I'm in the market for a good jump starter box. Can you you get a decent one for $150 or is $250+ range more realistic?

Its purpose would be from jumping off tractors to 110 hp, pickups, occasional road tractor jump assist(never have enough pickups for all the batteries), even powering a 5,000 lb trailer winch on occasion.

The trailer winch power source got me looking into them, a fellow member pointed me in that direction. You can buy a smaller decent one for the price of a agm battery, or one set of wires to a single vehicle. I want one big enough to be useful for my other uses too.

Anyone have any experience?

The industry standard around here is the Solar ES5000,about $200-$225.All the towing guys use them and have very good service life results.

the amount you will have to pay for a HD jumper pack to do that stuff will be astounding.

remember.. no magic occurs inside the box.. it's all 'battery'.

ME? I gave up on jumper boxes after I had a couple peter out.

My new jumper box is a good set of 8' VHD jumper cables that I removed one set of ends and installed battery clamps.. then I got a good HD battery.. like a grp 31 and stuck it on a hand cart ( or just manhandle it around with it's built in strap handle ).. I jan jump trucks, cars and even my 95hp NH 7610s tractor with it.. ( heck.. same battery that tractor has anyway.. )

cost? about 135$ not counting the battery clamps I already had.. works great.

I have a cig lighter adapter clamped in as well.. the ting works great for lil tire pumps and lamps.. 12v impact guns for tire changing.. winches.. etc.

Around here the 700 amp version of that 660 is often on sale for under $100.
I've got an Optima battery that gets used for my trolling motor or tractor winch in the summer, sits in the garage in the winter. Most of my jump starts are from my pick/up via a GOOD set of homemade booster cables. Tractor and pick/up both have heavy plugs brought out thru the grill to match with plugs on the booster cables and winches.
