Good morning. It is beautiful out. Sitting by the pool watching wind waves over grasses in front. I will take the day as it comes.

Good afternoon. Light rain falling and the wind has dropped, yesterday it was blowing at 40-50 mph. Earlier this week I had filled two wheelbarrows with sifted sharp sand and left them under cover to start mixing mortar. Weather took it's revenge for being tricked into raining by blowing the sand out and piling it up as mini sand dunes by the back door. Max was delighted at only having to take two steps outside this morning before he could cock his leg on something new.

Kyle, with hindsight it seems incredible that while President Roosevelt could see what was coming and wanted to do everything possible to assist, others like the American aviator Charles Lindbergh were naive enough to think ****** was not after world domination and were initially highly successful in preventing any aid coming to Britain. Even so, 11 of the pilots in the Battle of Britain were American citizens who came over to help ( despite the pressure put on by the "America First" movement, though that did collapse as soon as Pearl Harbour was attacked). I wouldn't have been born if it wasn't for pilots like them and the many that came to fight in Europe after, like Randy's dad.

I scratch my head wondering why folks are talking about defunding police. We need better trained police, better supervised, defunding could only make matters worse. /where do folks come up with this stuff and who in their right mind would throw anything at a policeman? Makes me feel old and out of touch

Most of us our age are "family values" folks, thought this was what our society was built on and what makes it all work. The kind of values Toppop's Dad took with him on that awful trip up the beach.

Sorry about filter , that reminds me I never got mine changed yet.
Dad changed oil on L5030 yesterday said he drained it, changed filter, lifted 2 gal container to fill and he said he didn’t feel good, went and sat on lawnmower seat awhile. Then one of his buddies came and finished, then buddy started bush hog hay field. Got tractor stuck in wet spot. Went to neighbor who brought tractor to pull him out. Neighbor had 12 ft bush hog on tractor and helped mow the field.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5:30A. Plenty of sunshine. High 74F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
Finally, some relief from the 100F temperatures of last week. Yesterday's high was only 73, and we've more of the same today. We also picked up 0.07" of rain, not much, but enough to get the humidity up and let me get some grass clippings raked away from the house this morning. That should keep me busy for a while, then not sure what I'll get into.
Here we go again, Billy. Got in another nap yesterday afternoon, but was awakened by a clap of thunder. Ran up the hill to get the mail, dodging fat rain drops all the way, then scrambled to get the truck backed up close enough to the garage so the rear end was protected by the eves. The load of plywood in the back sits on a pair of 12' 4x4s that are all being returned to HD, and I didn't want them to get wet. Lightning was fairly close for a bit, but the heart of the storm passed to the northwest. And in an hour, the sun was back out. Here's a short video, with a water view for Drew.
Hope you get your haircut soon, Drew, and a shampoo even sooner. Never been in a Whole Foods, either, none in town, and I don't even buy organic vegetables at the regular grocery. Why bother when I spend so much time spraying glyphosate?
We're up to 61 confirmed CoVid-19 cases county wide, still at one death. They're only reporting viral test results, as the antibody tests are too unreliable still. Testing rates are still increasing as well, into the hundreds of tests per day. Part of that is driven by tracing down who the victims have been with, and quarantining them to stop the spread.
Sometimes you have to study a project, Mike, until it tells you how it needs to be done. That can take a long time. Hope your daughter's quarantine is uneventful.
Glad no one was hurt during your trouble in paradise, David, and the cure is as simple as an oil filter. Last time something like that happened to me, it was $600 to replace a broken axle. :shocked:
Looks like good progress on the cylinder rebuild, RS. I have a pick made of bronze I use on o-rings and seals so as to avoid scratching the o-ring groove surface. Doesn't always work, though, and sometimes have to go in with an Xacto knife and very carefully cut the o-ring until it's thin enough to break with the hook.

Spent most of yesterday in and out of the attic, crawling in fiberglass insulation, running a new satellite TV lead to the other side of the bedroom. Seemed like every step had a twist in it, and I lost count of the tries it took to catch the end of the fish tape and get the wire pulled up into the attic. Then after getting it hooked up, there was no signal. Tech support at Dish was good, got the remote Joey relinked to the base Hopper, but not before swapping where the cable was connected in the attic. Someone had nailed a piece of plywood up there and written on it where all the wires went, but someone else had cut all but two of the wires. Of course, I picked the wrong one to connect my new wire to. That poor tech on the other end of the phone must have thought he was dealing with an idiot. I sure felt like one. But at least now all the wrong labels on that plywood are crossed out, and the one good wire as the proper label on it. Even patched the extra hole I accidentally drilled in the bathroom ceiling.:duh: Now the one eyed monster sits in a new corner, where it'll seldom get watched. Just can't bring myself to get rid of a perfectly good plasma display, or the old school speaker cabinets I'm using for a TV stand. Never throw anything away, right?:confused2:

You haven't missed anything, in my opinion. I went in and looked around once, and just couldn't believe that people paid those kind of prices for the same stuff you get at Walmart for a lot less. Later, the Dallas news paper ran an article about what a waste of money it was. And still later, the company was sold and the new owner claimed he was going to lower all the prices. So I visited it once again, and if the prices had been lowered, I sure couldn't tell it. I'm just surprised that it's stayed in business, but it's located in a well to do area, and from the looks of the parking lot when I drive by, I guess they're doing OK. Now the disclaimer . . . . I've only been in the ONE store, so maybe it's different elsewhere.

I'm right there with you, Drew. Yesterday, the mayor of Los Angeles pulled back $150M (that's million with an M) and gave it to poor neighborhoods. The same neighborhoods that most need the police protection.:shocked: Most of the virtue signalling going on these days is very irritating but relatively harmless, but stupid moves like this will get more people killed. Then I watched a clip showing our governor genuflecting that the riots were all our fault, the government's fault, the police's fault, the people's fault, because of so called "white privilege" and racial bias. I almost threw up. We have a new sign next to the main highway coming into Chico, touting "Tents, Drugs, & Garbage, coming to a park near you, next 7 exits". Instead of policing the parks and arresting vagrants, they give them kits to shoot up, free tents, and pay for crews to clear away tons of garbage when they move on. These are all symptoms of fundamental failure of leadership in government that are pushing this nation down the road to third world status. And millions of youngsters instead call it progress.:confused2:

.Waiting for first cup of coffee to cool. 49° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 77° with sunny skies this morning. Changed mower deck belt yesterday. Then cut lawn. Gave dogs a bath. They sure need some grooming. I did some trimming. But their hair is longer than it is normally in winter. Some Garden Pond maintenance this morning. Then head up to sons place for a visit. Have not seen grand kids since February.
Peony flower/plant that we moved from our east side house 48 years ago.
Drew, nothing like clean hair to make you feel better. I was in need of a hair cut when they closed everything down in March. I did trim all that was falling into my eyes last week. Have a Whole Foods 13 miles from me. But no direct route to it. Takes about 45 minutes to get there on roads with lots of traffic. Anytime you want to talk call me. Sent you my phone number.

Buckeye, your wife will be happy she will not be looking at tape lines anymore. I hired a guy to do ceilings repairs and painting. So happy that I did. Cannot see where repairs were done.
