Do you really want everybody adjusting their own brakes...... That's why the have automatic slack adjusters that you still have to adjust sometimes......

I said I adjust my own and have been for 30 years.
I said Id like to see air brakes on smaller trucks...450/550, 4500/5500 etc.

Looking at a single axle dump truck. I'm mechanically minded, but thought I would ask for suggestions on what to look out for. Obviously rust, patch jobs, hydraulics, engine, brakes, tires. Ad says it has a cat motor. Says new tires and brakes. I'll be asking if it has air brakes. front axle is rated at 6k, rear at 15k, so i should be in the clear as far as no CDL but correct me if I'm wrong on that one. Truck looks solid, I'll be calling tomorrow to try and set up an appointment.

You may want to check out the PA Motor Vehicle site for farm use plates. I am not sure if you would qualify but it is worth a shot.

You have to file a schedule F or show farm income on your 1120 to qualify for farm tags

Farm plates have some laws with them around here No hauling lumber from a lumber yard on a truck with farm plates to many contractor were using farm plates to save on registrations and AG plates are only good for so many air miles from your farm....

And I'd dispute that ticket vigorously. Barns are a huge part of farming. If I have a barn repair that requires wood, darn right I'm going to the lumber yard to buy the wood, bring it to farm and make repairs. Thats farmin

Laws vary from state to state. But a contractor with farm plates on his truck committed fraud to get them. A farmer hauling lumber for farm use did not. Big difference. If I were a farmer and got that ticket I would surely be in court to challenge it.
