Hi guys. Thanks for all of your help thus far. Here is the newest option (not sure what I think yet but what are your opinions of it) Heres the email. It is a NH269

bought the baler Feb 1996, and have been baling about 400 bales every year except last year. Didn't have the time last year so I big baled everything with the used New Holland big baler I bought last March. After using the baler, I always clean it out and grease it so it's ready the next time I use it. I don't have a shed to store it in so it shows being outside. Since I've owned it I've replaced several of the pickup teeth, and the rods that drag the hay towards the chamber. I've got a spare belt and pickup teeth along with the owners book. If your like we can unroll some hay and run it though it. Main reason I'm selling it is due to the big baler I have now bales 1000lb bales and with an unroller, I can unroll what I need for those times I used square bales. I'd take $850.00 for it.

Thanks guys
Well I went ahead and bought the NH269 this weekend. It looked like he had taken good care of it and really hasnt put many bales through it. Anything in particular I need to do before I use it. I will probably take it out next weekend or so and run some loose straw through it that need rebaled to see that it is working properly.

Congratulations! Just make sure the knotters are clean and everything is greased up. If he's been using sisal twine, get a new batch. I've had trouble with old stuff. I don't use plastic, but I assume it doesn't age.

Check the fluid level in the gearbox. Lube it.
I spray WD-40 on the knotters every month when my MF-124 baler is not being used. The previous owner said that helps to keep those critical components from causing trouble.

I do somthing similar, but use white spray grease. Our baler is under cover for the winter, I also paint the pickup, auger, and chamber in the fall. I put the spray grease on the knotter, chains, U-joints, and PTO coupler. The grease seems to stay on better than WD-40, so I don't have to put it one more than once. Any bearings I can see I will put WD-40 on, but then add a coat of grease over the top to seal it.
