I have a Woods HBL84-2 back blade. There is a factory option that adds a single wheel well behind the blade.

From luring on this forum I see that most folks have added wheels at the ends of their blades. Will someone educate me on the benefits of the respective approaches?

Could be benefits to both, IMO.

The pic shown places the wheel far back, which will help when leveling fore and aft. However, two wheels at the rear of the outside tips of the box blade will carry the depth of the cut (or trail the fill) across the width of the blade (side to side).

If you by chance have T-n-T, then I would expect the single wheel way back would be the best if leveling an area or grading a drive is in order. Another of life's choices.

I'm one of those with wheels on either side of my rear blade. By taking the pin out that allows the blade to tilt from side to side the blade follows the crown of my drive and the entire edge stays a constant distance off the ground. It works well for plowing snow and I imagine it will work well when it comes time to redo my gravel drive and put a crown back on. If need be I could also independently adjust the height of the two guage wheels to "fine tune" a tilt angle on the blade, as opposed to being limited by the pin adjustments.

I'd go with two.
