57 and clear and calm...going to 84. Felt good outside feeding birds and chipmunks. Many of the male hummingbirds have migrated away. Another picture perfect start of the day for this time of year.

Ron, great red sky pic. Thanks.

LS, funny story about your son.

Decided to mow yesterday afternoon...grass growing so fast...looks so much better, but I think my boots are magnets...the amount of clippings that stick to them on heavy dew mornings like this.

Poured first cup of coffee. 64° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 77° with of and on thunderstorm. Got woke up 3 am by a thunderstorm that dropped 1/2" of rain. Yesterday was a conserve energy day. Today will be a inside day. House cleaning, laundry and other stuff.
Sunflower.

I posted the frogs on rocks picture on local Facebook community page. Turns out it reminded many people of a Budweiser commercial from the 90's. Over 400 likes and shares.

LS, I need to change Sassy's food,. For a little dog she has some of the worst gas. She eats three different foods. Hills, Purina and Royal Canin. Plus all the treat she can get me to give her.

Drew, BBQ chicken. :D

Mostly, I have lots of projects to do. Some days there is no gumption to get them done.

RS, I will suffer having BLT for lunch.

Everyone be safe safe and healthy.

Enjoy Labor Day.

Good Morning All.

big fire in California set off by smokebombs used in "gender reveal" party.
Had to look that up and boy did I have it wrong. Has to do with whether baby is boy or girl.
My first thought was some kind of "coming out" party for LBGT... nope.
7000 acres burned, hope someone gets fined.

As of 9PM yesterday, that fire, known as the Creek Fire, had grown to a little more than 73,000 acres, Drew. It's burning northeast of Fresno, in beautiful Sierra foothill and mountain country. There's a tiny little place called Mono Hot Springs, an old Japanese internment camp during WWII, that seems to have been consumed by it, and that was one of my favorite spots. Earlier this year, another moron set off a Tannerite explosion with a rifle and started another huge fire in SoCal. Makes me wonder what kind of stupid genes they've passed on.:duh:

Good Morning!!!! 84F @ 4:30AM. Mainly sunny. Areas of smoke and haze are possible, reducing visibility at times. High 109F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sounds like perfect weather to me, Billy. I'm jealous.

Thanks for the pointers, Eric. I'll try just connecting the probe, and leave the ground lead off. Still looking for the magic recipe to clear the memory buffer, set the sample frequency and duration, and get the results into a file. Back in the early '80s, I designed and built data acquisition systems and wrote the software that drove them, so this is well plowed ground for me. But the modern implementation leaves very much to be desired.

Sorry to read about Sassy's problem, Ron. A friend of mine used to care for his neighbor's dog when they were on vacation. They mistakenly told him that the dog got horrible gas from Alpo, so that's what my friend fed it for its last meal before they got home. Some friend, huh?

Early bird gets the worm, Ted. Seems like a lot of things are in short supply these days what with COVID-19. At least that's everyone's favorite excuse. Hopefully the compressor lesson only has to be taught once...

Sounds like a heck of a storm, Rick. Glad nothing was damaged.

The inversion therapy hasn't helped me much, so I'll give the 50 twists a whirl. Thanks for sharing, Jim!

Hope your resting the back therapy is working, David.

I lost the feeling in my lower legs for a long time after using cheap knee pads while laying tile several years ago, Dave. If I ever have to do that again, I'll use a kneeling pad instead.

Played musical motorcycles yesterday, draining the gas and pulling the battery on the most recent acquisition, then moving it off the front porch into the shipping container, and putting the lift back into the garage before parking the next most recent acquisition back on it. Just after I did that I realized I'd have to move it again to work on the Honda generator, but it's a pretty easy on/off. And with the weather the way it is, I'd just as soon have everything inside with the doors closed just in case there is a fire. Also got the covers back on the big generator, again just in case.

Speaking of which, there were a chain of fires last night on the main drag leading out of Chico to Paradise. More stupid people doing stupid things.

Tried a couple more things in an effort to tame the o'scope, without success. Then noticed Amazon offers tech support for it through a chat service, but that didn't get anywhere, either. So I'm down to calling the North American branch of the company tomorrow.

Got word that my buddy's offer on a place in Klamath Falls was accepted, so he's about to join the ranks of the perpetually broke homeowners. He can't wait to move out of California, and in many ways I can't blame him. And of course, I've been invited to help him move...

Hope everyone enjoys the extra Labor Day time off...

Good Morning! 72˚F heading to the mid 90s clear sky.
Ron that frog pic had character, I can see why it was popular. The sun flower has a lot of red in it, must be a special kind.
MEWB the front yard yesterday so I'll get the back today when the house shadow blocks out the sun.
I have 3 days of okra picking to store today either can or freeze them.
The ground was too muddy to continue the root trench yesterday and I was waiting for cooler weather but . . .
The predicted Cold front's prediction is getting warmer and warmer. It was supposed to get into the 50s now just 70˚F. that just a 2˚F drop from today, Whoopi, It fizzled . . .

