My new Covid prediction.

As the majority of the masses get it, and most get over it (herd immunity), many will get a laissez faire or been there done that, don't care attitude. They will not care about further spread and taking precautions. Thus, making it harder for those that have not had it, avoid it....until a vaccine or antibody cure.

This won't be good for seniors whom have been taking precautions.

There was mention of a study about why some die or have a very bad encounter with it. It said there was a Chinese (IIRC) study coming up with data showing that those with O blood types were less likely to have extreme symptoms. It was the other blood types that get the worst cases of it.

What a day!!!!!

Sophie didn’t get released until 5PM, about 5 minutes after I changed our flight reservations to tomorrow. Would have had to turn in return car and clear TSA etc in an hour, didn’t want to chance it. The new state requirements take as long as TSA as that’s if you arrive with paperwork filled out.

Initial report is surgery went fine, just delays. We were actually at hospital over 8 1/2 hours. Cold too with all the A/C. Recovery nurse let me know Soph was out of surgery while I was on phone with airline. 5 minutes earlier and might have attempted.

Flight changed, we were now basically homeless as we didn’t have any Honolulu reservations. Went back to last night’s hotel, same lady on desk as when I checked in and got a room. Rental car still within 2 day window so don’t expect a change. Of course, dinner out. So hospital delays and Dr lollygagging around will cost us extra 3-400 hundred $. Apparently he was responsible for the last 15 minute delay. Thank God, she’s more than worth it. But come Fri my tongue will either have severe bite marks or the Dr will get an earful.

Cottage tenants’ are doubling as dog sitters and more than encouraging for us to extend. I’m sure Kalani, Kekoa, and Simba are not only enjoying the extra attention but extra treats as well. Diane only gets them the good stuff from the healthfood stores.

Otherwise, a nice quiet night ahead with the love of my life - BLESSED.

Good morning all.
Buppies you are up very early, couldn't sleep?

Sounds like a really long day David, glad your wife did ok.
I have found that doctors rarely consider other folks time schedules, the only one that matters is theirs.
A few simple "sorry to hold you ups" would go a long way.

drinking my coffee, bit of a headache, otherwise doing fine.
Need to do laundry today, they say they provide weekly laundry service but I see where the laundry room is, rather do it myself.
Meeting a few more of the residents, mostly ancients, one said "oh you are the guy we see walking all the time". Yes ma'am.
I really am an outlier here, but that was caused because I sold my farm and had nothing to go home to. These folks are here probably for more
serious reasons.

worked on new net worth and cash flow spreadsheets yesterday, trying to figure out where I stood after farm sold. All my original financial planning on another computer now long since packed up. I had a lot of training on this so easy for me to do, having my CPA brother check my figures. Lot of little checks outstanding for implement purchases which haven't made their way to me, have to wait until dust settles. My fireman neighbor bought about 6 grand worth of my good implements, scrapers, rakes, almost new Bush hog cutter. He and his wife have been so incredibly helpful in this process, leading the effort to get locals to come in and buy things, like my big Massey, that am considering simply waiving the debt entirely. I would have paid someone else to accomplish the same thing, and likely not gotten half the attention or caring. They have really stepped up and my family has repeatedly thanked them. Also has taken big load off my brothers, one of whom got sick and could not come and help, leaving everything to my eldest brother. I know he was happy not being the person to clean out all the storage areas in the barn.

Because the farm buyer beat me down on price for unreasonable things, I told neighbor to cherry pick all the optionals, extra grease, motor oil, tractor upper links, pins, and lots of hand tools. He will come out of this with a lot of good supplies, and he has earned it. Thankfully all my stuff fits his new JD 5 series, so sometimes it all just works out. Neighbor's wife has led effort to clean out pantry, drawers, arrange deliveries to local charities, most of house furnishings now cleaned out or spoken for. Cleaning ladies arranged to come in and leave home spotless, broom clean requirement irrelevant to me, I know how I want my home left, the way it has always been maintained. Buyer had home inspector go find lots of invented stuff "clean up mold from prior event", as in prior owner to me? Fix top of gazebo which was perfectly fine,we just painted it.
He knew he had me over a barrel being in the hospital. So I ate 10 grand off the price. The man was penny wise and pound foolish. And this was after I made a point of leaving farm "fully working", as in small Massey tractor, diesel JD garden tractor, Echo weed eaters, full diesel tank, etc etc etc. I'm a generous guy and this time it was not appreciated at all. But I'm not going to change for the buyer. Maybe someday he will appreciate it more. Like when he is eating my pears and apples...

I've been really lucky in this process, not with health but with help. Good family and good friends. Just drives me nuts sitting here like a covid prisoner unable to help.
I could too, am physically up to it. I read all these wonderful projects you guys get involved in, gardening, landscaping, fixing things, reminds me of how little I am doing right now. Ultimately, no whining.

