good morning all
72 going up to high 80's today with a lot of rain in the forecast for next ten days.
Those thunderstorms are really holding down the temps.
Drew your weather sounds cooler than it had been Yes, I see daytime highs in the low 80's later this week and nighttime
temps hitting 69 next week. Cooler than normal for August here.

Several doctor "virtual" visits this morning, mainly phone calls, one with endocrinologist, routine, and one with cardiologist to get more info
on implantable heart monitor procedure. Otherwise not much planned. I have a number of boxes coming in from Amazon that to get to me have to be delivered to campground owner, and I need to think of a gift to give him in thanks. There's a really good butcher shop near my old farm with high quality local Angus, I may go pick up a few steaks for him. He brings the boxes around in his golf cart and while he says no problem I don't want to take that for granted.

woke up in middle of night and read my Kindle for awhile, having problems getting my sleep in normal time periods. Part of the challenge is going to bed too early, need to force myself to watch a movie instead of reading a book, which puts me right to sleep.

I haven't drunk any soda in many years, but it's amazing how much sugar is found in so many of our foods.
When they told me cancer cells love sugar, well that sure got my attention. Lot of worrisome info here:
18 Most Popular Sodas Ranked by How Toxic They Are
there are also links showing that chemicals used in fast food are really bad for us
My almost vegan sister has been harping at me for decades to be more careful, we are what we eat.

Very unhealthy life style locally with sweet tea being so popular, convenience foods, pizza and alcohol. Lots of salt, lots of saturated fat.
It's actually hard to avoid unless you cook all your food from scratch

RS, any damage from those derecho winds that came through?
have a nice day guys and do something fun today.

Good morning, as I look out the window not a single leaf is moving, humidity is showing as 92% and the day ahead is set to be another game of guessing when the next thunderstorm arrives. The sudden rise and fall of the leaves is a good indication, though yesterday they gave plenty of false alarms as angry clouds slipped by to the west, barely wetting the patio.

Did you ever play "battleships" as a kid, where you take it in turns to call out xy coordinates like "C3", then hear if a ship has taken a hit ? Watching the rainfall radar feels a bit like that at the moment, as if the multi coloured blobs are trying to find where we are to sink us.

PJ, so sad to hear of the man at your work being murdered.

Got any tire swings on the property, Eric?
If not, might be time to put one up...
That is so funny. Sheep have a real talent for getting stuck, a couple of weeks ago we had a ewe fast between the bars of a creep feeder. Had to hacksaw through the steel to get her out.

Thomas, was Mr Turkey in a Turkey Oak ?

Good morning. It's 75° / 100% humidity this morning and going to get to around 96° this afternoon. We've got no likely rain chances in the next week. It's getting dry here .. again.

I trimmed some low branches from a few trees yesterday morning and started cutting some cedars from under a post oak. Next .. I have to tackle all the yaupon there.

There is a nice tree under there.

I hope everyone in the path of the Midwest Derecho (straight) fared okay? RS?

My brothers were both in it's path as it passed thru Iowa and I'm still waiting to hear from them.

Not really 登n topic but......just an interesting point, imho.

Just finished a great book called Sapiens. In it the author makes the observation that..........

While we certainly domesticated plants and animals, in the end, they domesticated us.

Think of how we lived just 12,000 years ago, a blink of an eye really, if that. Nomadic, zero processions, no wealth, no poverty, no china virus, no BMWs, no A/C, no penicillin, no TRACTORS!

Then we figured out how to grow grain and everything changed.

Who domesticated who?

Drinking first cup of coffee. 70° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 83° with some sunshine in afternoon. Never got back at window trim yesterday. Too hot and humid. May try this morning. I did get cabinet set in place Have an appointment to renew my Enhanced Drivers License today. Do not want to miss it. I made appointment 2 months ago. Current license expired in June.
This little guy was not happy I took picture using camera flash. Jumped off BBQ grill when it flashed.

Drew, watching TV put me to sleep like a book does you. Maybe take a short walk when you feel sleepy.

Randy, Southerner. Anyone living below Michigan Southern Border. We have a lot of people on GM that are southerners using that definition. A good thing. :cool2:

RS, I have used customer pickup a couple of time with Menards. Sometimes it works. But more failures than good results. To many new people at local store.

Mostly, will try to remember pictures of windows.

Thomas, turkey in woods. My neighbor claims turkey with 1 chick that I took picture of couple of weeks ago. Is one of his Guinea Hen chicks. He is not having luck getting close enough for good view.

Don, not sure a Trial with Jury using Moon would be most fair way to settle a case.

Everyone be safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

72 going to 92.

PJ, hope you and your office can be of comfort to that poor lady. I bet is a bit hard on you, too.

Well, about 5 minutes before I was to declare the grass officially dry enough to mow, a pop-up drenched everything for 5 minutes, and laughed as it blew by. Gave me an excuse to watch a cowboy movie...Nevada Smith...I'm pretty sure it was north of I-10, so must have been yankee cowboys :). At least I got a 5 mile hike in before the rain.

Kyle, Ultimate sounds good...sore today?

Perseids peak tonight.

Great pic Ron

Re our 15 years. Might be a challenge for some to understand, but this is longest Sophie or I have ever lived same place, including growing up. Her Dad career army, my Dad construction, we both had fairly mobile growing up years. Then my army career involved multiple moves as well. But I always say no need to pack for my next one.

Sure does sound like you're talking about me. My wife & I have been living in this same house 15 years now; the longest I've ever lived in one place. In 12 years of school, I changed schools 11 times, went to 3 schools twice (moved away, moved back). College wasn't quite as bad. Used to work rotating shifts, so finding classes that fit my work schedule was a bit difficult, so I got college credits from at least 7 colleges before getting my bachelor's degree.