Drew I thought in California the baby could pick their own gender and there was no need for a reveal party.

got the car washed before the sun came up in nice cool air of morning.
Sky was pretty too

Ron, I always overcook chicken on the grill. Will try to be careful and keep heat turned down, turn chicken often

Good morning.
High today is to be 64°F and rain. Been raining all night.

Yaa!! Free truck wash.

I went a tad overboard with the painkilling hash last night, I am still 'feeling no pain' this morning. I had a serious case of 'couch lock' happening. I ONLY do it when I am on the first 12 hours of my 36 hour reset or in the case of last night I am off all day today and most of tomorrow.

The new auto-shift trucks belong in the city, only, in my opinion. When I take my foot off the throttle, I expect the truck to slow down, nope it don't happen with an automatic. It is almost like you have the cruise control on when you don't. They are just a nightmare to drive, hauling liquid. Some of our guys like them, but not me and not the guy that is on this haul with me.

Have a safe Labour Day all

I need to change Sassy's food,. For a little dog she has some of the worst gas.

Sixty years ago, I was living in a house trailer (before they invented mobile homes) and had a little terrior that I started feeding Gravy Train dog food; one that you stir water into. She loved it, but the odor, even outside in a pen she used, was so bad that I changed dog foods and haven't used Gravy Train since.

Good morning to all! Temp went to the low 50s last night, great sleeping weather with the windows open. Today, the expected high should be around 95. Then dropping like a rock tomorrow night. Our Daytime high for Wednesday is forecast for 52! Denver is expecting 7" of snow Tuesday night! Crazy!

I woke up at 4 am..... really?.... rolled over and slept until Max stuck his nose under the blanket.... come on!, come on! I got up and put them out, then went back to bed.... slept 'til 7:30.... felt good !

Drinking the first cup of coffee, trying to get motivated to go move the oak boards and unload the pellets. I have not seen the boys stirring yet, so I probably have a little time on my side.....

Once that is done, Maybe some more organization...... there is a "garden tool area" in the other side of the garage / shop that is in dire need of organizing. Quite a bit of old weekwacker parts and misc saws, pole saws, loppers....

Tonight, I am going to follow Drew's grilling adventures and have some Angus burgers, corn on the cob, and Tater Tots.... yes Tater Tots on the grill! I have a small 7x9 1" deep baking tray they go in..... mmmm, mmmmm, they get a nice smokey flavor. Even the wifey likes them. Of course, she will make up her assortment of "grasses" (as she calls her 'salad').... Then top it all off with some fruit smoothies made with some fine Jamaican Rum!

Everyone have a great day!

On the Big Green Eggers old site there were some guys who were smoking bacon wrapped tater tots. Sounded great but quite a ways outside my dietary boundaries. My wife does fix them in the air fryer occasionally and I really like them but sure would like the bacon wrapped.

Well I did the deed this morning. My first home haircut. I ordered a Wahl color pro kit from Walmart for 25$. Spread out a sheet in the kitchen set a chair on it and went to it. I did it mostly by feel. A mirror would help. The instructions suggested starting with the longest comb attachment and practicing. in my kit that was a number 8 which is one inch. Not bad. I might get my wife to help next time and then we can really get fancy. The thing will pay for itself in 2 cuts. I feel so much better. Of course my wife says she likes my hair longer. I was starting to think if I got some orange dye I could get a job with the circus.

I already have my Walmart Wahl paid for with the 2 haircuts. I do the sides and top and my wife uses 3 different numbers on the back.

Oooooo.... that sounds delicious..... I wish I heard this sooner. I fried up a pound of bacon yesterday for breakfast, saving over half to put on the burgers tonight and broken up in the wifey's 'grasses'....
I hope I remember for next time....

Yep... me too! I have had it for about the last 6 years. Since I worked in EMS, I cut it "crew style" , but very short.... just the clipper head, no depth gauge.
I got very used to it being short, when it's about 1/4 to 3/8", I feel that it is "long"! Considering my hair in the 70's was shoulder length, I really like it buzzed now.

I haven't been to a barbershop in probably 20 years now....

Chris, glad you got your haircut. I'm just not coordinated to do everything "backwards"...

partially successful morning. Went to HF and picked up a powerwasher on sale for 79 bucks after reading all the positive reviews. Can't imagine
existing without one...and of course both of mine got sold. I had an AR (Italian water pump maker) power washer with almost the same specs for 60 dollars more and twice the cheap hose broke, so figured at this price point all the hoses are junk so might as well save money.
175 PSI 1.3 GPM Corded Electric Pressure Washer
Also got four moving blankets on sale and a couple of cheap tarps, all for the move.

Came home to email from realtor saying home I wanted to look at this week is under contract. Disappointing but no surprise; just not buying a house without seeing it first.
Another one will come up, realtor has me on "watch", and hopefully one with a garage.
And lesson of all this is to ask for 90 day termination on rental home.

Was up too early for a holiday. Installed a new 3ft man door on the church barn, the barn I installed 5 garage doors on a few years ago. We are going to put new vinyl siding on the front. The guy who bought the door didn’t notice a big scratch on one side. Oh well, it’s a barn.

Son has college classes today. We were going to grill burgers for lunch, now wife says later.
