Good morning to all! Low somewhere in the low 50s, did not check. High going for 89. No rain chances.

Now that the hobby shack painting is done, time for the floor. Going to put in laminate flooring, the cheap stuff from HD. We used some of the cheapest laminate floors in the old house hobby room. Our two sons attempted to destroy that floor using any means ..... it still looks great and withstood all the punishment. With that in mind, we figured it would do ok in our little shack. I hope to have the floor done today.

Drew, glad to hear everything is going well and that you have a lot of help! Soon you will be able to look back at all of this, just another of life’s hurdles... Prayers are sent your way!

Ron, thanks for another great picture!

David, glad that Sophie ‘ s surgery went well, sorry you had to have an extended stay in the commercial side of paradise! Prayers for her continued healing

Wng, yes the sunsets out at Chaco canyon are phenomenal. Georgia O’keefe did many of her painting there.

Time to get moving.... everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 6:45AM. Plenty of sunshine. High 99F. Winds light and variable.
The 10-day shows temps over 100F for the next 7 days, peaking Friday at 110F.

Sorry the travel plans got scrambled, David, but Sophie is what matters and it's good your attention is focused on her. Doctors can be jerks just like anyone else, perhaps Karma will help even things up.

So much confusion about CV19 out there, Kyle. I read where the WHO is now saying that those who are asymptomatic are not contagious until they are visibly ill. If true, that eliminates one of the most scary aspects of this disease, but the advise coming from WHO has been unreliable. CV19 numbers are spiking state wide, and yesterday the governor here required mask wearing by everyone in any public place unless they can maintain social distancing. And WHO has already said masks don't do any good.:confused3::confused2:

It's pretty plain that you're back to your old self mentally, Drew, and not just from your verbosity. I'm thankful for the insights you're sharing as you negotiate the way back to normalcy. You are our path finder through the Byzantine healthcare system, a very much there-but-for-the-grace-of-God situation for most of us. And yes, you are blessed, but Karma works that way, too. Overcoming the incontinence is a huge milestone as well; hopefully you weren't stockpiling Depends. The buyer of my first home seemed to delight in getting me to jump through hoops. I gave that place a very thorough remodel in the ten years I lived there, and somehow all the records, receipts, and instruction books I'd accumulated got lost when I moved out.

I share your frustration with TSC's inventory control, Rick. It's not just your local store, when I touched base with their call center about problems with my local store, I got the same "it's all due to shoplifters" BS. No, it's about your employees not keeping tabs on the inventory. FWIW, I was able to source a pair of those 1/2 NPT to 3/8 NPT reducers at my local TSC, but I had to go to the local New Holland dealer to get CAT2 top link and draw pins.

I'll PM you about those quick couplers, RS. And BTW, yer makin' the rest of us look bad, again!:laughing::laughing:

That looks like a very happy robin, Ron. I might find myself under the back porch shower this afternoon, and would be pleased to look that happy!

I can just picture you on that nice front porch enjoying the sunset, Ted. A nice reward for all your hard work!

Hope your bicycle deal works out guys, "only 53 miles" would be a very long way for me these days, Bruce!

Not much done yesterday, but I did help the neighbor get his generator onto the new pad. Trencher man said he'd be there, but never showed up, so I might be down there later today to do it for him.

Reviewed the videos I made during the power system walk through, and wrote up procedures for the things I'll be doing most frequently, like bypassing the system or just running off the generator. I have a notebook all set up for them that I'll keep on a chain at the control panel, but had to order sheet protectors, so that's on hold until Monday.

Also ordered another UPS for the home entertainment electronics to even out the voltage dips when running off battery bank power when the A/C starts. But they're bad enough that it also triggers the lockout on the propane stove, so I'm worried it's hard on the rest of the electrical items in the house as well. Probably should get out the fancy DVM I picked up earlier and record some of the voltage wave forms while the A/C is running to see what's really going on.

Here's to the fathers out there, and I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Best laid plans of mice and men...

Wifey wanted to go out this morning before it got hot...so, that's what we did.
It's 80some now, so the outdoors work will be postponed...
Oh well...

Drew, I know it's a different situation, but when we tried to sell the house and land (land belongs to FIL), we had 4 different parties that we went through the ordeal of selling, and we told them our "BOTTOM DOLLAR PRICE". Every single one of them came back and wanted us to lower price, or pay all fees. My FIL would get mad, and tell them, "Go away, we won't sell it to you now, even if you paid us more." We didn't need the money. I just entertained the thought of moving closer to work.

Well, God did not want us to move, and I know why now.

BTW, the song my daughter is playing today is, "Good Good Father".

Since my local TSC store is a 30+ mile round trip, and I have little confidence in what their web site shows "in stock", and because I have two grapples, I decided to just order the parts I want from Discount Hydraulic Hose. Even paying $10 in shipping I'm still money ahead of taking a chance with TSC .. not to mention fuel / time to over there and get disappointed .. one more time.

I'm thinking TSC is not very interested in farmers / ranchers in their current business model, as they used to be.

I think TSC is more interested in selling dog food, bird seed and clothing now; the lack of technical knowledge is troubling. My local store used to have someone standing at the customer service desk back in middle of hardware area. Now the desk is gone, and the staff mills around up front, just clerks ready to check out your purchase, which
they unlikely have any idea of how it functions. Seems corporate has lost its way.

TSC's problem may be they are outsourcing "cleaning up" to their vendors. I know the nuts and bolts area is, they take any loose stuff, chuck it all in an empty bin, and let the vendor sort it out. I remember when I had my electronics store, and every part was lined up, sku's checked for accuracy, etc. Difference between owner's attitude and low paid employee. I thought TSC was a lot better run five years ago. You really can't trust that the size you get is what's on the bin label, I always try to take original in to compare.

delighted my little HP laser printer worked this morning. Not on wireless but when I plugged the printer cable in, got its brain. Wanted to print out blood labs to take with me on Tuesday, shows low hemaglobin count, pretty sure I need a transfusion. The first thing they do is draw more blood, and recheck it but having something printed out in my hand to refer to is good way to start discussion. Pretty sure this is all normal. Am lucky to have old friend who is retired doc in PA, can send him stuff to get his feedback. For years after I retired I still got calls from clients, he doesn't seem to mind either though we both know we are getting increasingly rusty. His son is leading oncologist in nearest large town so he stays on top of things, plus he had a lymphoma too and survived it. Trust but verify...

Drew,I bet you are on blood thinners after your stroke and that could very easily lead to the low hemoglobin and need for transfusions. I was on thinners after 2 stent procedures and became anemic requiring 10 transfusions over all plus many, many iron infusions and procrit injections. Once I got to the point I could stop the thinners I straightened out. I still take aspirin but it doesn't bother me.

Hopefully you will be able to stop the high powered thinner and get better.

Best wishes
Jim

I read where the WHO is now saying that those who are asymptomatic are not contagious until they are visibly ill.

I believe the person who said that misspoke and had to walk it back.
About masks, did you see the reports from the beauty salon in Missouri? Seems like the masks worked.
I heard a commentator say the virus was winning.
I'm still isolating and I don't think I've gotten it yet. Sure thankful I'm retired.
