Goats for a clean pond?

/ Goats for a clean pond? #41
Domestic geese. I've had geese for many years and they do a fair job of eating grass.

You are NOT going to keep goats contained using electric fencing. As has already been mentioned (beat me to the punch), if water can get through a fence then so can goats. You'll end up spending more time managing the goats (and likely on an emergency basis) that you'd spend if you just maintained the areas yourself.

Just to toss it out there (I have ZERO familiarity on such), perhaps robotic lawnmowers? Probably need several of them. Up-front cost might be a bit high but one needs to assess total costs (operational costs [off-season feed would apply here]) anyway in order to arrive at the best solution.

HippieFarmer:
They taste much better if you don't name them.

Might I humbly suggest that naming them appropriately can set the stage of expectation: BBQ, BackStrap, Burger, Osso Buco...Buco, for short.

When my son started his chickens, I told him to teach the kids their table names: dipping flavors for nuggets!
"Bad goats make good cabrito." I have a sign in one of their pens.
