the root to that and cut it loose from the main unit and see if I can get it to develop more roots over winter.

Glad to hear fuel pump finally arrived. That's some crazy stuff with the Post Office ... :confused2:

Good luck with the table saw ...

RS, looks like inspector is on the job letting know when bucket is full of chips.

Yup ... there was a whole crew of them (I counted 5) when I went over to grab the mulch.

Glad you got work done ... hope you get some rain ...

rswyan.
Like pic of the yard boss keeping eye on you. :)

Their rubbernecking was pretty funny ... :D

I actually turned off tractor once I was in the slot in the mulch pile and the youngin's came back over to check me out.

Not to close ... but you could tell they were really curious.

Told The Woman about Boo ... she was amazed ... ;)

69°F and .19 inches rain.

Got joists etc cut for project but not assembled. Air compression line needed to be changed out. Already had a replacement as it had been cut back a couple times already. Just called it a day after changing.

Maybe some football. Just not getting into it this season yet.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
