Purchased my GC1705 with loader and 54 deck, cannot be much more excited.

I bought a 3 point receiver adapter that is great. It mounted with no issues.

My question: how far down will the 3 point go? Is it limited by having the mower deck attached?

Mine will only drop to about a 35 degree angle, not all the way down.

Sorry, for the question, but have never had a real tractor.

MY 1715 will let the 3PH go down to about 8 inches off ground... And only has about 18 inches of vertical travel (I think)... I have been wondering if 3PH will actuality lift a mower high enough for real maneuvering....

If you are going to be changing implements a lot, you might want to consider a quick hitch....

And for any heavy lifting with FEL either use a mower as counter balance or make a ballast box.... I made about a 500-600 pound ballast box for rear and it made it much better/safer for FEL heavy lifts...

Also for some some odd shape lifting (things the refuse to stay in bucket) with FEL you may want to consider some bucket hooks...

Just wondering if your top link is adjusted properly, or your pto shaft for your implement is the correct length?

Well, to be honest, I have never owned a tractor with a real 3 point hitch. My last was a John Deere 318 and it didn't have a 3 point.

I wondered if I should adjust the top link but am not sure if the geometry.

At this point, nothing attached except a 3 point adapter that I want to use to hook to my wood chipper.

Is this 54-inch the mid-mount or a 3PH mount? If you have a mid-mount mower attached, the 3PH will continue to drop its full travel range even after the mid-mount is sitting on the ground. You may need to adjust the pressure relief/drop speed knob (between your feet) to allow the arms to drop under their own weight when nothing is on them. Otherwise, hold the 3PH lever down while pushing on the right side lift arm with your foot.


If you're having a 3PH issue with a mower, the geometry is usually that: while on flat ground, the lower link pins and top link pin hole should be in a straight vertical plane. Shorten or lengthen the top link to start off and then adjust according to your grounds.

Got it working! There was a bracket at the top link connection, that was limiting travel down. I removed it and everything works fine. Not sure what this bracket is for, other than to maybe stabilize the 3 point setup when not being used?

The mower is a 54" mid mount on this unit. I checked mounting geometry and it seems to be correct.

The bracket is probably the one that holds up the top link when not in use, sometimes it will sit in a halfway position and hinder the top link from being able to go all the way down.

Just got feedback from the dealer and it is meant to stabilize the top link. Guess it must be new as they had to do some research and it wasn't in the manual.

That bracket is meant to hold the top link up when not connected to anything. If you just let it hang, and back up to some implements, you can't raise the top link into place, it will hit the implement, so you use that bracket to hold it up. You don't need to remove it, just adjust it so that it doesn't hold up the top link when you want to lower it.

That part is nothing new, the dealer having to look it up is comical, they don’t know much..

as state above, you slip it one way to hold up the top link, you slip it the other way to release top link to let it pivot...

That's ok... MY dealer/salesman did not even know about the 1715 model till I walked into showroom, but they had a 1705 and a 1710 and a 1720 on the lot....

Amusing that basic questions have to be researched by the dealer. That’s ok, this forum is great. I’m impressed by all the responses and information here.

Once you get more comfortable, you may consider removing the PTO guard - that thing is a total PITA because it has to be screwed/unscrewed in order to move it between the raised and lowered positions. Definitely your call, but give it time.

I will put the bracket back on, now that I understand it.

Ditto on removing that rear PTO cover... a real PITA. Believe it only lasted a year on mine before I removed it. (I know right where it is, still shiny-new....)