Have a funny little story about when I first got to hospital here. Local hospital knew I needed to go to bigger hospital, the teaching hospital in Greenville where I went, so older brother came down next day to drive me over. Big confusing parking lot with tons of signs, hard to figure out where to go. We were walking towards the building and I got separated from brother, I think around a big dumpster. I hear SIR SIR being yelled at me and a security guard was running up to me. This was surprising. He then asked me fairly politely "do you know you are peeing in our bushes". Oh no....clearly I was really, really out of it, and remained that way for several weeks due to stroke.
But then thank all the prayers I got, because the stroke damage all cleared up except for incontinence, and that cleared up a week ago. To have strokes with no long lasting damage, very lucky. Everyone says " you sound like your old self again", meaning overly wordy I'm sure...;) Sure is nice to be back and have a future to look forward to.
We take so much for granted.

Chunk of meat loaf in fridge talking to me, think that may be my lunch instead of sandwich they provide. Then maybe some squash casserole for dinner. Another Garden Club lady got in touch, hope to get something once a week to supplement the food here.

Have an enjoyable Sunday guys, prayers for Jay he is doing ok.

63 and overcast right now...high in the upper 80's today. Had a quick thunderstorm pass yesterday evening...just enough rain to wet the lawn and deck, not enough to do any good.
Finish up some weed trimming and that chipping...that'll be about it, I think...

Drew,
To have strokes with no long lasting damage, very lucky.
You are very lucky! After 20 plus years, I'm still suffering some effects of a stroke. Granted, I'm a lot better off then some stroke victims though

Good morning. It a very humid (100%) 73° here with a slight NNE breeze. Our high is forecast to get to 90° with scattered showers off and on all day. Tasks today will be determined by the weather.

I got hoses, fittings, and QD's all replaced on the 96" grapple yesterday so .. need to tackle the tractor side today. I'd forgotten that the flat faced QD's on the tractor are 1/2" so .. hoping I've got right fittings, in my parts assortment, to change to 3/8" to match the new ISO 7241-B QD's. Nothing .. but Tractor Supply open on Sunday, and our local TSC has recently become "notoriously" unreliable on inventory in their bins. Empty bins, stuff in wrong bins, etc. I had to stop there three times just to get a set of CAT 2 to CAT 1 upper / lower link bushings .. so hydraulic parts may be a challenge. I want to make sure I have everything I need .. before opening up the connections and losing hydraulic oil. If I don't .. I'll just let it wait until Monday and go after some stumps with the stump bucket after breakfast.

Drew .. glad to hear that you're getting back to your old self. In my experience .. greedy, unreasonable, real estate buyers are usually being coached by greedy, unreasonable, real estate agents and inspectors trying to "earn" their fees. Just call it a learning experience, put it in the past, and move forward .. to whatever is next for you.

Happy Father's Day .. to all the other Dad's!

And .. happy beginning of Summer.

Hope everyone has a restful Sunday.

Prayers to all.

TSC's problem may be they are outsourcing "cleaning up" to their vendors. I know the nuts and bolts area is, they take any loose stuff, chuck it all in an empty bin, and let the vendor sort it out. I remember when I had my electronics store, and every part was lined up, sku's checked for accuracy, etc. Difference between owner's attitude and low paid employee. I thought TSC was a lot better run five years ago. You really can't trust that the size you get is what's on the bin label, I always try to take original in to compare.

delighted my little HP laser printer worked this morning. Not on wireless but when I plugged the printer cable in, got its brain. Wanted to print out blood labs to take with me on Tuesday, shows low hemaglobin count, pretty sure I need a transfusion. The first thing they do is draw more blood, and recheck it but having something printed out in my hand to refer to is good way to start discussion. Pretty sure this is all normal. Am lucky to have old friend who is retired doc in PA, can send him stuff to get his feedback. For years after I retired I still got calls from clients, he doesn't seem to mind either though we both know we are getting increasingly rusty. His son is leading oncologist in nearest large town so he stays on top of things, plus he had a lymphoma too and survived it. Trust but verify...

Drinking first cup of coffee. 62° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 84° with 100% of thunderstorms. Last time we got that kind of forecast we got 0%. Sure could use some rain. Got my small projects done yesterday. Going to sons place to celebrate Fathers Day today. No other plans.

David, good to hear Sophie did good with her surgery. Hope return trip today goes good.

Kyle, when I went to school almost everyone had a tag that stated what their blood type was. I do not remember what mine is. Non of my blood test show what type I have. I wear a mask when out in the public and gloves. Trying to be safe as I can be.

Drew, good write up of how things are going. Keeps me thinking what will happen if I have an event like you have had. I have half written documents that need to be completed. But where is everything? I am working on that document. Hard enough to do when you can get out of house. But when you are locked in a home much harder. Prayers and best wishes.

Jay, sure hope you are OK and just having good seat time out on your tractor.

Roy, hope you get as much done today as you did yesterday.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.
