GC2310 snowblower..

Hi All,

I should be getting the front mounted snowblower this week for my GC2310. If anyone has one now can you tell me if you have had any problems and what to look out for.

Is it easy to mount? Any other info?

The MF EZ mount is pretty straight forward. I would suggest having some extra shear bolts on hand.

Are you getting the electric shoot control? I am currently in the process of replacing the crank with hydraulic shoot control. Cranking the shoot around and having that crank in my way is a bit of a pain.

Throwin' snow is a great way to pass the time.

I agree, it's an easy mount. As others have said, get extra shear bolts. Get the correct ones and don't let anybody tell to just use regular bolts. The first time I used it I hit something buried in the snow and one of the bolts sheared and it didn't didn't come with spares which is dumb on MF part. I bought 1/2 dozen spares the next day.

Keep it oiled and greased. I have the electric chute deflector (up/down). Not a very good set-up, I had to modify it myself so it would last, but it works fine and oil the slide every year. I wish I had the chute rotator, I'm always cranking away. I thought the power rotator was electric not hydraulic?

The MF rotator control is electric but I am using a little hydraulic motor with a gearbox and the FEL bucket dump/raise ports for juice. Just makes more sense to me than having an added switch.

I have been using this for a couple years and have found that I don't really change the position of the chute much so it would be difficult to justify a chute control (doesn't mean I won't though).

Sounds like the blower will be a good investment but it sounds like the electric motor chute control is not the best set up...

My neighbor just got his front mount blower and it is a nice set up. The chute rotator comes hydraulic as standard. Manual deflector control though.

I like the sounds of using the FEL control with a seperate
hydraulic gearbox....nice!

I have to change chute deflection and rotation very often when I blow so I wish I had a power chute rotator, but at least I can rotate it from the seat with the crank. The power chute deflector was a necessity since I have to change it so often and I'd have to get on and off the tractor far too many times.

I was talking about my neighbor who just got his snowblower with the hydraulic chute rotator. I forgot to mention what machine it was. That was on his John Deere SX748... Massey needs to get on the ball and design one...

I'm holding off on the electric chute rotator for now...

It seems that most of the blower makers offer a hydraulic shot rotator option (Erskine, Puma etc). As I previously mentioned, I think it makes more sense. If I were buying a blower today I think I would look at the other makers (even though I like the convenience of taking tractor and blower to my dealer for winter prep).

I agree, hydraulic deflectors and rotators would be more powerful, reliable and maybe even less costly. I think they forgot how iced up and frozen these things can get in use and the electric motors struggle under real world conditions in the field.

My JD has a cable for operating the deflector. It works well and is pretty close to the pto cables used on tow trucks.
It should be an easy mod and a lot less expensive than the electric one from MF. When I priced the MF they wanted $300 ea for the electric rotator and deflector kits.

I got my front mount snowblower last week. It is huge! I'm used to a little walk behind Ariens. My life will be much easier now.

It went on real easy... The hand crank isn't to bad other than it takes 30 turns from one side to other...ok maybe 15 turns. Why couldn't they make it quick turn??? It seems pretty heavy duty.

Other than that and a few paint chips/blemishes it should handle whatever comes my way.

I just need some touch up paint...

one thing I was sadly disapointed on in this snow blower is how easy the chute gets clogged. I know some of it was user error aka me going to fast but some times if you go to slow the same problem bites ya in da azz. I have the gc 2300 so its the same attatchment. only other complaint I have about the snow blower is its not as well heated as my old plow truck

I have not had any problems with clogging but certainly have heard alot of stories along that line. If you haven't done so already, you might want to check out this item on keeping blowers from clogging:
