Got email from Messicks on the software upgrade, they said get your order in now. Haven't heard status on the L5030 repair, they had to order the rear seal.

anyone use the Mike Morgan fire starter? From his videos, it seems to work well.

Amazon did it again, package that was due tonight by 9 PM is suddenly now due the 18th. Was wanting to get it tonight. If my office cleanup doesn't get done, I'm now putting Amazon on notice as the reason. :ROFLMAO:
Did get shelf brackets for Garage, but probably won't get those up yet.

Just a yucky day out today. Need to make a dreaded Costco run sometime, maybe Wed morning.

Paul, just curious what you use for fire starters? For the Vermont wood stove I use those Rutland fire blocks with newspaper cardboard and some kindling.

I use a pinch of paraffin soaked wood chips in the center of a matrix of split cedar siding kindling, then stack logs on top of
Andirons over that. It lights a roaring fire with one match in a few minutes.

Good Evening Paul,
I’m guessing you have a good kindling supply !

At almost $10 a running foot, I saved every piece of scrap from the old folks home and split it with an ax into kindling. I’ve got at least a few seasons worth of kindling. I wasn’t going to waste it.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 19.7C and it's presently 22.8C, partly cloudy with the odd gust of wind. There was 2.6mm in the gauge @ 0900.

Yesterday's Parish Council meeting got shifted to this Thursday @ 1500, so the day turned into a relaxing one.

I will get up to something today... I just don't know what yet.

That's about it, take care all.

The power went out here at 6A.M. came back on at 10. Thankfully I have a portable generator and a wood furnace. Fired up the genny, swapped over the plug for the blower on the wood furnace and also the sump pump. We have an outdoor rated (I think it is 12 gauge) extension cord that runs from the genny to the kitchen window for the kettle and a lamp. I surely would like a whole house standby generator, but they are worth about 20 grand plus installation. By law I cannot do it myself.

Drew, how would you like the 60"/5' that Gravenhurst got?
That would keep you occupied for an hour or two, just to get to the garage. :ROFLMAO:

Poured first cup of coffee. 38° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 41° with cloudy skies. Made a trip to Costco to get a tune up on my hearing aids. What a mess. Lots of very inconsiderate people. In parking lot and in store. Why I do not like going there. Stop at Menards got me all the items on my shopping list. Have a board to mount filters on wall in cellar. Hope to get it mounted today and a coat of paint on it. That should fill my day.

good morning all
surprisingly warm here, 49 out now, clearing up this afternoon after some morning showers.
I was hoping to get a car wash this morning, will have to wait. Really don't want to drain the garden hoses again and
wash car myself.

one "dream" of mine was always to have a garage with a car wash station in it, meaning drain holes in the floor,
lots of heat and light, a good stereo cranked in the background, and then wash the car. Not going to happen but I can dream...

no other plans for today, so warm out need to get outside for a dose of fresh air.
of course this warm weather will disappear shortly and then a very cold stretch before Christmas.
I saw one tiny yellow forsythia flower yesterday.
sounds like a good day to work in the garage, have two more sets of shelves to hang.

hope you all have good day

53 going to 64. What? Maybe I'll go swimming with Della today.

Ron, sorry you hit the inconsiderate crowd. Seems like some days when I'm shopping, I have a wonderful time chatting with friendly folks and it really adds a positive charge to the day. Then with no predictability, there will be opposite days, like you had.

Had a routine checkup at the dentist early yesterday...went well...got the best cleaning I've ever had...skipped breakfast before I went, and they did a fluoride treatment, so had to wait 2 hours before eating...so did some Christmas shopping, then was pretty hungry by 11:30, and there was a 5 Guys right in front of me...so took out a 20 dollar bill and had a feast.

The space station is supposed to fly over in about 15 minutes, so guess I'll go wave, but think the clouds are gonna keep them from seeing me. 😁

:)
37F rain showers should be ending around 7:30am high upper 40's.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...8 hours t part store afterwards haven't a clue.

Enjoy your day all.

lane control both inside and outside Costco is always challenging.
parking maneuvers that would rival a good boat ramp for entertainment...
inside you've got folks not "driving on the right", carts coming at each other, and some
folks clearly in a much bigger rush than I am. Only time I'd hustle if there was frozen food in there.
and then they just abandon their carts in middle of aisle and walk off to shop.
not much situational awareness, being self focused in a crowded area

only time I get really annoyed is when crowded too close, like in the checkout line. I try to keep as much space as I can away
from others, but then folks come right up behind you. I bet they are tailgaters out on the road too.

I also think every encounter is an opportunity for kindness. Sometimes that works and
clearly sometimes it doesn't.
I've had much better experiences in local grocery store. You can stop and joke with folks.
Yesterday someone said loudly good looking to a friend nearby. So of course a few of us turned around
and said me?, which everyone laughed about.

I know this is sappy but like Readers Digest said, laughter is the best medicine.

   / Good morning!!!! #200,635
Wngsprd, the stupidest thing I saw was 20 people lined up to use self checkout. I ran my cart along side of the line to the line of 8 attended checkout register's. Only one person at each register waiting to checkout. The one I chose had no one waiting.

   / Good morning!!!! #200,636
56 outside right now, heading to lower 60's today. Sounds nice doesn't it.

More paper work is the order of the day. I'll try and sneak outside sometime. Maybe go play with not my dog and pickup sticks.

MIL coming to town, this week. It ain't Santa. LOL. I'll still be nice.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

   / Good morning!!!! #200,637
I'm sure some folks have good luck with self checkout but every time I have tried something has been missing a label,
or somehow doesn't scan. I'm surprised they still have self checkout, so much opportunity to steal

Riptides I'm still trying to keep my 98 year old MIL happy. Chocolates work fine.

good morning, 45 going to 57 very mild weather with lots of fog this morning

Walked Cody with the headlight but not much visibility due to fog

Picking up groceries this morning

Hope to be able to go up to the shop and continue on pending items waiting for me

The mini split is going and may wait with firing up the wood stove.
It is easy to start using newspaper as starters. Take 2 or 3 sheets and roll it the long way corner to corner, twist it and make a knot. Use 3 or 4 to start and add kindlings that is saved from the debris that naturally happens during splitting of firewood. The ends go on fire first time lit and off it goes.
