Good morning!!!!

68F @ 13:00, two local wx stations reporting 0.21" and 0.44" of precipitation so far, with more possible. Lightning Alert just issued, less than 6 miles away, also Severe Storm Alert (marginal) until Tuesday at 08:00. Just started pouring, lots of rumbles of thunder ...

Fantastic breeze last night around 04:00, great sleeping weather.

Squeak banished to the garage, other two penned up in the bedroom, Downstairs Cat up for a visit, prowling around complaining as she does, and looking for trouble ...

Seems like Kubota dealer may be closed today, looks like TSC has a decent replacement seat available on sale for the Kubota ... so probably just a trip to Menards and Tractor Supply.

Assuming the rain lets up ...

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day ...

Thomas, the kitty will be an outside cat. My middle daughter with autism is very allergic to cats. I'm still keeping an eye on the situation of having one outside.

Got it running.

Mowed front yard with it then switched to ZT.
Mowed all of yard and field.
Went to put ZT on mower lift, didn’t quite fit. Added washers as spacers to widen the wheel baskets and just Barely fits now.

Blades Takes 1 1/4” socket which I have but couldn’t budge, might need to get air impact, but don’t have one that large for impact.

Good deal. I wonder if that nut might be metric....being on a Kabootey.

It is relatively simple:
5lbs+ground beef (either pre ground or we buy whatever beef is on sale for cheaper.... sometimes brisket, which we grind ourselves)
5lbs+ ground chicken (we buy boneless breast and grind ourselves)
3lbs of either beef liver, chicken gizzards, or chicken livers (or Any combination of)(again ground up by us)
36 large eggs
2 lbs frozen peas / carrots / mixed vegetables
5lbs of fresh yams / sweet potatoes (cooked and peeled) or equivalent weight of canned yams
1 cup of unrefined coconut oil
2 cups (mixed liquid) of dry powdered goats milk (1 scoop per 8oz warm water makes 1 cup) (Whole vitamin D Milk can be used but is not as good)
8 oz of brown rice (precooked)
2 cups of quick oats
1 cup of dried Flaked parsley

Sometimes added: fresh broccoli or fresh cauliflower (diced into small pieces)

All meat ingredients are combined in a very large pot (or equally divided in two smaller) with the coconut oil, Goats milk, and parsley added.
Cook over low heat, stirring ingredients frequently until meat is "no longer pink" .

Eggs are added and stirred into meat mixture. Allow to cook, stirring occasionally until eggs look like chunks of scrambled eggs.

Then add all vegetables, allow to simmer approximately another 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add precooked rice, stirring until well mixed. Turn off heat and let stand approximately 10-15 minutes.

A good amount of fluid will rise to the surface, add the quick oats, spread on top of the fluid to absorb, then stir in the oatmeal until well mixed.

Once cooled to "warm to touch", we spoon out into 6x9 storage containers (I believe they are 1 qt. Containers) then freeze. A container lasts us 2 days, (4 feedings) for 2 dogs (1- 15 lbs, 1-35 lbs). Feedings are weight based: 1-1.5 oz per pound of optimal body weight, slightly more for younger active dogs, slightly less for older inactive dogs. (Max, our 35 lb gets 1 1/2 measured cups (24oz) Twice a day)

Oh, I cannot forget about the treat added on top of their food added every other day.... a half of a cooked chicken frank sliced up and mixed in.

We actually have a lab breakdown of all the Protein, vitamin and mineral content somewhere....?? The vet reviewed the ingredients and the lab report... said it was great..

Some very lucky dogs there, to have you as owners.

Good morning. It was 72° / 90% humidity this morning and our high is forecast to 92° this afternoon.

We had forecast of likely rain on Friday so .. I hooked up the chain harrow on the 55 HP tractor and went out to level old gopher mounds in our pastures.

View attachment 668806

I got two pastures done and by about 3 p.m. we were getting lightning in our area. I checked radar and a huge red cell was coming our way, from the south, so I parked the tractor outside so any rain would help wash off the dust from our recent rainless times. I decided to work on a couple of shop project and see what the weather would bring us. It got dark enough that all the outside security lights came on then the temperature start dropping noticeably and It went from 90° to 73° in less than 20 minutes. I just got started, in the shop and the sky opened up and high winds from the south. The south end of the shop has a 16' x 14' roll up door and the shop roof extends 16' beyond the door. I had to close the O/H door .. as rain was blowing 15-20' inside the shop. The storm lasted over an hour but .. gave us 2 1/2" of much needed rain. It likely won't end our burn ban but more rain is predicted for Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend?

Prayers to all.

Glad you and Don got some rain! Our place has greened up from the less than inch rains we had last week, but the huge cracks are still there.

Good morning to all! Low finally dropped to the low 50s early this morning.... it was still 74 at 11:00 last night.... Record high temps predicted for today and tomorrow, then the opposite for Tuesday.... a drop of almost 45 degree difference in the highs. We are starting the fal roller coaster temp swings...

Yesterday my son and I did some compressor maintenance and moved its location in the shop. He opened up the drain valve on the bottom (something that I always put off until tomorrow) and only a few drops oozed out. He then removed the entire valve assembly..... just a slight hiss and a few more drops.... mmmm.....

Then before I could tell him that what he was about to do wasn't a good idea, he shoved a small screwdriver up into the hole..... WHOOOOSSSHHHH!!!
He was instantly slimed with brown thick goo.... from his pant legs up to his head.... slicked his hair back like it was the 50's.....

I could not help but laugh out loud... hard! He even had to laugh after the initial shock wore off.... my guess is about a gallon of that gunk shot out in about 5 seconds.... there was a metal pan under the compressor which helped to perfectly direct the fluid at him....

We were still laughing about it a few hours later. It will be remembered for a long time..... one of those father / son stories for sure....

Anyway, got it all cleaned up, then added some 3/8" pipe with a ball valve to make draining it a lot easier....

Today I need to finish cleanup in the shop....

Great story, but sorry about your son's humbling experience. Still smiling here though. :)

Well I did the deed this morning. My first home haircut. I ordered a Wahl color pro kit from Walmart for 25$. Spread out a sheet in the kitchen set a chair on it and went to it. I did it mostly by feel. A mirror would help. The instructions suggested starting with the longest comb attachment and practicing. in my kit that was a number 8 which is one inch. Not bad. I might get my wife to help next time and then we can really get fancy. The thing will pay for itself in 2 cuts. I feel so much better. Of course my wife says she likes my hair longer. I was starting to think if I got some orange dye I could get a job with the circus.

Chris

Orange dye? You could move to Austin and fit right in with the circus clowns.

RNG, only bikes 10 years and older, but all brand new computers/wifi???? There really were some neat bikes....and some d&*mn ugly ones too...thankfully just a few of those. Hope y'all get some rain to quell the fires.

Ron, nice sunrise.

Happy Labor day all, I see some pretty big boat parades around the nation had taken place.

Rural king had a killer deal on new tractor seats a couple years ago. I bought one to put on the Massey, it’s still in the box.

It won't sit that long here: mine is cracked and the foam gets wet every time I forget to put the seat up and it rains ... like this morning ...
