I have changed spark plugs on everything from weed eaters to helicopters but my 2001 GMC 4.8 PU has me stopped I can not for the life of me get the silly wires off of the plugs. Anyone got any tricks to do it. They are the ones that have a seperate coil for each plug and cover the entire plug with a steel heat shield over the whole thing. I tried twisting and pulling as hard as I could and haven't budged a one. I guess my last resort is to buy a new set of wires and cut the things off.

Yes if they are baked on you will likely have to destroy them and replace them with new. If you yank them hard enough with plug wire pullers, likely you will cut the boots anyhow, or yank the terminals loose.
Use some di-electric paste on the tips of the new ones to help next time, and anti seize on the plug threads---although I have done that in the past and still had the boots rebake---lots of underhood heat these days!!
I recommend staying with brand specific platinum plugs if thats whats in there originally (AC Delco in your case) for less issues with misfire codes being set, and proper intended operation.
Good luck...you now know why tune ups cost so much these days. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
