Roy, coincidence that you should be talking of leaving a couple of guns on consignment as yesterday I received a cheque in the post for my Browning 12 gauge semi auto which I've sold the same way. It wasn't getting used, I find the little Rizzini 28 gauge over and under is more fun and with a box of hot shells on the shelf for "special occasions", it should be up to the task if another bad dog comes this way.

37 going to 45...still windy, and now cloudy.

Rick, that's a great thing you guys do for the young hunters. As an adult, that is more rewarding than actually doing the hunting yourself.

Kyle, your pic warmed me up for a moment. I'm a little late this morning cleaning out the ash box on my woodstove and then throwing a couple of logs on the coals.

David, congrats on your new truck. Sorry you had problems with the Toyota and their dealer. I bought a truck over the phone kind of like you...I had moved from Virginia Beach, but liked the dealer there, saw a truck on their lot while visiting relatives on a Sunday (dealers closed on Sundays back then). Called on Monday, got a better deal than local, and they brought me the truck and papers to sign. Salesman's girlfriend followed him here, and then they went on to DC that night for his day off (I probably paid for that with the commission). That was before the internet - 1989.

Randy, I guess you're hoping for lots of snow this winter so you can use that new Massey :).

Roy, sweet pistol.

Didn't get anything like as much done as I hoped yesterday either, but that often seems to be the way it goes. Only progress on the tank cover was these support brackets, drying on the range after washing off cutting oil.

I need to come up with a better way of drilling holes bigger than 1/2 inch. It would be nice to keep my existing pillar drill for wood working and maybe one day get a vertical milling machine that could take over as a drill, but a shorter term plan may be to get a much lower cost annular cutter magnetic base drill and then make a drill stand for it. That way I would still have something portable for things that don't fit easily into the workshop. Anyone have any thoughts on mag drills ?

rlgustafson; We had our welcome dinner for out first TPWD Youth Hunt last evening. Three of us cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for our young hunters and their parents. We have 18 hunters and about a third are girls. [emoji106 said:
They're all late middle school to early high school age. None have ever harvested a deer and a few have never hunted before. The TPWD reps gave hunting safety presentations and rules of "the hunt" were discussed. This is a "doe" only hunt as we're trying to get our local deer population back to a better balance. Today ... we'll be smoking several briskets for the dinner this evening. .

Sounds like good event and great time.

6 degrees right now...high in the mid-30's

Picked up a bottle of Glenfiddich Scotch Whiskey yesterday. I had bought four sippin' glasses from Lucky Shot
And watched a couple 1950's science fiction flicks (THEM, It Came From Outer Space) while sipping the Scotch.
Glenfiddich is good, but I like a smokier taste.
Since I have 2 or 3 more 50's SF flicks, today might be a repeat of yesterday...probably stick with beer today

I've only sold one gun (an SKS rifle) in a private sale. I normally don't sell a gun at all. Although I rarely shoot it, I still have the Glock 17L I bought in 1987.
I do prefer consignments sales...

Pleasant surprise yesterday.
I purchased a 10,000 watt generator as I had blown my older 6.5 due to my stupidity.

Delivery was via a pickup and he had a sheet of 3/4 plywood to slide it out.
That worked just fine.

He asked where I'd like it and I jokingly said 'in the wood shed' and he promptly pushed it down the slope (on the snow) tore off the cardboard packing, opened the shed door and placed it exactly where I'd want it.

WOW, service!
When I tipped him a $20 he asked was I sure.
I sure was!

I later went back to the store and commended him to his boss.

Glad no one hurt on the blow outs. I would hate to have a trailer flat while towing. Someone Had one up the road last week, trailer full of round bales with a blown tire.

Prayers for the young one with cancer. I’ve had 2 young coworkers die from cancer in my career. One never knows what life throws at you.

Drinking last cup of coffee. 14° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 38° with lots of sun. Trip to Port Huron went well. Low traffic volume in both directions. Everyone must have getting ready or watching the U of M vs MSU game. At least a Michigan team won. :D Took my aunt home. Sure was nice having someone other than a dog to talk to. Hope to get whole house generator oil changed today. Then NASCAR in afternoon.
A little report on furnace air duct sealing I had done last April. The 2 rooms that were always cold now are with 1° of rest of the house. Comparing NG usage with similar temperatures from last year. Shows a better than 15% less usage. While the sealing was for comfort in the 2 rooms. I am happy with the NG savings. Because of caring my wife over the summer I did not get a chance to evaluate if there was any savings while using AC.

New tractor, truck and gun. GM is moving along. I need to get busy and something done.

Buppies, special prayers and best wishes for your employee.

RNG, It will not be long and the van will be your everyday driver.

Prayers and best wishes for all.

That is a nice gun. Have me wanting one. I’m under prepared in that area.

Saw on FB that Rural King was being pressured to curb back gun sales, and they responded they would support the legal sale of guns and support the 2A.

Was grilling chicken last night and the grease pan caught on fire. Pushed grill further out on the deck away from house, ran in got a little water in a pan and tossed it on, which put out most of the flames. Got some more and doused the rest. People say don’t use water on a grease fire, but it’s always worked for me on the grill. Guess I better clean the pan.
The chicken was ok, just slightly burnt in spots.

Wife not feeling well this morning with bad headache, then my son said he wasn’t feeling well (stomach). So won’t make morning worship. I haven’t tried driving yet.

My walking getting better, but get lots of pain in evenings in the legs. Still lots of tingling in feet and hands. I get real sudden, sharp pain in the right

Ron, a good friend’s son goes to MSU. Was hoping they would win. My friend is from Michigan ( he went to MSU) and his dad is retired from auto industry up in your area.

Glad the blow outs didn't hurt anyone. I had old trailer tires de-laminate last spring trying trying to haul home some mushroom compost. Trailer tires age. Usually the age kills them before the tread wears out for a lot of people. I got a great deal on some from Walmart. They had to order them in, and I had to wait for hours to get them installed (for free) due to our small Walmart's auto department's number of staff. I buy trailer tires by the number of plies they are rated for.

The bucks are rutting around here too. Seen 2 that have gotten hit on the highways last week.

Time to go to church....
