A new paper (Polynomial Cointegration Tests of the Anthropogenic Theory of Global Warming
Michael Beenstock and Yaniv Reingewertz Department of Economics, The Hebrew University, Mount Scopus, ******.) looked at the mathematical analyses of greenhouse gases and found errors in the analytical methods used previously. Although there is a lot of statistician jargon in the paper, the last sentence in the abstract summarizes it well:

"Because the greenhouse effect is temporary rather than permanent, predictions of significant global warming in the 21st century by IPCC are not supported by the data."

In short, the IPCC people are wrong.

Once your credibility comes into question, it's tough to gain it back. This is what the IPCC is fighting now. They have been found inaccurate on several occasions, and data gathering techniques called into question. The emails release didn't help much either for their cause to promote the IPCC agenda.

This is a tactic in a court of law. If you can find, and prove a shread of untruth in witness testimony, then how can you possibly believe them about anything else they testify about? It calls into question all their testimony. All 3000 pages.

It's unraveling for the true believers in GW/CC now. It used to be a subject that was taken seriously by many more folks. Now it is becomming more and more by the day a questionable argument if "global warming", "climate change" is entirely caused by human activity, and not a multitude of other imputs such as solar activity, water vapor, sun spots, ocean currents, orbital variations, volcanos, cosmic rays, tooting termites.....Scientists want to be listen to and taken dead seriously. Now the IPCC report is becoming a bit of a subject to bash, make light hearteness of, and skewer with humor. Hardly what the writers of the 3000 page document wanted. Banter for late night TV talk show host staffs to write jokes about. Everytime one of these articles comes out about part of the report being questioned....

Variations in climate on the earth was going on for 100s of millions of years before humans and their SUVs.

But all of this is academic, and some good and bad arguments. The way we are headed now, especially this comming November is shaping up like a complete reversal of the present course on this subject.

I for one am about completely tired of snow. Plowing it, FELing it, blowing it, shoveling it. Chipping ice. I wish it would warm up.:)

Again and again, if you want to find out the real news of what's going on in our country, you have to go to the British papers. Our media doesn't have any credibility anymore and is a total waste of time.

While the British were in the lead on Global Warming, their press is doing what ours is not. They are investigating all of it and coming up with story after story about the false science, the lies and the corruption. It's almost a joke now, but for some reason that I don't understand, there are still those who want to believe. I can't figure it out, but the numbers are turning and the polls are showing that its no longer a real concern for those of us who have been fightint it over the past decade.

Here's another story that just adds to the absurdity of Man Made Global Warming.

World may not be warming, say scientists - Times Online

Just one paragraph from the article;

“The temperature records cannot be relied on as indicators of global change,” said John Christy, professor of atmospheric science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a former lead author on the IPCC.

If you read the reference that Eddie gave, at the end of the article there is still an assertion by some that the world is warming faster than they thought--the result of interviewing people from both sides of the issue, something the US press doesn't do in regard to global warming.

But, the person interviewed, Dr Vicky Pope, doesn't defend the data set--she can't--all she says is that things are still warming. She is using the faulty database that Christy & Watts, also quoted in the story, criticized.

Watch what happens in the press on the global warming issue. If it is all discredited, the press will just stop reporting on it. Unless there is a big scandal, you won't hear much about it all being wrong, you'll just stop hearing about it. That's what happened with the "Population Bomb", "The Limits to Growth" and other issues over the last 30-40 years.

I found it interesting that in the President's State of the Union speech that when he mentioned global warming there was some laughter among the members of congress and as he tried to proceed, the laughter got louder and he got flustered and ended up grinning himself. It was like they all knew the issue had been discredited but politically they had to deal with it. Just my guess.

Eddie, here's another one from the Times Online (Obviously not the NY Times):

Feb. 15 (London time):

"UN must investigate warming 礎ias? says former climate chief"
"Every error exaggerated the impact of change"

UN must investigate warming ‘bias’, says former climate chief - Times Online

And some excerpts:

"The UN body that advises world leaders on climate change must investigate an apparent bias in its report that resulted in several exaggerations of the impact of global warming, according to its former chairman."

"In an interview with The Times Robert Watson said that all the errors exposed so far in the report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) resulted in overstatements of the severity of the problem."

"Professor Watson... said that if the errors had just been innocent mistakes, as has been claimed by the current chairman, Rajendra Pachauri, some would probably have understated the impact of climate change."

?..The mistakes all appear to have gone in the direction of making it seem like climate change is more serious by overstating the impact. That is worrying. The IPCC needs to look at this trend in the errors and ask why it happened.

展e should always be challenged by sceptics, he said. 典he IPCC痴 job is to weigh up the evidence. If it can稚 be dismissed, it should be included in the report. Point out it痴 in the minority and, if you can稚 say why it痴 wrong, just say it痴 a different view.

This Global warming this is a bunch of Hooie.

