GM unveils new 6.2 1/2t specs

This may have been covered (I haven't kept up with this thread) but just wondering. All this power and you can't buy it in a true "Work Truck" spec-only high end versions.

High HP/Torque numbers are one thing in a truckwork truck application. In a toyhauler, I look at them as something else. Yes the numbers are the same but is the durability (duty cycle the right term?) an issue??

I know. Very aggravating.

This engine with a manual transmission in a rubber floored, crank windowed, 3/4t, 4wd, 3 pedal, 2 stick truck would be real nice.

You can buy that truck in a Ford minus the m/t. You can even get a a/c delete if you want.

I am pretty sure you can get a ecoboost in a XL.

Yes, you can. You have to get an 8' bed though (regular cab), I believe, but what's a work truck without a long bed? :)

PU margins for work trucks are not as fat so just sell the upgrade package to get that engine may be the plan. :)

But I have no interest in an automatic. None whatsoever. Ac delete is nice. I don't care for ac much. Works in both my vehicles. Never use it though.

Just curious, what don't you like about automatics?

No appeal to me.

I like shifting. The simplicity. The generally deeper gearing. Less to go wrong. Easier to work on. Less maintenance. Better engine braking.

Plus it's FUN!!

While I claimed I was buying for a project truck for my son's first vehicle in part I bought the worn out 1998 S10 Step Side PU because it was so much fun to drive with the 5 speed. I use the brakes very little in fact.

When I bought the 1989 flat dump truck I stayed away from automatics because I planned to keep it for 20 years. I am OK with automatics but not in old work equipment.
