Glow plug indictor

My 1993 LK3054 got treated to a brand new engine back in 2005. However, I concur with most of Patches starting quirks. I also use a lower radiator hose heater and warm up the glow plugs twice. First time (8-10 seconds), crank and let it cough & puff. Light up the glow plugs again for the same amount of time and then hit the starter again. This time it catches and runs - a bit rough for a few seconds, but then it's nice & smooth. Somewhat better in the warm weather, but I still use the glow plugs to help start it so I don't have to crank the starter too long.

They ain't pretty, but you got'ta love 'em. I not sure any CUT is better but, except for a few hiccups,I'm satisfied with it; I just wish it started better.Maybe I should move to a warmer climate;nah I'll just bi!@#

I suppose its usually 40 or above degrees when I have used mine. When stored its in a semi container unheated but vented and I use Powerservice fuel additive always.

Well, I'm waiting for Rick Wallace to mail me my replacement indicator, but in the meantime I removed the old unit and joined the wires together. I have to be careful so I don't energize the glow plugs too long, but everything seems fine.

We had two snowfalls since the unit burnt out and I had to use the machine. I pre-heated for a count of seven and hit the switch. It started right away, better than I ever recall. Of course, this had nothing to do with the fact that I had the radiator heater plugged in for hours and that I replaced the battery . When it gets a little warmer (maybe tomorrow) I'll do an oil change and try to figure out why my (after market) hour meter crapped out .
