Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 6:45AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 74F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day forecast, and now PG&E is hinting at another power outage for Wednesday and Thursday due to strong offshore winds and low humidity. Meanwhile, both state and federal legislators are calling for investigations on how the outages have been conducted. Meanwhile, the little Honda generator sits in the garage, fueled and ready to go...

Started what was supposed to be a minor OS update late last night on my main laptop, and it was still running 12 hours later. Long story short, I had to reformat the hard drive, and I'm having trouble accessing the latest of Apple's TimeMachine backups. I might be stuck with a clone made last August.:censored:

Used one of the endoscopes to verify that the connector to the rear differential locker sensor on the van was installed correctly, and verified that the locker was working by doing a 4WD brodie in the gravel.:D During that, the indicator on the console came on, so I guess the locker needs a bit of rolling room before it engages. There's another trim panel supposed to be beneath the console, but when I tried to install it there were no mounting points. I think they got taken out by the aftermarket A/C that was installed, and the ex-mechanic made no provisions for a replacement. So I turned my attention to installing the glove box, and quickly learned that one of his numbskull helpers had routed the heater hoses through where the glove box needs to sit.:muttering: I thought I could get away with moving things around, but there's not enough length in the hose, so I think I'll make a quick trip to town this morning for some hose.

One step forward, two steps back...

That three point buck is still hanging around, and it's dumb as a post. I drove almost right up on it in the side-by-side yesterday on the way to get the mail, and got one look over its shoulder as it slowly ambled off into the woods. Yeah, should'a bought a tag this year, huh?

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

That is a nice gun. Have me wanting one. I知 under prepared in that area.

Saw on FB that Rural King was being pressured to curb back gun sales, and they responded they would support the legal sale of guns and support the 2A.

Go for the Taurus 856. A bit heavy for pocket carry (22 oz. unloaded) but it'll easily conceal with an OWB or IWB holster. However, for me, this will reside in a desk.
If you want a really light gun for pocket carry, look at a Taurus 85 Ultra-lite.. The one with an aluminum frame and titanium cylinder /barrel shroud is the lightest of the 85 series. Great pocket revolver!

Kudos to Rural King for their stance on 2nd Amendment support!!!

I've told this story before awhile back but this talk of self defense weapons reminds me of my business neighbor long ago.
My insurance agency was at 7 N. Main Street, up from the only light in town and across from the town's only bank and their large parking lot.
Next to us, at 9 N. Main was a jewelry store owned by a man who was a bit scary. Carried at least two guns on his body, one in shoulder holster, and two guns under the counter. One looked like an assault battle rifle. This was in the 70's and not sure any laws in by then. And the last gun was a double barrelled 12 gauge shotgun.
My partner was a lifelong hunter but being next to the jeweler even gave him concern, as we didn't have a firewall between office space and jeweler. We knew the walls would not hold based on his guns in there, and this guy always seemed mad at the world, and I bet looked forward to the day he could send some foolish robber shooting backwards with that shotgun. At issue were the folks in the bank parking lot across the street too. We were glad to move the office out the other road into town, West Bridge Street, which then was one block from the firehouse. I believe the gentleman passed away from a bad heart, likely too much stress.
Maybe he had stress at home, after all his wife met me at the door with a see through negligee on, and nothing else, as I'm trying to measure the home for homeowners insurance. All I could think of was how many guns this guy had... but clearly he had issues I was glad weren't mine.
Just your normal small town stuff.

A mostly sunny 10ºF for today’s low temperature; 27ºF presently and still mostly sunny; and I anticipate increasing clouds and a high temperature ~32ºF later today. I need to bring more wood inside due the anticipated rain to freezing rain tonight/tomorrow AM and a repeat performance Monday night/Tuesday AM. The wind yesterday made splitting wood colder than normal; less wind today so I can finish the kindling making. A little excitement during the AM dog walk as a really nice looking doe happened to be in the lower field. Fortunately there was no “Nantucket Sleigh Ride” experience.

Yesterday we went to a community “Broadband Information Presentation” by the ISP. We’ve been waiting for the long promised and never delivered western MA “highspeed internet” for about the last 10 years; we’re still waiting; some local residents still have “dialup” service. Maybe by next Fall I/We will finally get hooked in. What was interesting is that we were told that Verizon will no longer be adding any more “copper” around here and that Verizon wants out of the hardline business completely.

Roy- I like your arsenal. I really like this old B&W SiFi movies. Those two you saw are classics. I am happy to read that you enjoyed your Scotch.

Don- I really like the Ford Ranger and I am waiting to see the 2020 Bronco as well.

Randy- It’s great to read that your and Ellen’s hookup with Drew was a good time was had by all experience. Poor Gracie. Brogen has recently started trying to become a lap dog.

Kyle- My wood stove feels really nice this AM. Neither the baseboards nor the air heat exchangers feel as warm as that stove.

David- Congratulations on the the Ridgeline and removal of a Tundra taking up driveway space. I/We are holding off on the new truck at this point. With Winter weather on its way I’d rather wreck my wreck than a new truck.

Buppies- I am sorry to read about the trailer tires, but thankfully no one was injured.

PILOON- It’s getting harder and harder to find guys like that who believe that customer service & satisfaction are important. I am happy you had a + experience and rewarded that delivery guy as deserved.

RonJH- A nice early Winter picture. I am happy to read that your duct work is paying off.

BEF- I am happy that your flareup was contained and your chicken only slightly blackened and tasted ok. (BTDT more than once). I was showing off our BGE's high heat for steaks to my former BIL and managed to set my hoodie on fire with the flareup. That freaked him out more than I. I hope that your Wife and Son start feeling better soon and do not pass whatever is bothering them to you. I also hope that you fully recover soon.

Some people should not be in the possession of firearms.

I hope that everyone has a decent Sunday.

My + thoughts and prayers.

I really think the 1950's was the best decade for SF films...so many classics. Some were pretty goofy ("Plan 9 From Outer Space" comes to mind) but most were fun to watch..at least once. Of course, I grew up in the 50's, so maybe these old flicks are nostalgia for me...

Scotch was good yesterday, but it's gonna be a beer and movies day today!

Drew. Towing was a consideration. Not something I do very often, so rather far down the priority list, not high enough to be a deal breaker.

I’ve only used cruise control on the Pilot 1 time, when traversing the MK protest area. The cops are out their writing tickets instead of being productive. Don’t think I ever used it on the Tundra.

30.9 - impressive