Look how they take readings - This will water your eyes. They take temp reading near exhaust fans from air conditioners, hot asphalt, traffis, and cement building that retain heat.

Further more for you old timers like me remember Global cooling, remember we were all supposed to be frozen by now.

Anyway look at this article:

http://www.denisdutton.com/cooling_world.htm

Here's the twist no one is talking about. These scientists used data back to the cave men era to say we would have global coolin, now this new set of scientists take THE EXACT SAME DATA from the stone age and say we have Global warming. Come on people you can't use the same data and have two polar opposite opinions.

I didn't buy the Global cooling as a kid and I don't buy global warming as an old man.

I'm not going to go out and hug a tree unless I've been drinking. But I like the idea of getting my gas from Ohio and having a farmer not sure what to do with the extra money he has. I also like recycling because it can be. If I want to know what my power bill will be then I can check my solar panels out put.

Living downwind from a solar panel, wind generator or geothermal power plant beats downwind from a coal, natural gas or nuclear generating plant. I don't believe our foreign policy has been influenced by our demand for wind and sun! Energy conservation reduces the need for more power plants. Reducing our demand for energy does not mean a lower standard of living. I predict that whether I get 9mpg or 40mpg to travel has nothing to do with happiness. (might have something to do with testosterone level) The solar panels and my small wind generators have produced 100% of my power for nearly a month (often in winter I need to run a generator every few days-8hp honda) Kick the habit - its not that bad. Its not anti-American to conserve.

For those who think ethonal is the answer, keep in mind that it takes more oil to produce it then it creates if usable fuel. It requires massive amounts of tax dollars to operate and create fuel from corn or any other plant product. If the government, and Tom Daschel is the lead lobbiest for this, was not involved, it would disapear because it's such a huge cash cow without any way to support itself.

Consider the fule to grow the crops and get them to the refinery. Then consider the fuel and WATER that it takes to turn that corn into fuel, and when it's all said and done, you have used more fuel making it then you get. It's a sum loss. Add to that all the water that it takes to create the fuel, and that it now has to be cleaned up from all the chemicals that are added to it, and now we're wasting oil to create ethonal, but we're also destroying the environment.

To top it off, ethonal doesn't burn as well as gasoline, so we get fewer miles per gallon using it. There is no savings at the pump because you have to fuel up more often.

Ethonal symbolized all that is wrong with government involvement. It is corrupt to the highest levels and the only people benifiting from it are those pushing it.

The same is true with solar and wind energy. Both cost more to operate than they generate. Both are dependent on tax dollars to exist. Take out the government money, and they all go bankrupt.

There is proven technology that works. It can be improved, and it has been improved. Wasting time on things that do not work with the hope that they will work one of these days is just foolish. If the technology becomes available that does what everone wants it to do, then we should use it. I'm even for government money going into the research to get these things to the point that they make sense. But to spend money on them now is only helping out the companies that sell them, and operate them. It discourages improvement and advancement.

Phil Jones is one of the big names in Global Warming. He might even be the biggest name in it after Al Gore. His research and position are a big part of what is used to support Man Made Global Warming and Climate Change.

In the British Newspaper, The Mail, he has now admitted to not being able to find his records with the data to support global warming.

It says;

"Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.
And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming."

1) Much of the push for corn based ethanol was pushed by lobbyists from companies and states whose economies would benefit. I agree - corn based ethanol is a loser.

2) There can be a net gain with ethanol from other low tech plants.

3) Blanket statements about solar/wind are all relative to the true cost of fossil fuel usage. Anyone who believes that none of our $900 billion dollar annual defense costs are not partially a result of keeping the oil flowing has their head in the sand IMHO. If we also consider some negative pollution issues it adds to the cost. Green house gases are whole separate issue. If you consider the long range costs of our oil consumption the payback on solar/wind are reasonable. (Its possible that US soldiers have died to keep the oil flowing)

4) This AM while listening to PBS the report is that China is reluctant to put more sanctions on Iran (nuclear issues) because they are concerned that there will be a disruption of their oil supply. Does this desire ever effect the decisions of our government?

The more efficient we can become the better.

I agree Loren, corn based ethanol has considerable downsides but I also wouldn't discount the benefits of our experiences with employing ethanol as a motor fuel at the current scale either. And my understanding is that biomass can potentially have a significant role in home heating and power generation as well.

Eddie, I'd also add that government seed money in the form of basic research and development is responsible for much of the innovation edge we still enjoy in the global economy. Consider, we might not be enjoying these chats otherwise. :D:D

Energy Independence = National sovereignty and Security. What is so hard to understand about that?

The reason we are locked into an oil and coal based economy is because of the incredible power of the energy lobby. If the true cost of protecting the oil fields in the Middle East were factored into the cost of a gallon of gasoline the cost would be so high that we would have moved onto other sources years ago.The great industrialist of the 20th century were talking about alternative energy 100 years ago.
